L.A. Church Cancels Lamb Of God Appearance

An article about the church banning Lamb of God from their venue was posted on The Mercury News website. Several excerpts from the article:
The church-owned Great Western Forum has cancelled an April 9 concert appearance by Lamb of God because church leaders were offended by the group's previous name, Burn the Priest.
The band was set to appear with Slipknot as part of the Subliminal Verses Tour. In a statement on the band's Web site, drummer Chris Adler called the church's decision "a bit ridiculous."
"If they had taken the time to look into what we do and who we are as a band, I don't think they would have made the same decision," he told The Associated Press.
"They have made it clear that they do not want us because of our name, our show and our crowd," Adler said. "The word from the powers that be is that Lamb of God is not the wholesome family fun that the good people of Los Angeles deserve."
The band intends to perform in Los Angeles and is fielding other offers.

hehe would have been great for them to have played in front of all those god-fondling bible beaters with their sound, they would have flipped the *^%$ out,
espeically since LOG are so anti-bush, which most god-fearing christians are extremely pro-bush being the backwards social conservative that he is...too bad, im just glad LOG are doing so damn well these days...5 years ago i would never have guessed these guys would be this big...in these of all times...

Heh, Deathbringer, maybe they did think that. This situation brings to mind the video for Ruin, doesn't it? It would be interesting to see Lamb of God actually perform in front of these God fearing people. Id like to see peoples' reactions to metal. It gives me something to laugh at most of the time. It's just f***ing awesome to see bands stirring sh** up like this. I think it's really cool to see, and its always sort of exciting. They aren't currently named Burn The Priest, so why should that matter? Ive been to church a few times, and I dont have anything against religious people, but why these people complain about some of the things they complain about is beyond me..This is "a bit ridiculous", as Chris Adler has pointed out.

Well besides being pretty lame, Sometimes I just dont get it. These f***ers gotta be pretty ignorant to make decisions like this. The Forum is probably one of the worst venues to see a show anyways acoustic wise. Its like right in the middle of the worst black ghetto. I saw Pantera there and hundreds of confederate flag cars and trucks rolling right down Manchester Blvd where every business has bulletproof windows. Quite a scene.

This is some of the most bullsh** ive heard. They will allow slipknot to play, who decorate the stage with Pentagrams. BUT they wont allow Lamb of God to play because of their previous name. Not to mention haveing ruined the show for what im guessing is a large amout of the audience. Way to go churchies.
