The Banner Covering Killing Joke On New Single

Good Fight Music announces a special treat to kick off 2016: coming up on January 8th, the label will release "Love Like Blood," a limited cassette single from New Jersey vets The Banner.

The single features The Banner's new cover of Killing Joke's 1985 anthem, "Love Like Blood," and Norfolk, Virginia industrial act hERETICS iN tHE lAB's new remix of "Send Me Down," a song off The Banner's latest album, "Greying."

1) Love Like Blood (Killing Joke)
2) Send Me Down (hERETICS iN tHE lAB remix)

Followers of The Banner will not be surprised to find the "shadowy, metallic hardcore antiheroes" (in the words of Decibel Magazine) paying respects to Killing Joke. Standouts of the Jersey scene since the early '00s, The Banner was ahead of the curve in bringing goth/industrial elements into hardcore.

The Banner frontman JSS states: "For so long I was against recording covers as it struck me as a sort of waste of time. Recently, in my advanced years, I've found it to be helpful in figuring out how to write and record tracks of a different ilk than I would normally write for The Banner. Killing Joke was one of the first bands I really got into in my youth when I first discovered bands like Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy and such, whilst ransacking Cafe Soundz in Montclair, NJ after high school. I suppose covering them, this track specifically, was a foregone conclusion. I hope everyone likes it."

If you haven't heard it yet, The Banner's previous release "Greying" can also be heard in full below.
