Canadian death metal group Necronomicon has been busy working on an upcoming album to follow 2013's "Rise Of The Elder Ones" (reviewed here), but apparently some fans couldn't handle the wait and decided to pick up any album by a band of the same name and assume it was the right one.

After receiving angry messages about the direction of the "new" album (which presumably was actually "Pathfinder... Between Heaven and Hell" from German thrash outfit Necronomicon), the Montreal band issued this statement:

"This is an official statement to clarify something. First thanks to everyone waiting for the new album, we do think that you'll be rewarded with the dark art with the new one.

"Secondly: NO the new album that have been released is not OURS, before writing messages saying 'you betrayed your fans what the FUCK is that SHIT' or 'the worst of your albums, how could you do that?' and etc. etc. do your research and don't forget that we are not the only band called Necronomicon.

"Our new album is ready, like we said before, but we are not the one deciding when it will be on the market and that's the job of our record label Season of Mist.

"The new album will be released in 2016, and that is something we can say for sure. But the date cant be announced yet for professional reasons. If it doesn't sound dark, its not us."
