A brand new SYSTEM OF A DOWN track, entitled "Cigaro", has been made available for download in MP3 format at this location.
"Cigaro" is one of several tracks completed towards the group's forthcoming album "Mesmerize/Hypnotize", which is currently being mixed at a Los Angeles studio by Andy Wallace (KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, DISTURBED, SEPULTURA).
As previously announced, "Mesmerize/Hypnotize" will be released as a two-disc set, the first disc ("Mesmerize") dropping in the spring, the second disc ("Hypnotize") coming out roughly six months after that.
SYSTEM OF A DOWN plan to spend the next couple years on the road. Their first stop is Auckland on January 21, where they will kick off a six-day stint at New Zealand and Australia's annual traveling festival, Big Day Out.

The music on the song is good. I just wish that clown would stop wailing so much in
his goddamn songs! Easy on the DK comments guys ask the dudes from Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, Melvins and so on what one of their favorite bands were in the 80's.
DK would probably be in the top ten!!

Eh....their both good, the only thing at discussion is the vocal similarities. If you cant find 200,000 bands that are good, great, so-so and sh**tty that sound a little bit similar in some way: be it guitars, vocals etc then you're prolly only listening to a very select and limited amount of music. A man cant change what his voice sounds like natuarally despite having a wide range. calm down.

There are problems with some government officials, but not the American people. They don't deserve this sh**. Sadly, there are terrorists out there who still wanna bomb the f*** out of America..and the American people are innocent. If you are an American yourself, which you definitely don't seem to be...then you are pretty f***ed up. Take your f***in sh** somewhere else asswipe!

America has never been innocent of anything. America has been guilty ever since someone decided to take this place by force. People kicked natives out of their homes just to spread their diseases, and make shopping malls and Wal-Marts. If that is innocent then what's guilty?

BUT I DON'T KNOW OF ONE PERSON IN THE LAST 75-100 YEARS WHO WAS NOT LOYAL TO THIS COUNTRY. AND I MEAN INDIANS, WHO HAVE MORE RIGHT THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD TO BE MAD AT THIS COUNTRY. WHAT ABOUT THE ABORIGINAL PEOPLE DOWN UNDER BEING HUNTED ALMOST TO EXTINCTION BY THE CRIMINALS SENT THERE FROM BRITTON? EVERY COUNTRY IS GUILTY OF SOMETHING, GUYS, OR OIT WOULD'NT BE A SUCCESSFUL NATION. BUT ALMOST EVERY COUNTRY'S SINS ARE IN THE PAST, AND SINCE NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED CENTURIES AGO, YOU GOT TO GET PAST IT. Oops, sorry about that. I meant to say: I down't understand why SOAD is so hated now. First off, they didn't say all this 'america deserved what the got' bull that everyone thinks, they merely said that it was an eye opening experience and we should learn not to think so highly of ourselves for something bad could happen at any moment. I think it's a terrible thing to happen to innocent lives nontheless, but i do agree that we should learn from this experience and move on. By the way, The Edge played SOADs new song yesterday (jan17 2005) and the edge is clearchannel. Whoever said that the government is keeping SOAD down is full of it. SOAD is down right now because they havent brought out a hit in like.... 3 or 4 years.
31. writes:
Ok, LOK, here goes... my problem is with what is going on now. I am personally disgusted that my celtic ancestors were enslaved by the christian society - worst thing that's ever happened. It is why we are where we are today... a good result? I think not.
Why the hell you want to fight for the white overlords who you admit slaughtered and ruined your people is beyond me. These people have nothing but their own interests at heart, not the greater good. I am not going to stand up for the government because I happen to be stranded on the same large rock in the Pacific as they are. They betray the people of this land on a daily basis, and the sooner people wake the f*** up and realise this, the better off we all will be.
This kind of mindless patriotism is the kind of stupidity that allows this kind of crap to continue. And if you haven't noticed, countries are still sinning like crazy... Yours and mine are among the worst out there.
Nothing can be done about 9/11 by blowing up the Middle East - I just don't follow that logic, it just seems like petty, childish revenge on a massively uneven scale. How the hell Bush managed to jump from a barely justified assault on Afghanistan to blowing the sh** out of Iraq is a feat of political engineering, more amazing is the number of Americans eating straight from his sh**ty hands.
And, yes, I will feel the same if a terror attack occurs down here (which I sincerely doubt anyway), because as I already mentioned on a similarly themed post - WE ASKED FOR IT.

Here's my take on things.
Zetaoperative- so you're saying everybody in America is guilty of taking over this country, kicking the Native Americans around, and helping diseases become rampant? Sadly, things like that did happen. But was it really the American citizens that were doing those terrible things? I guess you could say it was due to American citizens, in a small part. They needed a place to live. So the government took control of Native American lands to give their citizens some place to live. There were many battles and skirmishes between settlers and the Native Americans. They were both just trying to survive. I don't think the settlers moved out to the lands of the western United States with the intention to kick the Native Americans out and spread diseases--it just happened. Most of those moves out west were encouraged or sometimes sponsored if you will, by the government. I'm sure many settlers would have be able to co-exist with the Native Americans if they weren't hostile or invaded their privacy. Fast Forward a hundred or so years. We have all those Wal-Marts and strip malls and gas guzzling vehicles. That is somebody's fault. Yes, I agree that their are some Americans at fault for these changes... But you can't blame the American citizens as a whole for things like that. It's not everybody. So yea, there are plenty of "guilty" people in this country. But the rest of the peaceful citizens, I don't think so, they're innocent. One prime example of a "guilty" person would have to be George W. Bush.
Morbid Florist- it's people like YOU America could do without. You can go f***ing rot in hell. Why the f*** do you think that people who believe Americans and those who died in the 9/11 attacks should die??
ac666- I agree with you on just about everything you say. I am also disgusted by the government's actions, and think that the actions taken by the taken is only in the best interest of themselves and their wallets. I don't see any reasons to trust or agree with the government. Out of my own beliefs, I just have to (respectfully) question, why do you say 'if a terror attack occurs down here....we asked for it' ? If the government is to blame, why should citizens be harmed? Shouldn't the government officials be the ones to suffer?
I think the same goes for what happened in America. If anybody has to pay, it should be the ones who make the mistakes (the government) not innocent people.
36. writes:
''we asked for it' ? If the government is to blame, why should citizens be harmed? Shouldn't the government officials be the ones to suffer?''
I agree with you, I'm just saying I won't be surprised if we are targeted now because we got involved where we had no place in doing so. Our blood will be on the governments hands just as much as any terrorist if we get hit.
LOK - Agree to disagree? Fair enough. \m/

GOOD POINTS, RUE. MANY, MANY, WHITES AND INDIANS CO-EXISTED THROUGHOUT AMERICAN HISTORY. THE ONLY REASON ITS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED MORE IS BECAUSE FOR THE LAST 80 YEARS OF THE MOVIE INDUSTRY, PEOPLE WOULD MUCH RATHER PAY TO SEE CUSTER KILLING INDIANS THAN TO SEE TRIBES DONATING SKINNS TO KEEP WARM AND MEAT TO SETTLERS AND PIONEERS WHO GOT STUCK IN THE WILDERNESS. THROUGH STORIES HANDED DOWN FOR GENERATIONS WITH OUR PEOPLE, AMERICAN HISTORY IS SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT. WE DON'T SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT IN MANY ISSUES, BUT WE DO VALUE A "GOOD FIGHT".

I think the song is pretty good. They said we would hear a range of influence, so Im looking forward to that on the new albums. I cant wait for some live dates either.

wow ive always been a soad fan, ive heard songs that some of u never even heard of, ya i will say this song isnt the greatest but its system of a down, they have there own unique style and well some people like the style, apparently others dont appreciate creativity. but back to the topic. i like the song its pretty good, its not wat i expected of soad but i like it. oh yea and nothings wrong with nu-metal, my radio station still plays nu-metal, its something for little kids to listen to and have inspiration!

Please do NOT say Nu-Metal is for little kids... God... Punk rock and Emo is for little kids. This is no band for some ignorant little groupie whore who replaces their 'you's with 'u's, man. That's for people who listen to mainstream radio, man.
Anyways, about the song. This is excellent. Very creative... and the chorus is catchy. What they really ought to do in their next album is create a song with a massive guitar solo. It would blow your mind, man.

The anti SOAD people posting above seam really rather immautre.
Terrorism of all sorts is wrong on a moral level, but some of the horrible things America has done in the past cant be excused either.
The people in the third world countries who have been raped, pillaged and have had their countries striped of resourses by America have a distinct right to not like American people.
Im not saying America got what it deserved, but evidently over half of America wants to take the violent and war ridden root to "peace" becuase Bush was re-elected.
-my 2 cents...

53. writes:
Thanks for your two cents, Clpwned. But us "anit-SOAD people" aren't "really immature," at least we took spelling lessons!
Also, America hasn't done anything to these third world countries you speak of. We haven't taken any of their rescources and haven't "raped, pillaged, etc." I see no American ties to these countries at all. If you're thinking the U.S. is there, you're wrong, it's the UN, so America is in the UN, they shouldn't be, but they are. But that doesn't mean they are supportive of the decision to go to said "third world countries."
Those countries are riddled with AIDS, poverty, food shortages, crime, etc. But as far as I know, America is not doing those things to those countries.
S*it happens. Shut up.
It's people like you who want peace that make terrorism possible.
Congratualtions, you just killed 3,000 people.

LOK: PEOPLE MIGHT TAKE YOU MORE SERIOUSLY IF YOU DIDN'T TYPE IN CAPS LOCK AND EVERY POST WITH "HIMMM!!!!!"
Everyone else: It's a good song, and the tag line serves a dual purpose. It is supposed to reference the p***s envy/bomb envy that can exist between countries, but they also did it because the line grabs you. I have no problem with that, as that is what it's supposed to do. They shouldn't deny this duality though. And seriously, if you hate System so much, don't post in a thread about them. I understand falling into a debate, but coming into here and saying something like "SOAD SUKS A$$" or trying to create an argument out of nothing substantial is just stupid and fight-picking. This stupidity is what System is really against, despite a blurb on a site, and for that I am proud to be a System Of A Down fan.

Do you think it would be on Zakk Wylde's site? I would need more than one source to verify that Serj actually said this. Any other places I could find it?

Personally i dont know anybody who even knew anybody who died on 911, and since even the janitors their made like 30 to 40,000 dollars a year fu** all of them they are the people that the Iraqies hate any way the average white guy is really not hated by Blacks Iraqies or any other group of people for that matter, its all of the rich Fu****s like the kennedeys and the Bush Family and all of them. 96. writes:
Ok, so SOAD are rather politically based and that shows if you read between the lines in most of their songs. The essay Serj wrote on the 9/11 act was a wake-up call saying that we should learn from what has happened. Part of life is not repeating past mistakes.
In all developing societies there will be the poor and the oppressed. Take Britain in the early 20th century, it’s taught as basic history that the poor had it hard while the rich lived in excess. It’s not fair, but its life. England pulled through a long, hard time of poverty and suppression without any outside aid. It takes time and bands like SOAD to raise awareness on the issues that can be helped.
Cigaro is a great song, I believe it talks about the people who are so pumped up on their egos that they believe their “cock can walk right through the door”. These are the people that control society, the “cruel regulators”, immersed in a belief that they are great. However they are “in denial”, and really they’re doing a bad job. The bad job is expressed in the lines
“We're the regulators that de-regulate
We're the animators that de-animate
We're the propagators of all genocide
Burning through the world's resources, then we turn and hide”
It’s about leaders ruining people’s lives through regulations or genocide.
Considering System’s tendency to sing in heavy symbolism, it is impossible not to find an meaning behind the song. And it’s that symbolism that gets the intelligent thinking about what is wrong with this world
