Avenged Sevenfold just issued this statement to fans about parting ways with the band's drummer Arin:

"We are writing this to inform you all that we will be moving forward without Arin Ilejay as our drummer.

"Arin has been nothing but a positive energy and monster drummer for us over the past 4 years. We love the guy and always will. We are and will always be grateful to him for helping us to move forward through some very dark times.

"Creatively though, we felt we needed to move in a different direction. While we can’t say more at this time, we are excited for the future and looking forward to sharing our plans soon with the greatest fans in the world. As always we appreciate your understanding and unwavering support."

Avenged Sevenfold just wrapped up a trio of shows billed as the band's only live activity for the year. The group will also be contributing tracks to the impending Rock Band 4 release roster - with details available here.

Judging from A7X's last album they likely fired him because the guy actually wanted to be a drummer instead of pretending to be a metronome

The drumming was painfully boring last album, even worse considering how amazing it was beforehand

As much as I dislike the fact that Portnoy basically left Dream Theater for Avenged Sevenfold... I really want him to rejoin Avenged Sevenfold.

Nightmare was a solid album. It may have been the Rev's parts, but Portnoy added his own flavor to it and pulled it off without a hitch.

Hail to the King was a bag of sh**. Avenged Sevenfold was my "gateway drug" to metal, so to speak, and I'd hate to see them keep making stuff like Hail to the King.
