Children Of Bodom Parts With Guitar Player Roope Latvala

Finnish outfit Children Of Bodom has released the following message online about parting ways with guitarist Roope Latvala:

"Dear COB Hatecrew, we need to share something with you at this point. Our friend, brother, and a guitar player for 12 years, Roope, is no longer with the band.

"As we parted ways with no bad blood, we wish him nothing but the best and thank him for allowing us to share the last 12 years of our lives with him.

"Hope you know that this will not affect the upcoming shows or the new album as we recorded it as a four piece and it is already mixed, mastered, heavy as shit and ready to go! Enough said, See you soon!"

This upcoming new album, with details on the horizon, will follow the 2013 release "Halo Of Blood" (reviewed here).

ugh, another COB album? 10 years ago, these guys were the hottest up-and-coming band, then they released Are You Dead Yet?, and completely killed their momentum. Every release afterwards has been massive letdown after massive letdown.

AYDY may have been financially successful, but money does not equal quality. Those Transformers movies are huge piles of crap, but they make money.... so Michael Bay keep making them...... more piles of crap.

COB needs to go back to their roots. Being heavy shouldn't matter to them, they can't compete with that genre. Their main attraction is the highly technical melodic solos fused with lightning fast keyboards, not how heavy they are.

They used to make it all about playing the music, now it's all about crapping out a mediocre album as frequently as possible because the hardcore fans are still clinging to hope, and the new fans don't know any better.

Besides, Roope was a better guitar player than Alexi by a long shot, he probably didn't have any say in the songs as in most cases of greedy guitarist who run the band
