Dimebag Killer's Mother Talks About Her Son - Video Available

Columbus, Ohio television station WCMH has posted an exclusive video interview with the mother of the man who gunned down former PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and three others during a concert last week. You can watch the video at this location.
According to the Associated Press, Mary Clark told WCMH on Wednesday (Dec. 15) that her son, Nathan Gale, was released from the Marines in 2003 after the military diagnosed the disorder. Gale's rampage last week ended when an officer shot him to death.
Clark, who asked the station not to show her face on camera, also said she bought the 9 mm semiautomatic handgun used in the shooting for her son, before he was diagnosed, because she was proud of his military service.
"I'll never, never be able to live that part down," she said.
Gale, 25, of Marysville, charged the stage at a show by Abbott's new band, DAMAGEPLAN, on Dec. 8 at the Alrosa Villa nightclub. He shot and killed four people, including Abbott, before police officer James D. Niggemeyer shot him to death.
Clark said Niggemeyer had no choice.
"I give that man credit," Clark said. "You'll never know how many lives he saved."
Two others were wounded in the attack, including tour manager Chris Paluska, who was released from the hospital Thursday.

yes, but why did he land in an institution like most mental patients do when they are kicked out of the armed forces for being crazy?
i agree with deathbringer, she was very brave to make a statement like that.
somehow, if Gale lived, i think he would have been represented by Mark Geragos.

I have to respect the woman's honesty, but why the f*** wasn't her son already locked up since it seems that everyone who knew him already knew he was a complete basketcase? Either way, four innocent people are dead, and for leaving that gun with her mentally unbalanced son she will bear that burden for the rest of her life.

i agree w/ the ignorance comment. dont feel sorry for this woman. this is the baggage that one receives when a close relative does something verrrrrry stupid!! each one of us would go thru it. p*ss on her naive thinking and tunnel vision -------"my son wont do that-------he is a good kid-----he was military he would not do something like that-----" well lady he did and now good people are gone because of it. typical dumb b****!! NEVER let dime's name die. NOW THAT WOULD BE THE TRAGEDY!!!!!

bullsh**, she thanks the officer who shot her son before more people were killed on the interview
respect that! and only some dude at a tattoo shop appears to have picked up that the guy was unstable. i believe she was unaware and do not blame her in any way. after all i respect the fact that to her the tragedy was losing her son

she said "I give the man credit ,You'll never know how many lives he saved" ..imagine how hard that would be to say..pretty much congratulate the guy who killed her own son. and for your comment mark capestro.. "dont feel sorry for this woman. this is the baggage that one receives when a close relative does something verrrrrry stupid!! each one of us would go thru it." so are you saying that its your mothers fault if you go nuts and kill someone and taht people should blame her and not reall sorry for her?? and if you have kids or a close family member of yours loses it and goes and kills people that you should be blamed and knowone should feel sorry for u?? thats just stupid..you can't hold someone accountable for someone elses actions..nathan gale was a f***ing piece of sh** and deserves to burn in hell for f***ing eternity.. f*** YOU NATHA GALE YOU PIECE OF fa**ot f***ING sh**!!!

Dime was one hell of a guy. His guitar skills and genious writing were indeed legendary. I've been a huge fan of his since I met him and Pantera when they opened up for skid row in the early 90's. He talked to me like I was a long time friend, never letting the fact he was a great musician get to his head. Thats what Im gonna miss the most, he was an awesome soul!! That kind of talent and level headed outgoing personality is very very rare. My thoughts go out to Vinnie and the rest of his family including the Damageplan members. I hope they stay together because their cd is getting a lot of play in my stereo.

oops, wrong board, my apologies
Its too bad that fcker Nathan went out as fast as he did; I'd like to see him die a slow cruel death for what he did.
Dime didnt deserve that, that is not the way he should have went out. At least he was doing what he loved most when he died though. I hope he didnt feel any pain

The mother states she gives the officer credit for shooting her son, sounds like she is releaved that her son is gone. She probably had problems with him and couldnt handle him, now that he is gone she is releaved. Nathan Gale got off too easy, but knowing the justice system he probably wouldnt have served a day in prison if he had lived. Dimebag we love you, Keep his music alive..................\m/ \m/

No blame should be attached to anyone apart from the guy who decided to load the gun and go on a killing spree. Lets face it he got his punishment with a Shotgun blast to his f***ing skull. I personally would have hoped that the cop knee capped the bastard and chucked him to the crowd at the gig.

Don't use Dime's death as a means of venting your anti-gun viewpoints.
Anyway, RIP Dime :(
"What the hell kind of mother gives her son a 9 mm as a gift?
Is that legal? I guess that wouldn't make any difference anyway.
We certainly can't live without our guns, or question the Second Amendment.
ONLY IN AMERICA!!!!"

It really puts a twist on the whole thing and the way one might feel toward Nathan Gale. He wasn't just a crazed, obsessed fan, but he was really sick and had little grasp on reality while unmedicated. If he hadn't been shot dead, there would be even more of a mess as people try to grapple with his defense that would hold him not accountable for his actions and surely make an insanity plea.
It's got to be hard enough for a mother to lose her son, but to make such admissions is nothing short of courageous.
