Bob Gendron of the Chicago Tribune reviewed Korn's concert on Friday (November 26) at the Aragon Ballroom. Gendron writes, "Angst has always pervaded popular music, but few groups have tapped it more successfully than Korn, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary and touring behind its first greatest-hits record. Such a release typically implies that the end is near. But unlike many of its contemporaries, Korn hasn't lost its appeal - Friday's concert sold out weeks in advance, and the quintet's energy suggested anything but that of an artist resting on its laurels."

I used to hate Korn... they still aren't my favorite band... but i love their covers and their past couple of cds... Korn arent the most refined band in any way shape or form. But on their first outting, the self titled record, theose lyrics were unlike anything released on a major label. Dark, honest, scary, sincere, and furious. The bands sound was creepy and heavy and bizzare(at the time). It was also somewhat accessible. Covering PinkFloyd is also a bit odd, and their last record didnt impress quite as much as the others. However, their live performances are just as high energy as they were circa 1995 and more power to em for that. Lastly Korn are a benchmark band like Motley Crue, Van Halen, The Beatles, Metallica, Green Day, The Offspring, Nirvana etc....as in they were super popular and sold alot of albums for a time. Many of those fans arent quite so into Korn now, as their taste may have matured...BUT now many of those fans support Shadows Fall, Dillinger Escape Plan, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Tool, Messhugah, Cradle of Filth, Strapping Young Lad, Naplam Death, Killswiych Engage etc. And supporting the new blood and the overlooked vets is what it's about....

Korn arent my bag but they did make a huge impact. Alot of people like underground and overseas acts that were just completely off the radar before Korn came along and I appreciate them for that.
