At once familiar but still offering a refreshingly new take on the style, In Search Of Sun creates a melodic hybrid of rock and metal that is seeing the band rising quickly through the ranks.

Having progressed far enough in sound in just a few years that the band ended up changing names entirely, In Search Of Sun's debut full-length album "The World Is Yours" dropped at the beginning of the month via Raging Demon Entertainment.

The hungry young group will embark on the "No Money No Bitches" tour across the U.K. starting on Halloween, and while preparations ensue we got in touch with vocalist Adam Leader to discuss the new album and the struggle of creating lyrics that are both personal but can still be related to by the audience.

xFiruath: Before we get into the new album, I'd be interested in hearing what's going on in the London music scene today. Are there any venues in your area that are particularly devoted to the cause of metal and hard rock?

Adam: There are plenty of bands doing some really great things at the moment. Any day of the week a gig is available to go to where you're bound to have a banging time. I do think the scene took a bit of a decline at one point, but nowadays it's great! In terms of metal/hard rock venues I'd suggest The Barfly, Intrepid Fox, and The Borderline. These are some memorable venues for metal. The Intrepid Fox is probably the favorite for most devoted to the cause though.

xFiruath: From start to finish in two minutes or less – what's the history of In Search Of Sun like? I understand you used to go by a different band name.

Adam: I asked Dave if he wanted to go for a jam in 2010 because I was still looking for band members to start this band with. The two of us ended up gelling really well together, so we kept at it. Faz joined soon after and the rest eventually came and here we are now. Our name used to be Driven and under that name we released the EP "A Breakdown Of Character." After a few years, there was a general consensus within the band that the music we were writing for our first album was on a completely different level to our older material. The maturing of ourselves along with our music helped us evolve beyond the "Driven" stage of our lives and into something that reflected who we are as individuals. It just felt right.

xFiruath: The new album “The World Is Yours” is out now. Have you been reading the reviews and what sort of reaction is going on so far?

Adam: So far there hasn't been a bad review. Everything we've seen or read has always been positive and to be honest it's quite overwhelming. All of those reviews coupled with the feedback we've been getting from fans has put five big smiles on our ugly mugs.

xFiruath: What was the recording process like for “The World Is Yours?”

Adam: We recorded the album with Phil Kinman from MTR Studios. It took about 5 months to record from start to finish and Phil was incredible. His passion, commitment and hard work really did wonders. By pushing us he got the absolute best out of us and for that we'll be forever grateful.

xFiruath: What sort of themes should a listener take away from the album?

Adam: Those 10 songs on the album took almost 3 years to write and the reason it took so long was because we wanted to give each one just as much attention as the other. Each song has a different subject, theme, or mood and I did my best to create that vibe lyrically and vocally. As much as these songs are important and personal to me, they're just as important to every fan that has the album. I wanted people to be able to relate to my lyrics but I also wanted to write something that was truly personal to me. Getting that balance is something I worked at for a very long time but it was more than worth it in the end.

xFiruath: Where have you been playing live lately and do you have any upcoming tour dates?

Adam: We've been playing all over the U.K. for the most part. The only area we haven't really hit yet is Scotland. We're going on tour from October 31st to November 8th and it's called the "No Money No Bitches Tour" haha! Covering the South, up near past the Midlands then back down again. Hopefully on the next tour we'll reach Scotland.

xFiruath: There was a lyric video for “Idle Crown” that came out a few months back. How does a lyric video come together as opposed to a music video? On a similar note, will there be any other clips off the album going online?

Adam: Lyric videos are a hard way to capture a certain vibe unlike a standard music video. You've really got to use the right imagery and effects to reflect the subject of the song. I do feel we really pulled it off in this one though. There could very well be another lyric video in the future. If the fans want one, we'll give them one!

xFiruath: To finish off, what's coming up soon in the metalverse that's got you anxiously waiting?

Adam: Obviously there's the whole excitement for the new Slipknot album and tour, Mastodon’s album (and awesome video might I add) and the hope of maybe one day getting a new Tool album. There's also some really good up and coming bands that are doing incredibly well. There are too many to mention but a handful to look out for would be Voyager, Monuments, Liberty Lies, and Nylon Sky.
