Now, Voyager Comments On The Band's Uncertain Future

Now, Voyager has issued the following statement about the uncertainty of the band's future and the possibility of upcoming shows being the last:

"Dear Friends,

"Please allow us a few minutes of your time, if you would be so kind. Because of your support, and indeed, also your patience, we feel a responsibility to give you all an update on the matters related to Now, Voyager. It is only through honesty that we have a right to claim our loyalty and friendship to you, and hopefully in return, you will show us the same.

"As many of you know, we’ve talked about writing an album for quite a while now. After nearly a year we’ve only finished one song. If one of the primary functions of a band is creating music, and we have not been able to do that, then we’ve got to realize we’ve got an issue. Truthfully, after 4 solid years of devoting every waking second to this band, and sacrificing any other aspects that came into conflict with it, it seems that the effects are finally starting to come to light.

"What started off as a journey between friends having fun, and writing music for the pure sake of creating something together, seems to have become much more of a mechanical chore driven by pressures and expectations. Maybe somewhere along the way, our system of working imploded, and as the band went on, we accumulated disappointments, which further created a rift within our band. Frustrations slowly grew until we could no longer ignore them. The willingness to compromise and find ways to work together became clashes and demands for each person to work their own way. Most days, it no longer feels like that’s what we are anymore… a band. The conception of being a band, and friends within a band, feels very far removed. Even more so, it feels like we lost ourselves within that band. That is the honest truth about where we are right now.

"Earlier this year, Tony took 3 months away from the band. Martin will be taking a month away as well in November. Now, Voyager is in transition, and at a stage where we don’t really know what’s going to happen. We all need and feel different things, which at this point, are hard to combine. What we are trying to do, is to take time for ourselves, and give this band some time to breathe. We have always given Now, Voyager every single bit of our patience, effort, and devotion, and until we are ready to do that, there’s no reason to continue because this band deserves nothing less. To be clear, this isn’t a break up. It is, however, a disclaimer to let everyone know that even we are unsure as to what the outcome will be.

"We will be playing the next few shows for the first time as a full band since April. Whether or not those end up being our last is irrelevant. What matters is that we will be doing them together, and we will give them our all. After they’re done, we end up in the unknown confusion of hiatus/break ups/band therapy/writing/eating cheeseburgers. That conversation will be had in its own time, but if you want to see us play, we suggest you come out to one of the next few shows.

"As far as the album is concerned, one thing is clear: We will never release anything until we are happy with it. Despite all the expectations, deadlines, and risks of letting ourselves fade out because people lose interest (apparently mankind has developed attention spans shorter than flies), what matters most to us is writing songs that WE are happy with; Music that WE are proud of. Until that criteria is fulfilled, there will be no album. It may take a few months, a year, or it may never happen…. one thing’s for sure, if we ever do come around to it, it will be the best album we are capable of writing, and it will not be rushed or dependent on anyone else’s opinion but our own.

"We thank you all for your love and support over the years. It’s meant a lot, and kept us going for as long as it has.

"After months of silence, it is a relief to finally talk about it. We must now try to rediscover ourselves, and get over our own past frustrations. We must dive into the uncertainty of the future, and see where it might take us. If we make it to the other side, hopefully you’ll be right there waiting for us.

"Thank you all once again, and please do help us pass this message along, if you even still care at all. Here's to the future."
