Online Petition Launched Asking Ghost To Disband
In another of our preferred genre's ridiculous "That's Not Metal!" accusations that just makes us all look like a bunch of whiny, bickering schoolgirls, a petition has been launched to get the band Ghost to break up.
The petition currently has 625 signatures (with the hopes of reaching 10,000) and can be found at this location. The organizer of the petition comments:
"We petition against Ghost of the heavy metal genre that continues to make albums and tour. Many people getting into metal think that they are the real deal and that we should forget the real bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc. They wish to destroy real metal with their carnival music nonsense. Seriously, is a song like If You Have Ghost actually something that a real metalhead would listen to? They are not metal. People also make the erroneous claim that they are so directly inspired by King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, which is just wrong. They are, in fact, a watered-down version of BOC. We the people oppose Ghost continuing as a band, and they should be split up as soon as possible.
"Obviously just 100 won't convince Ghost and their management to listen! If we get 10,000 signatures then MAYBE they will listen and stop making music. Ghost has already spent the last several years butchering our ears with their awful poser music. Real metal does not involve Hot Topic bands. Ghost is not metal. Thank you for reading."

wow, so I guess when you don't like something, because your little you don't enjoy something, you have to make a bid deal out of it... and again the real/fake metal subject. I guess some people don't know what to do with their life! So, where's the petition against Baby Metal, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Dimmu Borgir, or whatever band that some jerk doesn't like ??? I'm not a fan of Ghost, but I think it's extremely stupid to make a petition for that (probably a f***ing looser who never had success with his metal band and out of jealousy started that sh**)

Actually I've seen quite a few people on our Facebook page lump both Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth into the "not metal" or "pop metal" category, which is of course ridiculous. It's fine if people don't like the direction those bands take and don't want to listen to them, but it's obvious that no top 40 radio lover would ever listen to either of those bands and go "Yeah, that's not metal, I dig this."

I guess I could see that angle working for Cradle of Filth maybe, but Dimmu? Hell, I'm not really even much of a fan of their music it (a friend is, I hear it a lot :P) but I think they are pretty far away from the "metal / not metal" line, should there be one drawn in the sand.
Anyone who defines their music tastes based on genre labels is an idiot anyway. Listen to what you like, don't listen to what you don't. Pretty simple.
Except country music.... don't listen to that.

That's comically bad, haha! Okay, they're not a metal band and...? Way to make us metalheads look like a bunch of closed minded jack off kings, we certainly appreciate it. How the hell does this guy think he's gonna shut down a band with a petition? Even if he reaches his goal, what will it matter? They play to theaters now and they've only been around for four years. I'm not even their biggest fan but I'd rather have a band like Ghost around than another Warped Tour friendly breakdown-core band. They may not be metal but they certainly qualify as a proper rock n roll band. That's more than what I could say about a lot of modern rock or "metal" groups that either look like Weezer or Good Charlotte.
