Vocalist Rob Dukes Comments On Leaving Exodus

Band Photo: Exodus (?)
Exodus recently announced the departure of vocalist Rob Dukes and the return of former member Steve "Zetro" Souza. Dukes has now issued the following statement about parting ways with the band:
"I'm no longer the singer of Exodus. I'm grateful for the last 9 years. I've had the experience of touring the world playing music.
"I was just a regular guy, a fan, and I got the chance to front a legendary band while having no prior experience of being a singer. I had no idea what I was doing and made it up as I was going along.
"It was a great chapter of my life, I'm bummed it ended with them, but I have another band Generation Kill. So I will concentrate on that right now and continue to build hot rods and build a car to race in the Baja 1000. I will be riding my motorcycle all over this beautiful country every chance I get, that's the next chapter of my life."
On August 10th, Exodus will perform at Heavy Montreal at Parc Jean-Deapeau in Montreal, QC with Slayer, Lamb of God, Hatebreed and more. The band will also appear on select international dates in Germany, Belgium and Columbia this summer, and will pick back up in South America in October. See below for a full listing of current dates.

f*** this. Classic line up or not Dukes had a better voice. Every album Dukes did with Exodus was fantastic. Sousa had fabulous disaster and tempo of the damned. Sousa has bailed on Exodus more than once. What did Sousa do when Dukes was the singer? He formed a sound-a-like band with a name coined from Exodus lyrics. He publicly campaigned to return to Exodus by saying everyone was telling him he should still be the front man. I might be done with Exodus between this and Holt spending all his time with Slayer. If Holt can't convince Sousa he's not the next singer for AC/DC and to do Dukes material live I'm out. That's such a shame though. Seen them 4 times since atrocity exhibition a was released. Would have been more but Slayer kept calling...

Rob Dukes saved exodus with a new energy. All these d***heads across the internet are like "dukes can't sing" and "dukes isn't metal". Well Dukes pulled in a lot of younger faces to the Exodus fold. He seems like a guy that should be fronting a band as heavy as Exodus.
I have seen Dukes in the pit in Fort Wayne. Not with security. Not during the Exodus set. But during a supporting act. Just like the rest of us enjoying the show.
I saw Dukes stop a show in Chicago because the bouncers were too rough with the crowd and they were throwing out some kid for stage diving. He stopped the show, confronted security, and made them bring the kid back in. It turned into a mini riot but he was sticking up for the fans. It earned my respect.
I don't know the guy. He could be a total a$$ but from what I have seen he seems like a solid dude. Good luck to Dukes and Exodus in the future.

terrible news....WHY??
Zertro f***ing sucks.
I've been around since Exodus started...never got very much into em until Dukes took command of the mic
Dukes fronted Exodus laid down some of the wickedest tracks by any band EVER
This is a fvcking choke....
HAIL DUKES \m/
NP---Class Dismissed/Burn Hollywood Burn---Exhibit B (we had such an exhibit a couple miles down the road just the other night in Isla Vista by yet another sociopathic, spoiled-brat Hollywood fvcking punk)

@Hellrat…if I heard correctly Exodus were offered a really good tour ONLY if they had Zetro.
Not sure if that’s true or not just like I’m not sure if Gary really had sex with Duke’s wife right before the wedding.
Rumors, rumors, rumors…..
I actually went and gave a listen to Tempo of the Damned and I had to shut it off after one song.
I could handle Zetro and Sean Killian (Vio-Lence) when I was younger but their voices are like nails down a chalk board to me now.
As much as I love Overkill, Blitz can also ham it up way too much…he has a great voice (Example…Years of Decay)……..or he can really grate (Elimination).
Exodus was never taken seriously with Zetro..they were always like Anthrax during the NOT period.
Dukes brought a level of darkness and seriousness back to the band.
I’m not happy with this move as it seems like a blatant cash grab.
And once again if I heard right, the canned Dukes while on his honeymoon….if any of this stuff is true…I’m not too big a fan of Gary at the moment.

If that wedding story is true, I wouldn't be able to look at Holt or hear one of his songs the same way again. I hope it's bogus.
I'm with Brian and hellrat. I love Dukes-era Exodus and this is not good news for me. I'm pretty bothered by all the people jumping for joy; I say, be careful what you wish for, because the past was never what your nostalgia reinterprets it to be, and you can't repeat it regardless.

Welkome back Zetro!! A real singer back again ! hope the screamer dukes have a good trip with generation whatever...
and cannot wait for... let's say Impact is imminent song... thrash under pressure... thorn in my side... deranged... choose your wespon... open season... verbal razors... corruption... tempo of the damned song... shroud of urine...

Very disappointed with this news. I have to agree that Sousa is very " cartoony" and I could never get into him. I've been listening to exodus since impact ( I was 13 when that came out) and always loved the music, hated the singing. I'm not trying to say dukes was the greatest singer ever but his voice fit well with exodus and I thought he made them better. Plus as mentioned above Sousa has bailed and been fired before. This really sucks. It seems like they just rushed a decision. They should have at least auditioned someone new.
