ProgPower USA XII: Day One

Friday began early in the day for the ProgPower crowd when US-based Creation’s End took the stage at around 2:40. Italian Guitarist Marco Sfogli got the crowd warmed up with some serious movement on his fretboard. Rhythm guitarist Rudy Albert and bassist Joe Black pulled on their best game faces for the early crowd. Vocalist Mike DiMeo had a nice stage presence and belted it out there. The set was a bit short, but as an opener, it had to be. Nevertheless, the band opened the day well without a hitch.

After the band wrapped its set, the reunited US band Sanctuary, featuring Warrell Dane and Jim Sheppard from Nevermore, was immediately in the lobby for a signing. Unfortunately, the band schedule and the signing schedule (both published in the very cool ProgPower program book given to attendees) did not see eye to eye. The bands reached a half-hour to forty-five minutes behind schedule throughout the day, so the signing sessions often took place during a band’s set. This made for tough decisions like: “Do I stay through the end of Voyager’s set or do I go get Ihsahn’s autograph?”

Darkwater had taken the stage shortly after. The Swedish group was well-received and performed their variety of progressive melodic metal to a crowd that obviously appreciated, judging by their reaction to Evergrey the night before. The band had an aesthetic that begged to be watched closely as the purple lights fell on them for certain songs. Just after, I met with Red Circuit’s keyboardist, Marcus Teske, for an interview in the adjacent club, Vinyl. Creation's End Gearing Up For Tour Dates

Creation's End is preparing to kick off the next leg of the band's live appearances next week, this time in the form of the first "Uniting The Powers Of Metal" tour. The tour features Artizan, Seven Kingdoms, and Widow as well as Creation's End for a co-headlining six-date East Coast tour, where all four acts will trade headlining spots show-to-show.

The festivities officially kick off this Tuesday, August 16 at Manhattan's Sullivan Hall, with shows in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida to follow, including a special one-off headlining appearance by Adrenaline Mob -- featuring Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater) and Russell Allen (Symphony X) -- this Sunday at Jaxx in Springfield, Virginia.

Creation's End features guitarists Rudy Albert (ex-Zandelle) and Marco Sfogli (James LaBrie Band), drummer Dario Rodriguez, vocalist Mike DiMeo (ex-Masterplan, ex-Riot) and bassist Joe Black (Chris Caffery, ex-Zandelle). The band is currently constructing a new album now, which will be released sometime in 2012.

Creation's End Announces Upcoming Shows

Creation's End has just announced the band's inclusion in the Uniting The Powers Of Metal 2011 East Coast Tour, as well as a special New York City performance with Suspyre.

First, on June 30th, Creation's End will scorch home town fans at a headlining show at the Sullivan Lounge in Manhattan, with support from New Jersey progressive metallers Suspyre and more bands to be announced shortly. This will be the band's sophomore live appearance, following the act's NYC debut show back in early December. The upcoming shows are as follows:

Creation's End Announces CD Release Show

Creation's End has announced the date for its record-release show for its debut album "A New Beginning." The band's first ever live performance is set to take place on Friday, December 3 at New York City's Ace Of Clubs. Also set to appear are The MP Project, Monstar Zero and Clearview.

Creation's End Announces New Album Details

Creation's End is the collaboration between guitarist Rudy Albert (ex-Zandelle) and drummer Dario Rodriguez, who have been playing music together since 1999 in various capacities. With a newly renovated studio and producer John Macaluso (James Labrie Band, Fool’s Game, ex-Ark, ex-TNT, ex-Yngwie Malsmteen) on board, Rudy and Dario set out to record eight reworked versions of songs that appeared on early demos.

They also recruited several musicians to round out the lineup, including Mike DiMeo, (ex-Masterplan, ex-Riot), Marco Sfogli (James LaBrie Band), and Joe Black (Chris Caffery, ex-Zandelle). The band's debut album "A New Beginning" is set to be released on November 9th, 2010 via New Jersey-based prog metal outfit Sensory Records.
