Doomentia Records has set November 18th as the international release date for a special split LP between Mordbrand and Gravehill. The label comments:
"You really thought that, after three splits and as many singles and albums (plus a compilation of all those random tracks) in ten years, Mordbrand would start to slow things down, didn’t you? You fool! They’re about to once again renew their collaboration with Doomentia, which got kickstarted with the Unmake EP in April 2013, with another slab of their very own crusty-yet-twisted brand of Swedish death metal, but this time sharing the wax with the Gravehill boys from Los Angeles, California.
"Business as usual, then? Nah, no quite. Conceived as stand-alone EPs, each with their own cover artwork and title, each side marks a new step in both bands' (d)evolution. While still raging, Mordbrand's half – dubbed 'In Nighted Waters,' on side B, and featuring spooky T. Ketola artwork – has a newly acquired creepy/subdued vibe, as suggested by the atmospheric layers of keyboards that engulf opener 'Decimation Reigns.' As a special treat to both longtime obscure DM fans and those who acquire this split, they’ve also recorded their own, rearranged version of Bluuurgh's 'Compost Christ' (from their 1990 Suffer Within EP) with former Gravehill frontman Mike Abominator on backing vocals. Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler of Autopsy and Kam Lee (Massacre, Death and Bone Gnawer) all made contributions to what threatens to be one of 2014's most skin-grating albums. "Death Curse" features artwork by Christopher Moyen (Incantation, Blasphemy and more).
Vocalist Mike Abominator had this to say about Death Curse: "We have some filthy fucking death metal terror here with 'Death Curse.' These are the things of nightmares, the stench that makes you puke. This is what this album will make you do when you hear it.
We are going with the raw, putrid and dismal live sound this time, to try and capture the feel of one of our live show performances, of which we feel hasn't been represented with our releases so far. Expect the same rotten and old school death metal from us. Fuck triggers! Fuck trends! Fuck technical bullshit! Fuck progress! AND FUCK YOU!"

Ticket information can be obtained here. This October also sees Dark Descent Records reach the four-year mark as a label. To celebrate, the label is holding a sale that runs from today through Saturday, Oct. 5. Dark Descent Records founder and owner Matt Calvert comments:

To mark this monumental event and the four year anniversary of the label, we will be running a four day sale in the web store from October 2 and culminating with the final day of the showcase on October 5. This is our way of saying thank you for your support for the bands and the label.

California death horde Gravehill is set for a weekend of blood and blasphemy when it invades Portland, OR for an appearance at the Northwestern Black Circle Festival 5 today on Saturday, August 10th. Sharing the stage with Gravehill will be Ghoul, Drawn & Quartered and more.
To celebrate its appearance at the festival, Gravehill is bringing along a special two-song demo featuring tracks from its upcoming third release, "Death Curse." Each copy is handmade, hand-numbered and each member of Gravehill has his own edition of the demo complete with a personal message. These demos are limited to 50 copies and will only be available at the fest.
For the rest of the world, Gravehill is now streaming a demo version of the song "Black Blood Rising," from the "Death Curse" sessions. Check it out below in the player. Gravehill vocalist Mike Abominator had this to say about Death Curse:
"We have some filthy fucking death metal terror here with these new 'songs' (more like hymns of death noise.) These are the things of nightmares, the stench that makes you puke. This is what this album will make you do when you hear it. The 'demos' that we are floating around actually fucking suck. We threw them together and wasted our time doing them for a stupid fucking waste of time that I won't get into. But we are spreading the plague of the new material anyways.
In the meantime, we slaughtered the material and got it ready for the album recording, of which we have started doing at Trench Studios with John Haddad (Hirax, Phobia, Coffin Texts, Abysmal Dawn, Murder Construct, Final Conflict and many more) and our very own Hellheim Studios. We are going with the raw, putrid and dismal live sound this time, as live as we can get it, to try and capture the feel of one of our live performances, of which we feel hasn't been represented with our releases so far. Expect the same rotten and old school death metal from us. Fuck triggers! Fuck trends! Fuck technical bullshit! Fuck progress! And Fuck You!"

Dark Descent Records Showcase lineup:
California's Gravehill is currently working on a new album, and has now checked in with the following update about J. Corpsemolester recording bass for the release:
"Studio update: Corpse entered the studio last week to lay down bass tracks. Unfortunately he was way too high on a cocktail of drugs to keep time with anything for a majority of it.
"The first night he vomited up a burrito, passed out in his own filth, and woke to the tender caress of a homeless man stroking his vomit-smeared cheek and whispering sweet nothings in his ear. Luckily for Corpse, he has tenure in Gravehill so we can't fire him.
"Oddly enough his drug-fueled recording sessions almost scared the rest of the band straight. Almost. Next up...rhythm guitars!"

In recent news, Deceased announced work on a new album for Hells Headbangers, entitled "Ghostly White." King Fowley had the following to say about the forthcoming album:
"This record will be a very produced musical journey that will capture the complete morbid side of Deceased. If we do what we are setting out to do, it will ooze of dark melody without forgetting the rough aggressive edges and catchiness in the songwriting that we've kept in our sound since day one. There will be a complete haunting aura throughout the record! A few songs will be lengthy tracks, including a 15-minute ride. Fitting interludes will lock in the actual tracks, and little jolts of madness will also rear their ugly heads from time to time. This is a musical adventure we've been waiting to take, and now's the time. Get out your woolen overcoats, the funeral is about to begin...." More...
Gravehill will be supporting Deceased for the upcoming "March of the Cadavers" 2013 tour, with dates available below. Gravehill also commented:
"These dates will mark our first live outing for 2013, we will be busy rehearsing then recording our next album, the follow up to 'When all Roads Lead to Hell' throughout January and February then finishing by the end of March. California death horde Gravehill has issued the following statement regarding the cancellation of their planned performance at this year's Goregrowler's Ball:
"We were saddened and pissed off, to say the least, to hear from Goregrowler's Entertainment about their decision to not bring us out for the Fest in San Antonio on the days of November 18th-20th. It is unfortunate and we just wanted to let all of our friends and fans down there that we had no control over this situation and are disappointed beyond belief.
"I will not get into every aspect of what went down and what was said and agreed upon. I also won't sit here and bash anyone at the Goregrowlers camp and get into any of that type of crap. What I will do is be honest and give you a 'long story short'. Gravehill was one of the first bands asked to be a part of this years fest. I was also instrumental in helping them book a few of the bands that are playing. More...
California death horde Gravehill, who recently released their LP "When All Roads Lead to Hell," is pleased to announce a string of dates with Singapore's blackened death/thrash band Impiety. Gravehill dates with Impiety are as follows: More...
Southern California death metal act Gravehill's first proper debut album, titled "When All Roads Lead to Hell," is set for release on October 20th, 2011. Since the band's last release on Ibex Moon Records, guitarist Matt Harvey (Exhumed) has joined the group full-time combining more depth and a wall of thick, demented riffing with Mike Abominator's vocal onslaught and Thorgrimm's work behind the kit.
Gravehill's "When All Road Leads to Hell" comes in 12" LP release in heavy vinyl 180gram, 350 gram deluxe jacket with A3 inlay full color poster. The release is limited to 500 copies worldwide: 200 bronze colored and 300 classic black.
Due to contract obligations with their record label, Woods of Ypres is forced to cancel their appearance at this year's Goregrowler's Ball. The band will be writing and recording a new album instead and apologizes to their fans for this cancellation and promised to make it up.
Replacing Woods of Ypres on this Metalunderground.com-sponsored festival will be Dehumanized, who has not played a live show in nearly ten years.
Tickets for the fifth annual Goregrowler's Ball are on sale now. The event is set to take place in San Antonio, Texas on November 18-20, 2011.
The latest bands confirmed are as follows: More...
Fatigue had definitely begun to set in by Day Four. Through the beer belly, muscle ache (everyone’s hotel was up the hill), blown-out senses, and heat I thought could only happen in the south, I persevered though badly worn. The venue was getting pretty rough also. Everyone was tired, but still partying hard. Inside it was sticky and stinky like it had not been before. But that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the rest of the great lineup on the last day of the mighty MDF.
Bright and early in the afternoon (although it seemed like night in the main room), hometown boys Visceral Disgorge began the festivities. They brought to mind the early works of death metal. Trauma and gore galore, this band encompassed the snarl inhaled low growls, din-destroying high tuned snare, gallop picking guitar done by Eric.
Bad acid Trip’s singer Dirk Rogers opening question to us was, “Is everyone drunk?,” and by just the sight of the crowd through the hours it was obvious that we all were. Crazed rock riffage and grindcore led this band to a energetic frenzy. Dirk was like Ian Curtis and Johnny Rotten; a twisted love child onstage. This band had true dynamic ranging from guttural blasts to hardcore breakdowns to strange, psychotic circus dementia. More...
The Maryland Deathfest organizers report that "Sonar will be re-opening before MDF, and technically they already have."
As previously reported, the venue of the Maryland Deathfest was up in the air when Baltimore's Sonar nightclub failed to renew their liquor license and closed its doors.
The organizers futher commented: "These last couple of days have been incredibly confusing and stressful, but we are currently back to the regularly scheduled program. And don't worry, beyond plan B is a plan C, because that's how we roll. See you in a couple of weeks."
As such, the set times that were previously announced should now hold.
