Wolf Part Ways With Bassist

Swedish metallers WOLF have announced the departure of bassist Mikael Goding. His final appearance with the band will take place at the Headbangers Open Air festival, set to take place July 12-14 in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany.

Commented Mikael: "To put it simple: too much business and mini-van, and [too little] music. The reason we started the band was that we wanted to create great new wave of British heavy metal. And we certainly have! The thing that I always have enjoyed most with WOLF is to see a song grow during rehearsals. Thinking: man! This is a really good song, and we have done it together. Now with Tobias [Kellgren; drums] and Johannes [Losbäck; guitar] living on the west coast, we hardly rehearse at all and that sucks! Unfortunately, releasing an album isn't just about music, there is a lot of business involved, and I hate that shit! Playing a gig is a lot more than the gig, and I hate that shit to! Last gig (Bang Your Head!!!) we played 40 minutes and we were away for 50 hours, and we didn't get any money at all. The worst part with leaving WOLF is how much I'll miss the fans. Even if there aren't legions of them, there is still some who are really dedicated. Like Joxe, who comes to almost every show we play in Europe. So thank you all who have bought the record and all who have been at gigs for the past '12 wasted years.'"

WOLF's performance at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden on June 6, 2007 was recorded by the Swedish national radio show "P3 Rock" and will be broadcast later in the year.

WOLF's latest album, "The Black Flame", was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. The follow-up to 2004's "Evil Star" is the first album to feature new drummer Tobias R Kellgren and longtime session/live guitarist Johannes Losbäck alongside founding members Niklas Stålvind (vocals, lead guitar) and Mikael Goding. A video for the song "I Will Kill Again" has been posted onliine at YouTube.com.

Wolf Announce Release Date, Video Clip And More

Swedish metallers Wolf have announced an October 3rd North American release date for their fourth album, "The Black Flame", to be released through Prosthetic Records. Artwork for the up-coming effort has been posted here. The band is also preparing the first video clip from the new album, to be done for the opening song, "I Will Kill Again". Wolf had this to say on the subject;

Hi, all. We're at the house (haunted of course) in the town off Umeå in Sweden recording the video for the song I Will Kill Again from the upcoming album. Director Owe R Kill Lingwall (Nocturnal Rites) is doing his very best to make us look evil (that means he's doing nothing, cause we're already evil). Tormentor [bassist Mikael Goding] is happy cause Westham kicked Charltons arse. Axeman [guitarist Johannes Losbäck] is happy cause he likes metal. Hammershark [drummer Tobias Kellgren] is happy cause he's getting paid tomorrow and Viper [vocalist/guitarist Niklas Stållvind] is not happy cause he's being tortured by the Killer. And yes...Celtic Frost rules.

The tracklist for "The Black Flame" looks like this:

01 - I Will Kill Again
02 - At The Graveyard
03 - Black Magic
04 - The Bite
05 - Make Friends With Your Nightmares
06 - Demon
07 - The Dead
08 - Seize The Night
09 - Steelwinged Savage Reaper
10 - Children Of The Black Flame

Wolf's Rehearsal Room Burglarized

The rehersal room of the Swedish heavy metal band Wolf has been burglarized, two guitars have been stolen. The following message have been posted at the official Wolf website:

Some fucko (must be a Limahl-fan) has broken in to our rehearsal and stolen BOTH of Nicks flying V's, plus two cordless systems and some stereo equipment.

One of the guitars is a one of a kind custom built V-model for Nick, Black with flames, one zebra-coloured DiMarzio-mike and a zebra mighty mike by the neck; it's the same shape as a Epiphone Flying V. It was stowed in a black hard case. The other is a Gibson Flying V 67, Cherry, with two DiMarzio Super Distortion mikes. The guitar was stowed in the original case.

See a pic of both guitars in action here.

Tips that lead to the recovery of one or both of these guitars will be rewarded with eternal heavy metal love from Wolf plus the usual finders fee.

In the unlikely event that it is Black Oak Arkansas that has stolen our gear, we might forget about the incident and just advise them to use a local music store for any future thefts. Thank you.
