Wolf Posts New Studio Blog Online

Swedish metallers Wolf has posted the following studio blog online:

"Driving 4 hours to Örebro to record is no prob as long as you have plenty of coffea, Ballerina kex and cruise control. I was very excited to put down my leads for Ravenous since i thought i'd done good pre-work. And i did! YEAH! Sure, it's hard work and you get frustrated at points BUT if you get a 'feel' for it it doesn't matter how many takes you do. In the end, it sounds awesome and i hope the rest off the guys do to. I'm laying down my backround vocals aswell as additional vocals.

"We actually had to move from Studio Seven up to Niklas Vipers place since construction was going on and the builders was moving closer to the studio. Right now we're locked in at Viper's place to finnish off the record. Me, Viper, Roy Z and Viper's wife, Malin, who's constantly handing us beers and coffea aswell as rubbing our backs when we're tired. More...

Wolf Posts New Studio Report Online

Swedish heavy metallers Wolf has posted the following recording update online:

"Richard Raptor is done drumming. Well, not for good, just for the album offcourse. He packed up his gear late last night and is now heading off to Thailand for a welldeserved break (on the expense of our record company of course). Not only did he bash out 12 songs, he actually did 13. Not bad for a 25 year old drummer with 3 arms.

"Our producer wizard is staying the night to work his magic with the tracks Raptor laid down so that'll be a hard nights work for him. Well, thats why we pay him the big bucs. Let's just hope that the ghost in the cellar don't get him! More...

Century Media Celebrates 20th Anniversary

2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!

The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.

To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.

Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Here is the tracklisting: More...

Wolf Post Cover of Mercyful Fate Classic Online

Swedish metallers WOLF have issued the following update:

"As many of you know, and many of you DON'T know, WOLF did a cover of MERCYFUL FATE's 'A Dangerous Meeting' on the 2002 release 'Black Wings'. We thought we'd share that with those off you that missed out, so we 'gave' the song to the WOLF UK MySpace site. We're fans of metal, good metal that is, and there's no doubt about the impact MERCYFUL FATE have had on WOLF, so we did a cover of 'em to show our appreciation. Getting the (devilish) blessing from several MERCYFUL FATE members for that version made us believe in metal even more!"

Check out the song at their Myspace page.

Wolf Begin Writing New Material

Swedish thrashers WOLF have issued the following update:

"Writing for the new album is well on the way and we’re wrapping up the final things for a summer recording. We’ll give you more details as things move along.

On February 22-24, we’ll be recording a cover tune in Toyas Studio Seven Sweden/Örebro for a special release by Century Media records and the song we’ve taken on might not be the most obvious choice for a workingclass heavy metal band like Wolf, but rest assured, we're very excited and very proud to get a chance to record this song. Which one it is – we cannot reveal at the time, but we will do so soon.

As many off you’ve seen when watching us onstage lately is that Tobias “Hammershark” Kellgren is not with us anymore. It was a mutual decision taken way back in august that Hammershark was to leave due to lack of time to tour and personal issues, and we can’t let that hold us back. But as you might have noticed, we haven’t exactly been sitting around doing nothing. Nop, we’ve borrowed IN SOLITUDE drummer Uno “Piranha” Bruniosson as live/session drummer for shows and upcoming February recording. We will wait with announcing a permanent drummer so we’re not making any speedy decisions to jeopardize Wolf's or Uno’s future carriers. We’re hard at work, harder than ever, and we goddamn love it! The wolf is loose and was last seen heading your way."

Wolf Post 2007 Wrap Up

Sweden's WOLF have issued the following 2007 year-end update:

"Where's the power gone? Thanx 2007!

We wanna thank each and every one of you that picked up our album, came to the shows, got yourself a t-shirt, said 'hi' and gave us beer, hanged out, played with us or simply just supported heavy metal for a great 2007. We WILL make some noise in 2008, be sure of that!

Here's the list to sum it all up:

Best on stage move: Anders Tornado's striptease at Bloodstock Festival (thank God (?) for YouTube)

Most stupid: Johannes Axeman when talking to Vinnie Appice and taking pictures with him at Bang Your Head Fest and not remembering any of it… Damn that free beer…

Most crazy stories told: Breakfast with GRIM REAPER at the hotel… Funny 'shit'.

Worst catering: Two bags of crisps and a bottle of water…for 2 bands somewhere in the UK.

Best onstage comment: Niklas Viper going, 'Someone told us that we're too metal for our own good. We say, you can NEVER be too metal for your own good!'

2nd runner up: Johannes Axeman at Bloodstock said, 'Where's the power gone? Hell, we don't need power, we're a HEAVY metal band.'

3rd runner up: Tobias Hammershark said, 'It's a lose/lose situation.'

The 'what the hell' moment: Spotting the HUGE signing queue at Bloodstock Fest. Good fun. Thanx to all of you.

Most prepared: All of us on the tour bus watching Braveheart before the gigs in Scotland.

Most rocking moment: The show at Sweden Rock Fest - 60 minutes of New Wave of Swedish / British Heavy Metal…in Sweden…

Tallest: Jensen of THE HAUNTED.

Longest wait: 9 hours at Heathrow to catch the flight home after The Cursed Earth tour.

Funniest: Setting our bass player's arse on fire at Bang Your Head Fest.

Coolest chicks: GIRLSCHOOL. Hell, they rock!

Worst moment: Having to cancel Hard Rock Hell Fest after putting down hours of work to make it happen. Damn canceling!

Coolest fan: Joxxe."
