Tenth Street Entertainment — which represents MÖTLEY CRÜE — has shot down as (at least partially) "blatantly false and completely unfounded" Internet rumors that CRÜE will headline a festival-type tour called "Cruefest", with support from several other artists from the Tenth Street management stable, including BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, SIXX: A.M. and DROWNING POOL. According to Tenth Street, CRÜE's April 15 press conference/announcement in Los Angeles will relate to "a few" (but presumably not all) of the following artists:
PUDDLE OF MUDD
THEORY OF DEADMAN
THREE DAYS GRACE
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE
BELLE & SEBASTIAN
3 DOORS DOWN
All four members of CRÜE will be present at the April 15 press conference at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as "by far...one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!" The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official CRÜE site.

Puddle of Mudd have completed the recording of their third major label album. The disc is scheduled for a spring 2007 release with a supporting tour to follow.

Former ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell will be teaming up with PUDDLE OF MUDD frontman Wes Scantlin for a rare "unplugged" performance on Sunday, July 31 at Rain at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cantrell recently told MTV.com that he has been working on his new solo album with several high-profile musicians, including METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo, ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Wyse, ex-JANE'S ADDICTION drummer Stephen Perkins, ALICE IN CHAINS' Sean Kinney and Mike Inez, producer Marti Frederiksen (MICK JAGGER, AEROSMITH) and FAITH NO MORE's Mike Bordin, who played drums on Cantrell's most recent disc, 2002's "Degradation Trip".
Travis Hay of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has issued the following report:
Who would've thought Maynard James Keenan, the spooky singer for TOOL and A PERFECT CIRCLE, would have made a near-perfect singer for ALICE IN CHAINS? That was one of the many surprises Friday night when some of Seattle's brightest musical stars came out for a cause at Premier nightclub.
The cause was a benefit concert for victims of last year's tsunami and the stars included Ann and Nancy Wilson of HEART, NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic, SUPERSUCKERS, SIR MIX-A-LOT, THE CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION and others. But the brightest stars were the remaining members of ALICE IN CHAINS — drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez and guitarist Jerry Cantrell — who performed together for the first time in six years.
Novoselic acted as emcee for the show, which was put on by radio station K-Rock (KRQI-FM/96.5) and raised more than $100,000 for relief efforts. More...
Former Extreme members Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Gary Cherone (vocals) and Paul Geary (drums) will reunite for WAAF's Hillman 15th Anniversary Concert as part of the 2004 Taste of Boston on September 18 on City Hall Plaza in Boston. Also set to perform are Puddle Of Mudd and The Drop Kick Murphys, among others. More information is available at www.tasteofboston.com.
Bettencourt, Cherone, Geary and Mike Mangini (drums) joined forces with Carl Restivo on bass (replacing original bassist Pat Badger) last month for several special Extreme shows as part of the Azores festivals on the Portugese archipelago of the Azores.
In an interview with Canada's Chart magazine, PUDDLE OF MUDD frontman Wes Scantlin unleashed on LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst.
"He doesn't write our songs, he doesn't produce our songs, he doesn't do anything for us. He doesn't do our videos anymore. He doesn't do anything for this band," Wes said. He added, "I don't know what he's doing, I don't know what the guy's like. All I know is that he's like Mr. Hollywood guy, Mr. Celebrity. Like, 'I don't hang out with anybody except Hollywood celebrities'. Every single fucking interview I've ever fucking done, I get asked about that fucking guy. I don't have anything against him, but I haven't talked to the guy in a fucking year and a half. And for me to do interviews all the time and be asked about this certain individual... People thinks he writes music with me or something. He does not do that. I just don't get it. We have nothing in common. He doesn't even call us, he has his assistant call us to congratulate us on our record. Yeah, that's how pathetic he is."
