Desultory Posts New Album Trailer Online
Swedish death metal act Desultory has posted a new video trailer online to promote its forthcoming studio album "Counting Our Scars." "Counting Our Scars" is set for release on January 17, 2011. You can view the trailer below:
Desultory Reveals Album Artwork
The album artwork for "Counting Our Scars", the new full-length release from reunited Swedish death metallers Desultory is now revealed. The album artwork and layout was designed and conceptualized by artist Travis Smith (Nevermore, Opeth, Amorphis, King Diamond, etc) and can be seen here. In conjunction with the soon-to-be released album, the album-opener "In A Cage" is now available for preview on the Pulverised Records official Myspace page.
Comments Desultory singer / guitar-player Klas Morberg: "It’s been more than a year now since we entered the studio to record the first Desultory album in over a decade. This album will write a new chapter in the history of the band and it has been with great anticipation and endurance we have waited for the cover art to take form. We wanted the whole package, from music and lyrics to the visual appearance to communicate the same feeling, and as it turned out, this work had to take time. Now, at the very last hours of this long year, we are finally ready to reveal it all to you. We hope you think it was worth the wait, we do."
Desultory To Reissue Previous Albums
Reunited Swedish death metallers Desultory will reissue deluxe editions of their "Into Eternity" and "Bitterness" full-lengths via Singapore's Pulverised Records. The albums were initially released via Metal Blade Records in 1993 and 1994 respectively. To commemorate these two offerings, both discs will be released together with bonus tracks from three "Desultory" demos circa '90 - '91. In addition, each record, originally produced by Sunlight Studio owner/producer Tomas Skogsberg, will be remastered by multi-instrumentalist/producer Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio in Sweden.
Said Swanö of the undertaking: "I've been remastering Desultory's demos and first two full lengths. The play time is more than 80 minutes! All the material has been restored to fit nicely together in the same playlist, and it's amazing how much a few small tweaks can change the overall sound from 'demo' to 'album.' A funny anecdote is that I 'forced' the band to go to the home of Tomas Skogsberg in the middle of nowhere and pick up the original DAT tapes of the demos. Maximum quality achieved!"
The front covers and inside booklets have all bean tweaked with a subtle redesign by Greek graphic artist Anestis Goudas of Derz Design (Rotting Christ, I.C.S Vortex, Shagrath etc.) and come with detailed liner notes by Terrorizer Magazine writer Olivier "Zoltar" Badin, with special assistance from Desultory frontman/guitarist Klas Morberg. Desultory never died, it just went down deep below and beneath the surface it slowly kept growing. Throughout the years, there are many of you out there who never stopped waiting, asking the same question over and over. Now when we finally meet again, 'Counting Our Scars' feels like liberation, the bleeding is over. This album is for all of us who never stopped waiting."
Desultory To Enter the Studio in November
Reunited Swedish death metallers DESULTORY will begin recording their as-yet-untitled new full-length in November with producer Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio in Sweden (Watain, In Battle, Nominon). The album will mark the band's first album in nearly 14 years.
DESULTORY guitarist Håkan Morberg comments, "The songs are a mix of fast and heavy melodic death metal with dark and melancholic lyrics, all in the true spirit of DESULTORY. The album will be a logical continuation of Into Eternity (1993) and Bitterness (1994) and will be a strong bridge linking the past to the present."
