Stream Of Passion Issues Wantijpop Festival Recap

Bassist Johan van Stratum of Stream of Passion has issued the following recap of the recent Wantijpop Festival in Holland:

"It’s always fun playing 2 days in a row, especially when you wake up in the morning, you see the sun is shining nicely and you know you’re gonna be playing on an outside stage.

"Wantijpop is a bit more of a mainstream festival, with acts playing hip hop, pop rock and of course we were there to make it all a bit heavier hehe!

"Disadvantage of a festival is that you cannot do a full soundcheck, a linecheck is the only thing possible and lasts for 5 minutes. Fortunately Pieter, our soundengineer since 2005, knows what to do with these situations. It’s nice to know that you don’t have to worry about those things because our crew rocks!

"During the day everybody was walking around on the field a bit, watching some bands, but when we had to go build up on stage, everybody was getting nicely concentrated. With this line up we hadn’t played on such a big festival, so some tension was noticeable on all of the faces. More...

Stream Of Passion Parts Ways With Drummer

Napalm Records has issued the following announcement about Stream Of Passion acquiring a new drummer:

"After many years of great musical collaboration, Stream of Passion and drummer Davy Mickers decided to part ways. Due to personal reasons, Davy took this step as he needs to devote more of his time to his family. Thus, he could not longer give Stream of Passion 100% of his energy. The band members wish him much happiness on this new journey in his life!

"Stream of Passion is thrilled to present their fans with their new drummer: Martijn Peters. Martijn earned his extraordinary skills by playing and touring with bands like novAct, Backwater and Stentorian. He joined Stream of Passion just in time to play with them on the upcoming dates in support of their highly anticipated new album “The Flame Within”.

"In addition, Stream of Passion relaunched their MySpace site and a new song – entitled “When you hurt me the most” – is available for the fans’ listening pleasure."

Stream Of Passion Announces New Album Details

Stream of Passion has issued the following statement about their upcoming album:

"Originally the brainchild of Arjen Lucassen's (Ayreon, Star One...), Stream of Passion is now ready to release their second studio album. "The Flame Within" leaves its predecessor in the dust thanks to maturer songwriting that presents a further developed band able to give Gothic Metal a newfound profundity. Carried by Marcela Bovios' fantastic vocal lines, Stream of Passion delivers the entire spectrum of human emotions-at times dreamy and melancholic, at others uninhibited and forward pressing. In this way, heavy riffs merge with romantic undertones in majestic unity. Jens Bogren's (Fascination Street Studios) mastering work allows the tracks' subtle nuances to come into play. "The Flame Within" is more than a loosely arranged sequence of songs, but rather a holistic Gothic Metal masterpiece complete with mystic elements and sonorous symphonic romanticism."

The track listing for the album will be as follows:

1.The Art Of Loss
2.In The End
3.Now Or Never
4.When You Hurt Me The Most
5.Run Away
6.Games We Play
7.This Endless Night
8.My Leader
9.Burn My Pain
10.Let Me In
11.Street Spirit
12.A Part Of You
13.All I Know

Stream of Passion Provides Studio Update

Stephan Schultz of Dutch gothic metal band Stream of Passion has nearly finished the guitar tracks for Stream of Passion's upcoming album (with no revealed title).

"After days of hard work and driving through snowy white Holland we finally laid down the last guitar walls of the new album! I wish you could all hear the results! It really sounds kick ass!

"I then had a few weeks to write new guitar solos (replacing the ones I wasn’t happy with) or optimize the ones I already had. After I had written the solos I had two weeks to practice them. Too bad those weeks were filled with Christmas dinners and New Years Eve and New Years Day parties…

"We recorded the solos on the 2nd of January (still a little bit hung over from a kind of food poisoning I had because of the six Oyster cocktails I had two days earlier - don’t ask) within 5 hours. They sound really cool and extreme (if I do say so myself) and I’m really happy with the results.

Stephan posted some studio pictures at the stream of passion blog here. There's also a video of him in the studio, which is shown below.

Stream Of Passion Issues Recording Update

Stream of Passion has issued the following update about the recording process of their upcoming album:

With the drums recorded in record-breaking time it was up to the guitar players to enter the Split Second Sound Studio in Tilburg and lay down the huge wall of distorted (and sometimes not so distorted) sound. With 2 guitar players it's always a matter of getting everything in sync and in the same key. So during the entire pre-production we fiddled around with the details until every note was correct and played in such a way that it became tight as a really, really tight thing. ;)

First day started off with carrying all the equipment in, which included a multitude of guitars and 3 guitar amp heads. And this was just an addition to all the stuff that was already there, as Jochem owns a freight load of different amps and guitars. The next couple of hours were filled with connecting everything and testing it, moving the mics, searching for that right sound. With a Diezel, a Peavey 5150 and a Mesa Stiletto we had all the sounds we needed. More...

Stream Of Passion Begins Recording New Album

Stream Of Passion has posted the following message online:

"The members of Stream Of Passion are already busy laying down the final tracks for their second studio album! To stick to their traditional distributed and de-centralized way of working, the band is making use of different studios and locations to create the sound they're looking for.

"Joining the team are renowned Dutch producers Joost van den Broek (AFTER FOREVER) and Jochem Jacobs (TEXTURES). The combination of their influences is just what the band was looking for: heavy and powerful on one side, atmospheric and melodic on the other.

"Stay tuned for upcoming studio reports, where the band members write about their experiences during recordings and fill you in on the recording progress!"
