Double Dragon Comments On Slayer, Megadeth Tour
Australia’s Double Dragon have recently completed their supporting tour with Slayer and Megadeth. The band supported the metal titans in all states of Australia.
Vocalist Lee Gardiner comments: “Wow, what a crazy week, supporting 50% of the big four of Thrash metal was a dream come true to say the least. From the first show in Brisbane, to the final show in Perth on Tuesday, we had a glimpse of the machines that are Megadeth and Slayer, and what machines they are! Playing before Megadeth and Slayer was a task in its self, I know myself that if I had bought tickets I would be excited enough to unleash hell on the unsuspecting support bands, but we had fantastic reactions and support from the crowds in every city, and I would really like to thank the Australian metal public for showing their respects and heading down to the fence to bang out for us.
“The whole tour was filled with so any life long memories, watching Slayer thrash out new tracks on sound checks, Megadeth’s complete and utter professionalism and flawless performances, singing 'Hate World Wide' with Slayer in Melbourne when Tom’s voice went, watching my friend Paul Haug (Contrive) sing Dead Skin Mask perfectly in Melbourne – even throwing in the ..'the next song is about a man called Ed…' too the crowds adoration, to meeting Dave Mustaine and seeing how he goes out of his way for his fans in every city with their meet and greets etc, the whole thing personally was a celebration of metal and its supporters, and on behalf of Double Dragon we cant thank Megadeth, Slayer and the promoters enough for the experience of a lifetime.”
Following the release of their debut album, "Devastator," in Australia, the band is now hard at work recording their second album before they had out on the road again with Chimaira in 2010 for an Australian tour.
On the new material Lee states “We have definitely changed alot in our five years, even since our release of our debut album , and this time around we are really just wanting to write the best metal we can – we are not going to say its heavier than DEVASTATOR and all the usual pre-album cliché’s, but it will be more mature and more musical, obviously because we all get better at our instruments the longer we play! We also are seeking a home for our material outside of Australia, as we are now yearning to play some shows in Europe, USA and Japan, so if your that guy/girl lets talk, we are ready and waiting”
With the band currently unsigned, Double Dragon will be spending the next 6 months recording and seeking a suitable home for their new album, which promises to be “More metal than a robot’s cock, Aussie style!”

Megadeth Thanks Australian Fans
Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has issued the following statement thanking his Australian fans:
"Droogies!
"I wanted to take the time this morning to thank all of our wonderful Australian Droogies; I have seen so many familiar faces and friends down here and that it is such an enjoyable time this time. I was looking for Emily (didn't see her), and I was at the beach yesterday with Shawn Drover and Skippy (from Perth), and the many, many fan club members that won the meet and greet passes that we got to meet and have fun with.
"A huge thank you to Roadrunner Australia; to Ben Ralph, and his staff: Bob and Darren, and all of the great press and radio/TV people and their crews (what a great job you all did). I'd like to thank all of the staff and crew for our band, my manager Mark Adelman and my agent Mike Dewdney of ITB, the promoter Chris Moses of Blue Murder and our promoter rep Charney (she is f'ing awesome), and all of the internal travel people we worked with on this leg of the tour.
"I especially wanted to thank Slayer, their crew, and their manager Rick Sales. I am sorry that Tom lost his voice, and he is such a dymanic singer that there is not really anyone who can join them and do what Mr. Araya does. I did hope that Kerry would have be able to do a song when we were in Adelaide, but I guess I will just have to settle on how good things are for now and be happy with that. Most importantly I need to thank my family for letting me follow my dreams, because they are all coming true.
"I love you all."
Megadeth's upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...
Slayer Forced to Cancel Adelaide Show
Slayer vocalist Tom Araya was advised by his doctors not to perform at the band's October 11th show at the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide, Australia, due to severe laryngitis. Slayer and the crew were on route to Adelaide with the full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the date due to doctor-mandated rest. Co-headliners Megadeth performed an extended set at the Thebarton.
The remainder of the shows will proceed as planned, with Slayer and Megadeth performing at Challenge Stadium in Perth this Tuesday 13th October, and Slayer performing a full set including the classic "Reign in Blood" album in its entirety at Luna Park Sydney this Thursday 15th October.
Slayer extends an apology to their Adelaide fans for their cancellation.
Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine, comments: "I am sorry that Tom lost his voice, and he is such a dymanic singer that there is not really anyone who can join them and do what Mr. Araya does. I did hope that Kerry would have be able to do a song when we were in Adelaide, but I guess I will just have to settle on how good things are for now and be happy with that."

Megadeth Frontman Denies "Big Four" Tour
In a recent message to the fans, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has spoken about the success of the bands latest record, "Endgame" and the bands long running feud with Metallica. The message reads as follows:
"I love you all so much. I see how much you want to help me, and how you are all helping squash the METALLICA bashing, and the poll at MH. I see how you are going out to the streets and checking in the stores and calling up the stations, and I appreciate it.
"The hard work begins now, and that starts with me. We have to prepare for a Phase 2 from the label (which should go without saying), but we are getting ready to choose a new single and Roadrunner's President told my manager Mark Adelman (best Megs manager to date), that they 'decided that they were going to go with a phase 2 for the new record.' I told our beloved webmaster this and in his childlike honesty he said, 'um, shouldn't there be like a phase 3, 4, and 5 too?' I said, 'One would think so,' so, I have to chalk this up to the hard work that you are all doing for us out on the streets.
"We are going to make some really killer posters available to you guys to download and print up to distribute in your towns and take to your favourite places (including but not limited to) clubs, stores, venues, events, arcades, tracks, courts, fields, and gyms. In return, we decided that we are going to make some show passes only available for those who really can rise to the occasion on helping us get in the trenches and again (including but not limited to) flier, poster, call and request, survey, research, and promote the band. Megadeth Album Hits #1 on Canadian Hard Rock Chart
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has checked in with the Canadian chart position for the band's latest album, "Endgame."
"I just received the official word on the chart position for My homeland, Canada, to which 'Endgame' is #4 on the billboard charts, and #1 on the Canadian 'Hard Rock' billboard charts!!!!!!!!!!!! To say that this thrills me, is a huge understatement, believe me!! I am very greateful to all who made the effort to buy the c.d. and make a difference. To be #1 on any chart is a huge thrill, and it is something we do not take for granted.
"My day just became a little bit better."
Megadeth Announces "Endgame" Chart Positions
Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has issued the following statement about the chart positions for their new album "Endgame:"
"We are starting to receive some chart positions for Endgame. These are the 1st to arrive....
"Germany - #21, U.K. - #24, Australia - #11
"For Canada, we are receiving word that Endgame will be a top 20 record, which of course please me greatly ( I am hoping for a single digit chart position, just as UA was - we'll see) We have to thank all of YOU who support the cause, and get out there to purchase the record (what a concept, eh??) without your support, these chart positions simply cannot happen, so we are grateful, believe me. By weeks end, we should receive a lot more information on other chart positions throughout planet earth, so as always, keep checking in here with us to get the latest scoop, etc.
"With all this said, keep at it, people. Your help here is proof positive that spreading the word is making a difference. So many of you here on the boards are stepping up and making a big difference - When the other chart numbers come in, you will see it for yourselves. Again, a big THANK YOU!!!"
Metallica Bassist Speaks About "Big Four" Tour
When recently talking to Metromix, Metallica bass player Robert Trujillo confirmed that the band is trying to put together a tour between themselves, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, also known as the "Big Four" of Thrash Metal. Speaking on the idea, he said; "I think it's great. We've had a few different conversations on the subject. . . . There's a lot of history there. I think it'd be great for metal. I don't think all four bands have played together at the same time." Pressed as to whether the rumors of the tour were true, Trujillo answered, "There is, but nothing's concrete. It's not a sealed deal. We're working on it."
Hail! Issues New Tour Recap
Hail!, the group featuring David Ellefson, Jimmy Degrasso (ex-Megadeth), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) and Tim "Ripper" Owens, has issued the following recap of their recent European tour dates:
"SEPTEMBER 9 2009 (9,9,09, or maybe upside down 666?) We finished up our Denmark shows on Tuesday September 8 and flew Finnair flight #666 to Helsinki on Wednesday (‘Hell, and fire, were sworn to be released’). Aside from some hellish turbulence on landing the flight was otherwise non-eventful and was our only day off on the tour.
"SEPTEMBER 10, 2009 Ironically, the venue in Helsinki was an old church refurbished into a hip night club and music venue called DANTE'S HIGHLIGHT (seems a bit sacrilegious, doesn't it?). In its honor, during the set Andreas broke into ‘The Number of The Beast’, which we all joined in on up until the second verse when we realized we didn't exactly know the rest of the song very well without rehearsing it! Actually, that's been a cool trait of HAIL!, where we bust into songs not on the set list for about 90 seconds and then stop part way through, pretty much playing them off the cuff. It's comes from inspiration and is certainly something most metal bands never get to do outside of a casual and relaxed setting like this.
"We also invited Helsinki up-and-comer Jules Navari from PROFANE OMEN onstage to sing ‘Walk’ with us, which he kicked ass on. Later, Andreas and Roy finished ‘South of Heaven’ and segued into SLAYER's ‘Jesus Save's’. Must have been in honor of the church and flight #666! More...

Megadeth Comments On "Head Crusher" Video
Megadeth front man has issued the following statement about their recent video for the song "Head Crusher:"
"Droogies!
"I have been surfing around the site today, whilst doing my Yoga workout, and working some more around the studio; reviewing the Head Crusher video etc., etc., etc.
"Speaking of the HC vidi, there are three versions: My extreme version - not really extreme, just the real thing that hasn't been emasculated for broadcast; the boradcast version, which isn't really too different from the etreme version; and the UK version, which has no fight scene in it at all.
"The girl in the vidi is smokin' and she is really skilled at MMA. I asked to really focus in on her skills and not so much how beautiful she was, because the world is full of hot chicks. We needed someone to play a specific role. That she did! Our fighters too were great. In fact you should call Jorge Oliviera at TheLIVELine and leave him a message. I am going to workout with him a few times and talk to him about maybe putting up some Ju-Jitsu lessons for a contest for TLL.
"The main fighter was in one of Rob Zombie's recent movies, and was a good sport about letting that pretty, sexy, talented MMA/model jump on him at the end, straddle him (we had to twist his arm ), and the bonus was she got to beat his head in [not really]. I almost could read everyone's mind around her when she did it too. It was pretty easy because we were ALL thinking it.
"As I near another birthday, I want to say that while you seem to think that I have given YOU the present, meaning ENDGAME, I disagree. The real present is your support and love, again meaning the present is YOU.
"Sure it hurts to see people here that go to the extent to lurk with a fake name and go through the whole process of getting registered here, just to come in here lobbing grenades at everyone. Sometimes banning cures it, sometimes not. Please remember that I play music because I love to play, but that doesn't mean that your opinions or your approval doesn't matter to me. I am still the boy next door; an old boy, but still a boy.
"All of the positive comments that have come from around the world leave me scratching my head and eternally grateful, but it also makes it really hard to tolerate people that say the record sucks. I can't help but think, ‘this is what happens when cousins f*ck each other,’ and keep on with my life. More...
Double Dragon Confirmed As Slayer/Megadeth Support
Adelaide’s Double Dragon have been confirmed as the opening band on the upcoming Slayer/Megadeth Australian Tour in October.
The band will be appearing at all Australian dates. With a new album in the works, we really couldn’t be happier right now!”
