Tristania Issues Live Show Recap
Gothic metal band Tristania has issued the following statement about their recent live shows:
"On behalf of the band I would like to express our deepest gratitude to the ones who attended our shows in Jørpeland and Kristiansand last weekend. Thanks for making this weekend the special party it was.
"These two shows are probably the most exclusive ones we..ve ever done - with one surprise being revealed after the other. I think it felt equally special for the people in the audience and the nine of us who were on stage on Friday and Saturday.
"Of course, the biggest surprise of them all was the announcement of Kjetil..s role as a stand-in for Østen, who is awaiting his twins in a couple of months. All of us are very happy for Østen and Silje, and we wish them all the best with their family. Østen will surely be missed, though, when we now will do tours without him, as he..s been a part of the live edition of Tristania since 1999. He is a social cornerstone in our band. At the same time, I know now that we couldn't have found have found a better stand-in for Østen than Kjetil. He is a good friend of us from before, and his great ability as singer and stage personality he is the perfect choice to replace Østen, while he will be busy with changing diapers and sleepless nights.

Tristania Announces Bassist Replacement
Gothic metal band Tristania have issued the following statement about replacing their bassist:
"As you all know, Rune has only played a few shows with Tristania during the last years. Due to him not being able or motivated to tour we've been using a session musician on bass for our tours in the last couple of years (Kjell Hagen, ex-Trail of Tears). In addition, Rune became a father last year. As a result of this, both Rune and the rest of the band agreed that it was time to find a new bass player. Tristania would like to thank Rune for the great years we had in Tristania together and we wish him all the best for the future.
"At the same time, we are delighted to announce the new bass player in Tristania; Ole Vistnes. We first started to work with Ole about a year ago, and it worked out great in every way. Some of you have already seen Ole on stage with us last year. The rest of you will surely get the opportunity to do so during the upcoming tours in 2009.
"Ole is an amazing bassist, who has a degree in his instrument from the University in Kristiansand. He is a great guy that fits perfectly into the Tristania family. In addition, he is a skilled composer and has been heavily involved in the songwriting for the upcoming album."

Tristania Confirmed For Wacken Open Air 2009
A post on the official Wacken Open Air festival website reads as follows:
"Dear Metalheads,
For the 20th anniversary of the W:O:A, gothic metal band Tristania has now been confirmed. The Norwegian band has been successfully touring since October last year with new frontwoman Mariangela Demurtas."
Wacken Open Air 2009 is scheduled to take place from July 30th - August 1st in Wacken, Germany.
Other acts confirmed for the festival are AMON AMARTH, IN EXTREMO, CATHEDRAL, EINHERJER and MACHINE HEAD.
Tristania Parts Ways With Guitar Player
Gothic metal band Tristania have parted ways with their guitar player Svein Terje Solvang.
Tristania's male vocalist Østen Bergøy issued an update on the band's MySpace page stating "Putting a last hand on the preparations for WGT (Wave Gotik Treffen festival) and the upcoming tour in Latin America, we learned that Svein Terje had decided to jump the ship. The timing could not be worse, because it was way too late to replace him for the upcoming shows. I am not sure concerning the reasons – I hope for his own sake that they are valid. I love Svein Terje like a brother, but I must admit that this feels like being stabbed in the back. However, we will do the tour with Anders as the only guitarist. Not an ideal situation, but we will make it work."
Tristania went through another line-up change last year, replacing their previous female vocalist Vibeke Stene with Italian singer Mariangela Demurtas.
Unleashed, Gorefest & Gorgoroth To Play Inferno
Unleashed, Gorefest and Gorgoroth have been added to the Inferno Metal Festival set to take place in Oslo, Norway on March 19-22.
Gaahl of Gorgoroth will be speaking at the Inferno Music Conference. This is a tandem event with Inferno Festival during the daytime hours.
Other bands confirmed for the festival include Behemoth, Tristania, Cult of Luna, Satyricon, 1349, Overkill and Destruction.

Tristania Confirmed For Masters Of Rock Festival
Norwegian symphonic metal band TRISTANIA has scheduled the following dates:
Jul. 10-12 - Masters of Rock - Vizovice, Czech Republic
Mar. 08 - March Metal Day - Athens, Greece
TRISTANIA recently announced the addition of Italian singer Mariangela "Mary' Demurtas to the group's ranks.
Commented TRISTANIA in a statement: "[Demurtas possesses] a voice and talent that will not only complement the bands music, but give it an entirely new dimension. She is sure to usher in a new age of TRISTANIA.
"Mariangela Demurtas, aged 25, from the island of Sardinia, Italy, is the singer TRISTANIA was looking, but did not dare hope, for.
"The band was focusing on voice and talent when they went out looking for a new singer half a year ago. After a thorough search and many audtions, little did they know they would get all that, and more, in the form of Mary.
"She's all about music — and metal to the bone. She has performed with several Italian bands, before finally joining up with TRISTANIA. She lists her musical influences to include Janis Joplin, Diamanda Galas, Lisa DalBello, Lauryn Hill, Skin, Chris Cornell and Jeff Buckley.
"An educated linguist, she has already moved to Norway and settled in TRISTANIA 's home town of Stavanger. Although this is not her first time living abroad (she studied for a year in the Dominican Republic at the age of 16), it's living proof of the dedication she brings to TRISTANIA.
"Mary brings a whole new dimension to the old as well as the new TRISTANIA material. She is also a creative force, and the band will certainly find itself with yet another bright head when they work on new material.

Ex-Tristania Vocalist Denies Nightwish Rumors
Norwegian singer Vibeke Stene (ex-TRISTANIA) has shot down reports that she has joined NIGHTWISH as the replacement for Tarja Turunen.
Yesterday, Finland's biggest tabloid, Ilta-Sanomat, published the rumors that Stene accepted the job as new vocalist for the Finnish symphonic metal band.
However, according to Stene, "That is not true. I would not want to sing for NIGHTWISH," she told the Norwegian newspaper VG.
Stene believes that it might not be a coincidence that the rumors have surfaced around the time of the release of the new TRISTANIA album.
According to Vibeke, TRISTINIA's record label asked her a year ago if it was OK for them to put out the rumor that she was going to take over the singer slot in NIGHTWISH. This was in order to generate interest in TRISTANIA, which Stene quit three weeks ago "due to personal reasons."
However, "I said no," says Stene.
The only public information about the new vocalist that has come out of the NIGHTWISH camp so far has been offered by the group's manager, Ewo Pohjola (a.k.a. Ewo Rytkönen) of King Foo Entertainment. "She is getting along very well with the guys," he said. "She is very talented, clever and sweet."
Ex-Tristania Singer To Join Nightwish?
Norwegian singer, Vibeke Stene, who up till recently fronted Tristania, is hotly tipped as the new singer for Nightwish.
A journalist who revealed the rumored identity of NIGHTWISH's new singer in the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat, explained the decision to run the story to Norway's Dagbladet:
"The name Vibeke Stene first appeared a year ago, but so many vocalists have been mentioned that I didn't give it much thought," he said. "We decided to run the story after I talked to Frank Stroebele [manager for WITHIN TEMPTATION and ANASTACIA], who is one of Europe's biggest managers. He was pretty sure that this is true. I think Vibeke is a good choice. She knows the band since the time TRISTANIA and NIGHTWISH toured together."
This latest development raises eyebrows in the TRISTANIA camp.
"If that's the case, it's pretty surprising," says TRISTANIA's male vocalist Østen Bergøy.
When Vibeke - who, like the rest of TRISTANIA, hails from Norway - recently announced her departure from the band due to "personal reasons," there was no mention of her joining NIGHTWISH.
"No, she didn't say anything about it," claims Bergøy. "Now I'm as curious as you to find out..."
"If she gets the job and does it well, she will be one of the most high-profile singers in the metal scene," believes Asbjørn Slettemark, who hosts the Norwegian metal show "Pyro". "Kerrang! and Metal Hammer magazines will throw themselves over her, print huge posters and do everything in their power to make her an icon of the same caliber as Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE and Cristina Scabbia of LACUNA COIL."

Elusive To Release New Album In May
Elusive, the gothic rock project created by members of MORENDOES, TRISTANIA and THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, will release their third album this year. Between their debut and their second album almost four years passed. Well, their fanbase will be pleased that ELUSIVE's third - yet untitled- album will be released on May 11th of this year. Perfectly suiting to their performance at Wave Gotik Treffen 2007.
