Musicians Comment On Michelle Meldrum's Legacy

Meldrum is pleased to announce that the band's third album "Lifer" is officially out now via Reversed Records. "Lifer" was released as a proud tribute to the late Meldrum founding guitarist Michelle Meldrum. "Lifer" is available now on iTunes and CD Baby.

Michelle tirelessly spent her career touring the world and sharing the stage with the likes of Motorhead, Black Label Society, Sepultura, Danzig, and Nashville Pussy to name a few. During that time Michelle left a everlasting impact on the guitar world. To mark the release some of Michelle's closest friends Gene Hoglan (Testament, Death, Dark Angel, Dethklok) John Deservio (BLS, Cycle of Pain), James Lomenzo (BLS, Megadeth, White Lion), and Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys, Watch Tower, Broken Teeth) have commented on their fallen friend.

Gene Hoglan: "It was and still is an honor to know Michelle and it is indeed with great pride that we release 'Lifer.' I know she's watching over us and smiling along with us at this wonderful day. I know I'm a better person for knowing Michelle, and I know she feels all of our love for her, as we feel hers for us. Through tragedy may we find joy, and through 'Lifer' and all her other works, may Michelle find immortality. She'll always be immortal to us. Remember, this is meant to be cranked up." More...

Meldrum Releasing "Lifer" Album This Month

Multinational hard rock/metal band Meldrum is pleased to announce Tuesday November 20th, 2012 as the release date for third album 'Lifer." Founder and late ex-Phantom Blue guitarist Michelle Meldrum passed away at the age of 39 in May 2008. "Lifer" stands as a proud tribute to Michelle and her lifetime commitment to creating and performing music.

In honor of their fallen bandmate, remaining members drummer Gene Hoglan (Testament, Death, Dark Angel, Dethklok), guitarist/bassist Laura Christine (Warface), and vocalist Michelle Madden (Tourette's) entered the studio with producer/engineer/manager Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, GWAR, Zimmers Hole, West of Hell) to lay tracks for what would become 'Lifer."

Pre-sale's are available now at this location. The album will come as a digipak that includes an 8 page insert and CD. Fans who place their order between now and the November 20th release date will receive a free download of Meldrum's latest single 'Paid.". Partial proceeds from the album will go to Michell's son Jake Thomas who she left behind when she passed.

Gene Hoglan comments on the album: "Let me say this: Never have I obsessed over the recording of any album I've been involved in as I have with Meldrum's latest. The tragic circumstances that took Michelle from us also provided us with a raser-sharp focus to record the most amazing album we could. Michele Madden, Laura Christine, and hell, even Rob Shallcross, our engineer, put forth performances of a lifetime, with each member's full love and respect going into every nuance of every song. Not only to honor Michelle, but to also lay down some bad-ass music, which was ultimately what she stood for what Meldrum stands for. I think the songs speak for themselves, and I, for one, have never been prouder to be a part of a family, let alone a project such as this. Metal with balls. Crank it up, indeed." More...

Meldrum guitarist Laura Christine (Warface, Meldrum, Dreaming Dead) comments on working with the late Michelle Meldrum:

'For me, Michelle was a kindred spirit, a lifer, a life changer. She was so incredibly fun and easy to hang out with. This woman had the most brilliant sense of humor and was the living ideal of a true Bad Ass. When shit was not running smooth, she had such an incredible ability to make everything feel cool. Being in a band with Michelle brought me back to a place of fun and spontaneity in writing and music that I had not felt in a long time. This was huge for me. I didn't even know I was lacking in these areas until working with Michelle. Witnessing her sharp, fun, easy, flowing attitude in regard to music, lit a fire of creativity under my ass.

"I remember driving home after our first writing session feeling stunned and super excited. I had never had that much fun with a writing partner or in a writing session ever. As far as ideal bandmates go, Michelle set the bar the highest I've ever seen. It was one of my greatest honors to know Michelle, as well as work on, record and help complete this album in remembrance and in tribute to her, my hero." More...

Surviving Members Of Meldrum Completes New Album

Meldrum drummer Gene Hoglan has announced that Meldrum has completed work on their new studio album, which will be entitled, "Lifer." The album will serve as a tribute to band founder Michelle Meldrum who passed away earlier this year.

"Let me say this: Never have I obsessed over the recording of any album I've been involved in as I have with Meldrum's latest,” explains Hoglan. “The tragic circumstances that took Michelle from us, also provided us with a laser-sharp focus to record the most amazing album we could. Meldrum Vocalist Comments on Band Member's Death

Meldrum vocalist Michele Madden has issued the following statement on the passing of her bandmate Michelle Meldrum, who died on May 21 as a result of a cystic growth that had restricted oxygen and blood flow to her brain, rendering her braindead.

"My black heart is broken. It has taken me a while to get my head around all of this, but I wanted to thank all the fans of both Meldrum and Tourettes who have reached out to me over this horrible time. We are all so saddened, and I have been inundated with so much mail from those who were touched by Michelle that I have been unable to answer all of it. That’s why I wanted to get this out, to let the fans know that it is gratefully received and that it means so much to me right now..."

Madden and her Meldrum band mates are still pushing forward putting the finishing touches on the new album to release later in the year. They decided that they will continue recording and touring as a unit, keeping the project name to honor their fallen band mate.

"I am angry and shattered that this unexpected tragedy had to happen to such a wonderful woman, and I am gonna use that in the songs. I am about to go into the studio with producer Rob Shallcross in Vancouver to get all the ends tied up. Its going to be one of the hardest things I have ever done but not doing it would be even harder."

Drummer Gene Hoglan is currently on tour with Dethklok, but Madden claims that they will coordinate and be in constant contact while she is in the studio.

The Metal Community Pays Tribute To Meldrum Leader

Black Label Society lead singer/ guitarist Zakk Wylde has posted the following message regarding the recent death of Meldrum leader Michelle Meldrum:

"I cannot believe this. Michelle was like a sister to me and all of the Black Label camp. I remember the first show that Meldrum played with us. The whole band was so great, but Michelle was the guitarist, so we talked shop all the time. She was loving and you could always talk to her about any problems you have, so caring.

God has a guitar-ripping angel in his house now.

God bless you, Michelle. You will be missed and thought of every time I set foot onstage." More...

Meldrum Announces New Lineup, Enters The Studio

After teaming up to write, Michelle Meldrum and Gene Hoglan recently announced MELDRUM’s new member lineup before entering the studio to record tracks for their new album in Los Angeles, CA on April 29.

MELDRUM’s new lineup features: Australian metal vocalist Michele Madden (Tourettes), Laura Christine (Warface), Gene Hoglan (Death, Dark Angel, Strapping Young Lad) and Michelle Meldrum.

The new album, in which band members strive to transcend anything previously recorded, will follow up their last CD Blowin’ Up The Machine, which released last year on Frontiers/Locomotive.

According to Michelle Meldrum, “The new songs are slammin’, heavier and more exciting than ever. I am honored to work with Michele Madden, she is an amazing singer with an extremely heavy voice and a huge range. We are venturing into new territory sonically, and can’t wait to perform the new material live. Laura Christine is beyond awesome and definitely brings a heavy edge with her background experience from WARFACE, and…well, Gene is a drum god and his history speaks for itself. It’s a new era for the band and it feels great.”

Gene Hoglan added, “Both Michelle and I are super-excited to be working with the amazingly-talented and ultra-gorgeous Michelle Madden, and we welcome her with open arms into the MELDRUM family. We‘ve been writing a ton of new, ballcrushing, METAL-as-fuck songs in celebration of the leggy one’s arrival on our shores. I’ve had the utmost respect for the past five years, and always considered Madden to be, in every awesome and cool use of the term, a rock star. BIG respect, absolutely, and I can’t believe I actually get to play in a band with one of my all-time favorite vocalists. I’m real psyched, and no one in their right mind is gonna disagree with the fact that this band has just gotten WAAAY mightier with our new addition. Fuckin’ rights.”

MELDRUM plan to unveil sneak peaks from their studio sessions on their website in coming weeks, with news on the new release and tours forthcoming.

Meldrum Schedule Hollywood Date

MELDRUM, the Swedish/American band led by former PHANTOM BLUE guitarist Michelle Meldrum (wife of EUROPE axeman John Norum), has scheduled a headlining show at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California on January 17, 2008. The group will also appear at NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), which is being held January 17-20 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

MELDRUM recently unveiled its premiere North American release, "Blowin' Up the Machine", a brand new album of fierce, hard-rocking metal on Locomotive Records.

The multinational act — singer Moa Holmsten and bassist Frida Ståhl from Sweden, and American guitarist Michelle Meldrum — released its European debut, "Loaded Mental Canon", in 2002 but has good reason for the delay of its follow-up.

"What can you do when Zakk Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and MOTÖRHEAD take you under their wings and on extensive tours with them?' said Michelle. "You can't say no. We are so thankful to have worked with the people we have." More...
