Pennsylvania hardcore act Cold World has announced an upcoming string of tour dates in May and June, which can be found below. The band's publicist also commented:
"Cold World are a truly unique hardcore band from Wilkes-Barre, PA. After becoming one of the most talked about bands from their area, Cold World released the 'Ice Grillz' CD/7" EP on Lockin' Out Records in 2005. Touring worldwide in support of that release, Cold World cemented their reputation as one of the best bands in contemporary hardcore in only a years time.
"In late 2006, Cold World and Deathwish joined forces. Summer 2007 saw Cold World release their 'No Omega' CD/DVD, a collection of rare recordings through the 1917 label. In 2008, Cold World completed 'Dedicated To Babies Who Came Feet First,' on Deathwish Inc., which tells a chilling real life tale of struggle in the world as we know it today.
"From the opening bounce of 'Boom Bye Bye' it's apparent that Cold World's musical grit and power have risen to new levels to tell that story. This artistic progression is reinforced as the album unfolds. When the title track 'Dedicated...' explodes forth (featuring guest vocals by George of Blacklisted), it's clear that the band have crafted an unforgettable hardcore anthem. While standouts 'Roaches And Rats' and 'Whagwan (Featuring Warrior Queen)' combine a bleak lyrical commentary, hip-hop character, and hardcore intensity as only Cold World can. And with 'Do The Knowledge' and 'Time To Break Down' Cold World pay homage to longtime influences Life Of Agony andBiohazard, weaving together polished melodic vocal hooks and metal/crossover heaviness. The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will introduce an additional stage this year dedicated to up and coming bands.
The third stage, sponsored by Deathcote Records, will be located at Chasers Nightclub, located behind the Palladium on the corner of Martin Luther King and Commercial streets. The main festival will be taking place at the Palladium.
“There are so many great bands and not enough time to get all of them on during the course of two days,” said festival co-organizer Sott Lee. “Adding a third stage is a great way for us to showcase some of the developing bands and it’s a terrific opportunity for these bands to play alongside some of today’s top metal and hardcore bands.”
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with the Atticus pre-party on Thursday, April 16. This year’s event is presented by Randall Amplifiers, Washburn Guitars and Eden Electronics. Metal Blade Records will present the main stage. Prosthetic Records will present the second stage.
The Atticus-sponsored pre-party will be a unique event that will be combining film and music, kicking off with a screening of official film sponsor Anchor Bay's film "Crowley," co-written by none other than Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The provocative supernatural thriller is the tale of a virtual reality experiment gone wrong, sending the soul of the British occultist Aleister Crowley into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowley creates all-new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, he is now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world. Also showing is "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a sometimes revealing, sometimes hilarious documentary about the legendary Canadian metal band. The movie follows best friends Robb Reiner and Lips as they make a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. The film will be followed by a performance by the band itself. The pre-party will also be held at the Palladium. Admission is free with a weekend pass or $15 for non-ticket holders.
Prices this year are $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for a 2-day ticket that also includes free admission to the kick off party on Thursday. Tickets are available at all Strawberries, FYE Stores, online at tickets.com or by calling (800) 477-6849. Tickets are available now.

Pennsylvania hardcore band Cold World has issued the following update:
"In case you haven't noticed, Cold World does not have any shows booked at the time. Dan, our singer, is about to have a child and we will not be booking any shows or making any moves until the baby is born and all is well and settled in his new family. This does not mean that we are breaking up at all. We will be hitting up the road as much as our schedules permit once all things check out with Dan's baby. In other news, we will be recording a song soon for a split with our friends in Strength For A Reason. The record will be in very limited quantities and feature unreleased songs from each band. Haroun and Nick are gonna have something real interesting comin out pretty soon. I'm sure you'll all know when that one happens.
"We had to cancel a weekend in one of our favorite cities, Boston, in September. Our live drummer situation has been all fucked up lately since Nick got a new job that doesn't let him play out all that often. We will 100% be back up to make up that show before too long. We'll also be out west in 2009, and hopefully to a few other countries we haven't been too in quite awhile."
Deathwish/Malfunction Records has released a free collection of new and unreleased songs from some of their most anticipated releases of the year. Bands include: Killing The Dream, Blacklisted, Cold World, Reign Supreme, Narrows, Trap Them, Bitter End, The Carrier, Life Long Tragedy, Meltdown, Shipwreck a.d., and Pulling Teeth.
