Portland's Toxic Holocaust today offer up another sampling from impending "Chemistry Of Consciousness" full-length with "Out Of The Fire," now streaming below courtesy of MetalSucks.
The album was recorded by the band, mixed with Kurt Ballou (Converge) at GodCity Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.
Elaborates Toxic Holocaust mastermind Joel Grind, "With each record, I like to continue down the same path I've started at but do so without rehashing the same ideas over and over. With Chemistry Of Consciousness, I brought in a heavy dose of punk back into our sound. This record brings influence from bands ranging from Anti-Cimex, Warfare, Infernal Majesty, GBH, Discharge, Autopsy and Chaos UK, just to name a small few. Those bands are just a starting point to give you an idea of what's to come.
"First and foremost, it sounds like Toxic Holocaust, and that is always what's most important to me. Lyrically, I went off with topics I've never explored before. Lots of social and political commentary without trying to be preachy or blatant about it. There's no lyrics like 'the government sucks' or whatever but I was just really pissed off about what I see around me and that's what really fueled a lot of it. There is also a heavy dose of conspiracy and true life war crime topics. Lots of really sinister and evil stuff. Even the songs that seem like they're about one thing on the surface, after delving into them, are actually about something more. I'm anxious to get this record out there and to start touring again!" "Chemistry of Consciousness is the sound of Discharge on speed, Slayer with a punk rock chip on its shoulder, The Exploited on a Metallica overdose. It is the perfect marriage of punk angst and metal guitar hooks. If there's one thing the punks and the heshers will agree on in 2013, it's that Toxic Holocaust's Chemistry of Consciousness is a rager of a record destined to top any worthwhile best of 2013 list. Recommended for devout followers of Municipal Waste, DRI, Sodom, Midnight, GBH etc." More...
Portland’s punk metal combatants Toxic Holocaust recently completed the recording for a forthcoming new full-length.
Titled "Chemistry Of Consciousness," the 12-track beast of an offering was recorded by the band, mixed with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at his own GodCity Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.
Elaborates Toxic Holocaust founder Joel Grind: "I'm excited to announce that the new Toxic Holocaust record has been completed. We recorded it ourselves like we did last time but this time around we had our friend Kurt Ballou mix. It's sounding so crushing! Lots and lots of distortion! Musically I went into a more punky territory than the last record while still maintaining the Toxic Holocaust sound. I look forward to everyone hearing it!”
"Chemistry Of Consciousness" is set to deploy this Fall via Relapse Records. Further details – including cover art and track listing - are to be revealed in the coming weeks.
In honor of its release today, Revolver Magazine is hosting a stream of Toxic Holocaust’s "From The Ashes Of Nuclear Destruction" in its entirety. Check out the stream here or through the player below.
The monolithic 22-track anthology compiles over a decade’s worth of Toxic Holocaust rarities into one maniacal compilation of hostile bliss. Amassing the band’s many contributions to various comps and vinyl-only splits with the likes of Municipal Waste, Midnight and others, alongside demo versions of timeless Toxic classics, "From The Ashes Of Nuclear Destruction" is a historic romp through the history of one of today’s most revered punk metal deviants.
Toxic Holocaust is also currently in the studio working on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to the 2011 "Conjure And Command" full-length. More...
Portland’s punk/metal delinquents Toxic Holocaust recently unleashed a new lyric video for “Agony of the Damned.” Check it out below.
Initially featured on the band’s 2011 "Conjure and Command" full-length, “Agony Of The Damned” makes an updated appearance on the "From The Ashes Of Nuclear Destruction" compilation, set for release via Relapse Records next month.
Elaborates band mastermind Joel Grind: “This version of ‘Agony of the Damned’ was recorded in September of 2010 with a drum machine a few months before we stepped into the studio to record the one that appears on Conjure and Command. When making an album, I usually demo out the entire thing before I step into a studio. This keeps costs low and gives me time to sit with it to iron out the details. Since Conjure and Command was the first Toxic record to feature a full band, this demo served the purpose of familiarizing everyone with the new material and is previously unreleased.” More...
In addition the band's upcoming compilation release "From The Ashes of Nuclear Destruction," Toxic Holocaust has now checked in with the following brief update about writing a new album:
"Currently working hard writing the new Toxic record. I hope to get into the studio soon to record it. It's shaping up to be a fucking rager.
"What I've written so far has a pretty strong punk vibe going on. Continuing with the tradition of making every record different... but always sounding like Toxic Holocaust. More updates soon..."
Further details on the album will be announced as they are made available. The "From The Ashes Of Nuclear Destruction" compilation will see release through Relapse Records on April 2nd in North America, March 29th in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, and Benelux and April 1st in the UK.

The Dillinger Escape Plan also commented on the compilation:

He work very had to get our music out to all you guys and now is your chance to show your appreciation.
"Here is a link to a compilation featuring songs by us and a bunch of other bad ass Relapse artists. Gristle up your holiday caroling with “Cross Damnation," the first single from Joel Grind's "The Yellowgoat Sessions" offering. Recorded as a Toxic Holocaust return-to-form of sorts (think the "Critical Mass" demo), "The Yellowgoat Sessions" are raw, unrefined, reverbed out, distorted to hell and violently delicious.
Comments Joel Grind of the release: “I decided to not call this a Toxic Holocaust record for a few reasons. The main one being that Toxic has sort of morphed from being a solo project to now being a full band. That's not saying you won’t see other ‘solo’ Toxic material, but for right now it's definitely a solid band. Also, this record is definitely less thrash and more dirty rock ‘n’ roll. Finally, I didn't want to just slap the Toxic name on it to sell it. I recorded this because I was anxious to record something like this again without over thinking things.”
The track “Cross Damnation" is currently available as a free download with the optional suggested donation of $1.00 via Bandcamp here. The full album will be released digitally January 15th, 2013 with vinyl to follow in late February via Acid Rat Records. You can preview the album at YouTube here. More...
The song “Bitch” from punk metal derelicts Toxic Holocaust will be clawing its way through your speakers during next week’s episode of Sons of Anarchy (season 5 - episode 11). Comments Toxic Holocaust band leader Joel Grind:
“We are all excited to announce the inclusion of our song ‘Bitch’ in the upcoming episode of Sons of Anarchy. All of us are huge fans of the show and this season especially seems to be upping the ante with each episode.”
Tune in to FX on Tuesday, November 20th at 10:00pm EST/PST to check it out. Sons of Anarchy is based on the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club from a fictional town in California's Central Valley. The show centers on then-vice president Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), who begins questioning the club and himself. Sons of Anarchy premiered in the Fall of 2008 and has since become FX’s highest rated series ever.
“Bitch” comes off Toxic Holocaust’s "Conjure And Command" full-length, released via Relapse Records last year.
Saturday, June 2, 2012 offered a much different pace than the previous night. Where Friday night’s lineup played deliberate rhythms and struck chords that hung in the air like an ominous fog, Saturday’s day show at Beerland focused on speed. D-beats, blast beats, double picked chords partly characterized the crossover minded bands such as Midnight and Toxic Holocaust who packed a house of enthusiastic punks and metal heads.
Packing Beerland’s sloped construction did not take long. I arrived at the venue around opening time at 3:30 to find their small smoking area nearly full. I was not at the venue for long before their staff started turning away people. When someone left, someone entered. Once again, due to the staggering amount of attendees, the stuffiness of the club and humidity, I took numerous breaks from watching each band. More...
