Motley Crue Management Dismiss "False Rumours"
Tenth Street Entertainment — which represents MÖTLEY CRÜE — has shot down as (at least partially) "blatantly false and completely unfounded" Internet rumors that CRÜE will headline a festival-type tour called "Cruefest", with support from several other artists from the Tenth Street management stable, including BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, SIXX: A.M. and DROWNING POOL. According to Tenth Street, CRÜE's April 15 press conference/announcement in Los Angeles will relate to "a few" (but presumably not all) of the following artists:
MÖTLEY CRÜE
ATREYU
SAVING ABEL
SHINEDOWN
CHEVELLE
APOCALYPTICA
THE EXIES
PUDDLE OF MUDD
STAIND
GODSMACK
DROWNING POOL
THEORY OF DEADMAN
THREE DAYS GRACE
AVENGED SEVENFOLD
SIXX: A.M.
TRAPT
SEETHER
FLYLEAF
BUCKCHERRY
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE
RED
BELLE & SEBASTIAN
PETE YORN
THE WALLFLOWERS
3 DOORS DOWN
All four members of CRÜE will be present at the April 15 press conference at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as "by far...one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!" The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official CRÜE site.
Motley Crue To Tour With Drowning Pool And More?
MÖTLEY CRÜE is rumored to be teaming up with several other acts from the Tenth Street Entertainment management stable — BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH and DROWNING POOL — for a U.S. tour that will kick off in early July. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the trek will go out under the moniker Cruefest — which is not to be confused with the association that organizes concerts at various locations around the world throughout the year to raise money for the various CRÜE-affiliated charities (including Skylar Neil Memorial Fund, Nikki Sixx's Running Wild in the Night foundation, Tommy Lee's charity of choice St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Mick Mars' charity Spondylitis Association of America).
CRÜE will officially announce its touring plans on April 15 in Los Angeles, according to a press release. All four members of the group will be present at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as "by far...one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!" The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official CRÜE site.
The band is currently working on its ninth studio album and first featuring all four original members since 1997's "Generation Swine". Bassist Nikki Sixx said in an online posting, "Tommy's (Lee, drums) kickin' ass, Vince (Neil, vocals) sounds insane and (Mick) Mars is shredding on guitars. It doesn't feel like one song is better or worse than any other. It feels so good to be excited about something you've worked on so hard...I'm so excited for you all to hear it."
The album, titled "The Dirt" after the group's memoir of the same name, is tentatively due out on July 8.

Deicide, Dope, RATM Music Used To Torture Iraqis
According to a news article on Mother Jones, music by bands including Deicide (who's song "Fuck Your God" is declared the most used), Dope, Drowning Pool, Metallica, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Hedpe and others has been used in American military prisons and on bases as torture devices. The songs are said to induce sleep deprivation, "prolong capture shock," disorient detainees during interrogations, and are apparently handy for drowning out screams. Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs that guards and interrogators reportedly chose: More...

Drowning Pool Singer Posts Video Message
Texas metal band DROWNING POOL has posted a brand new video message from singer Ryan McCombs. Watch it below.
DROWNING POOL lost its first singer, Dave Williams, to heart disease in 2002, and parted with a second vocalist and a record label while attempting its first comeback two years later.
More recently, bassist Stevie Benton was diagnosed in December with a neurological disorder called Bell's Palsy, which causes paralysis of the face and occasional sensitivity to sound. The group had to cancel the rest of its immediate tour dates so that Benton could recover.

Drowning Pool Singer Featured On D.E.M. Demos
Long-defunct Indiana band D.E.M. (DEUS EX MACHINA), which existed between the years 1994 and 1997, has posted some of its early demo recordings featuring former SOIL and current DROWNING POOL vocalist Ryan McCombs. Check them out at this location.
After the members of SOIL heard Ryan with D.E.M. on a compilation disc from California called "Rock 'n Roll Myths" (released by Wild Rags Records), they sought him out in Indiana and asked him to join the group.

Drowning Pool Reveal Tour Announcement
The following has been posted by Drowning Pool via their official Myspace
"Hey Everyone-
It’s official - we will hit the ground running in 2008, co-billed with fellow southern rockers Saliva for a string of dates kicking off in Melbourne, FL on January 29th. Stevie is particularly excited to be playing these shows. His unpleasant symptoms have passed and he’s feeling great. The break did him well and we’re really eager to get back out there and play these shows with Saliva. We can’t wait to see the fans and thank them for sticking with us. The best way to do that is give them a kick ass rock show!"
Below are confirmed dates for the tour (the tour will continue into April, so there’s more to follow):

Drowning Pool Bassist Speaks On Stolen Gear
The Pulse of Radio reports: DROWNING POOL was hit with a run of bad luck in the last month and a half, with bassist Stevie Benton stricken with a case of Bell's Palsy onstage and the band's gear getting ripped off not once, but twice. In addition to speakers, drums and other equipment, Benton himself lost four customized Lakeland basses that were his favorites. He told The Pulse of Radio he desperately wants them back. "It's not just the fact of having to go buy new gear," he said. "It's just that, you know, these basses were perfect for me, exactly the way I wanted them and, you know, sentimental value and all that kind of stuff, you know. I'm putting off going and buying anything else, just in the hopes that I can recover them 'cause, you know, I just want them back. No questions asked, no money issue, nothing, you know. I just want those four basses."
Benton was stricken with Bell's Palsy, a nerve disorder which causes partial paralysis of the face, while playing a show in December. Doctors ordered him off the road for six weeks.
DROWNING POOL's rehearsal space was robbed the day before Thanksgiving and then again right before Christmas. The band is asking anyone with information about the stolen gear to contact the Dallas police department or send an email through the band's MySpace page.
DROWNING POOL are no strangers to bad luck, losing original singer Dave Williams to heart disease in 2002.
The band will head out on the road with SALIVA for eight weeks, beginning on February 1 in Atlanta, as it continues promoting its latest album, "Full Circle".
Drowning Pool's Equipment Stolen Again
Jay Gormley of CBS 11 News reports: Music equipment is everything to a rock band. But one Dallas band has felt the sting of having its equipment stolen not once, but twice in one month.
"We always joke that DROWNING POOL has a black cloud that follows us," said Mike Luce, the band's drummer.
The holidays have been anything but happy for the alternative-metal band. On the day before Thanksgiving, cameras caught thieves stealing the band's amplifiers and other valuable sound equipment.
"I think someone has a target aimed right at us. We're in the crosshairs," said bassist Stevie Benton. More...

Drowning Pool Bassist Rushed To Hospital
Drowning Pool bassist Stevie Benton was rushed to the hospital early this morning, December 6, 2007, suffering from paralysis. Benton began to feel ill during last night’s performance at Stone’s Throw in Eau Claire, WI, and after the show was rushed to the Luther Midelfort Hospital where Christian F. Peterson MD, ED Physician diagnosed him with a neurological disorder called Bell’s Palsy which causes paralysis of the face and sometimes sensitivity to sound.
George Clooney, Pierce Brosnan and Ralph Nader have also been afflicted with this illness. In most cases the disease is temporary and, with proper rest, resolves on its own. Consequently, doctors have ordered Benton off the road for a minimum of six weeks.
“I’m really bummed that because of this, we can’t perform this last string of shows,” says Benton, “I want to thank the fans for their continued support and believe me when I say we can’t wait to come back and rock out with you all again soon.”
As a result, the following remaining dates on Drowning Pool’s This Is For The Soldiers Tour, which has been donating money to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and the USO, have been cancelled.
12.06.07 Green Bay, WI The Woods
12.07.07 Peoria, IL Exposition Gardens Youth Center

Drowning Pool Slam Bill O'Reilly
Texas hard rock band DROWNING POOL has taken exception to recent on-air remarks by Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly that he and is one of only two "celebrities" to support the troops via the USO. The group said in a press release, "This is simply (and sadly, typically) absolutely false. A number of musical artists, actors and comedians have done troop tours via the USO, including DROWNING POOL, who have visited the troops and performed for them on three separate occasions. Additionally, the band have donated a portion of all of their U.S. tour revenues to the USO and to other causes that support the troops."
In response to the "false" allegations by Bill O'Reilly, DROWNING POOL has created a two-minute video message, which can be viewed below. More...
Drowning Pool Frontman Speaks On Robbery
DROWNING POOL frontman Ryan McCombs has issued the following update:
"It's Thanksgiving. Kick-ass. That means spending time with family, watching football, eating till your belly button pops, napping and eating some more. It also means going a little crazy.
"It's always a bit hard during the holidays for me to keep my head on decent. It's so easy to get caught up in the routine that is touring that sometimes it is harder than you would think to change gears and be home for a bit.
"While you're out there hitting city after city you get into that mode, that mindset. The whole time I'm doing it, I'm missing my kids and all but as soon as I'm away from the routine I start going stir-crazy. Shouldn't I be getting ready for soundcheck. Who are all these kids running around (nephews)?? What time is doors? No I don't wanna watch cartoons. How many bands are playing tonight? Who did what with my whatever??? What time do we go on?? Who ate my turkey leg?? How many bottles of liquor do we have left??? Next thing you know you are where you wanted to be for the holidays but your patience is shot and you are pretty sure you could skin your Irish Terriers and make rugs out of them even though you have been missing them for months.
"The mind is a funny thing. Not funny 'hah,' funny like 'could you cut that funny shit out for a goddamn second????'
"This Thanksgiving is special, though this one started out with a couple fucknuts breaking into the DROWNING POOL rehearsal spot in Dallas and stealing a bunch of our shit. The day before Thanksgiving. AWESOME!!! I think being a thief is the closest thing to the cowards that key cars. What's the mentallity there??? 'I DON'T HAVE THAT BUT I WANT IT, FUCK IT... I'LL TAKE YOURS!!' You know what?? Die, you worthless pile of flesh. Get a fucking job, save up and buy your own. Like the person did that you're stealing from. It's really damn close to that fuckface that has a problem with you, so instead of being a human being about it and facing you straight up, they take a rock or key to your vehicle.
"This Thanksgiving theft reminds me of the wise words of Mr. Stevie Benton, 'People suck, they're the worst.' It seems like every day the population of bottom-feeding, ME-FIRST cocksuckers in this world slowly outnumber the people that should keep breathing.
"TO HELL WITH IT!!! I'm gonna go watch some football with my boys, sneak turkey under the table to my Irish bitches, and try not to break something over someone's head. Then tomorrow I'm gonna drive eight hours to the in-laws because, screw it, I ain't been traveling enough...lol
"Every day I realize just how lucky I am in so many areas of life, but every once in a while you realize the mind's ability to make a cavity out of candy.
"Happy Thanksgiving to all, except for thieves and worthless shitballs..." More...
Drowning Pool Gear Stolen From Rehearsal Room
Jay Gormley of the North Texas CBS affiliate KTVT-TV reports: It was supposed to be a Thanksgiving homecoming for a popular Dallas band. Instead, thieves have left the members of DROWNING POOL a little less thankful.
Having survived the death of lead singer Dave Williams five years ago, DROWNING POOL has overcome its share of obstacles.
Now the Dallas-based alternative-metal band will have to overcome yet another challenge.
"It's not the way I wanted to kick off my holiday, that's for sure," said DROWNING POOL bassist Stevie Benton.
DROWNING POOL had just returned home after months of touring. The band arrived in Dallas Wednesday morning. That's when they discovered that much of their equipment had been stolen. More...
Drowning Pool Frontman Checks In
DROWNING POOL frontman Ryan McCombs has posted the following message on the group's MySpace page:
"You know, I'm pretty sure I should have something to blog but I just don't...
"I could blog about what I've done the past couple of days, but who really gives a flying fuck snake about doing laundry or riding on a bus so long that your brain goes goddamn numb.
"OHHHH, yes, the glorious life of a touring musician.
"Yesterday while traveling from PA to FL we stoped after a billion hours on the road, ate, watched more TV, drank and went back to bed. The biggest concern I have right now is if I used enough fabric softener sheets in the dryer, or maybe I used too many. I just don't know.
"I can tell you this much for sure: the first season of 'Dexter' is worth picking up. Ayelet (merch girl) and I got hooked on it quickly. A series about a serial killer,... society is fucked up.
"I mean, other than David (guitar tech) randomly showing his ass there really isn't much that goes down while traveling. And to be fair for that to be anything special he needs to change gender and become a lot less hairy. I've been thinking about taking up heroin to pass the time but I'm just too much of a puss when it comes to needles.
"I reckon the only point I can make here is when you hear a band person talk about how that time on stage makes everything worthwhile, you can really beleave they are being honest. The other night in Erie PA the crowd was so bad-ass, it's probably the only thing that carries us through this two-day off travel time.
"So here's a thought for you: Next time you're at a show and you're just standing there with your thumb cramed up your ass, cut loose and have a good time. You just might be the only thing between a tour continuing on and a musician offing himself in a dirty, smelly sick-ass shitter on a tour bus."
Invitro Line Up Dates With Drowning Pool and Otep
INVITRO, the Los Angeles aluminum foil clad five-piece that has been tearing up stages on tours with STATIC-X, SEVENDUST, HELLYEAH and the Family Values Tour; has been confirmed as direct support for DROWNING POOL. The band has also announced some dates in support of OTEP.
INVITRO recently released their debut album “When I Was A Planet” through Gridiron Records, a label formed by INVITRO guitarist Mikey Doling and Kansas City Chiefs‘ Offensive tackle Kyle Turley. Since the album’s release, Revolver Magazine stated, “Beneath the humor are some of the most intricate riffs and sharpest melodies you’ll hear this year. Come to Planet for the mirth; stay for the music,” while Metal Edge Magazine proclaimed “the musicianship and originality are incredible. These aluminum foil luchadors are on a whole other level.” More...
