Cataract Going On Hiatus

Swiss act Cataract will be going on a hiatus in 2012. The band issued the following statement about the decision and upcoming activity:

"In the dark corners of Zurich, rumour is rife that Cataract will be playing their last show this December, last show? Ever? I mean, ever ever? Of course not. The Swiss powerhouse of metal, loud, hard and merciless, doesn't even think about turning around and moving on to a normal life. There's too much truth to be said, too many stages that need to be rocked and too many pits that need to mosh! The grain of truth in this rumour is that Catarct will go into an extended hibernation, as lead singer Fedi is leaving for a long planned and desired world trip for the whole of 2012.

"Plans not only include the rest of the boys kicking back and enjoying some time off themselves, but also writing new tracks to be recorded and released as soon as Fedi has returned in early 2013. The metal machinery will be working again and steamroll all over Europe!"

"However, before the activities are frozen and the guitars given some much owed time to rest, Cataract are honoured to play their final show for 2011/2012 at the legendary Abart club, which is due to close its doors next year. They will be supported by Lucerne's Silent Slander and Zurich's Beyond The Vortex, along with some other guests. And if you know the band, there will also be a bunch of surprises for everyone to enjoy – for example free admission to Abart's Maximum Kick Party on the same night! So, get up, dress up and show up for a night of good times!"

Cataract Issues Studio Update

Swiss thrash metal band CATARACT has entered the Antfarm studios in Denmark to record their new album for Metal Blade Records. Check out a studio update from the band below:

"Fellow Cataractians, after sorting out the internet troubles we're finally able to report on our fourth visit to the brand spanking new Antfarm Studios! We're gonna keep the blah blah low and give you the raw and ugly truth of being a rockstar and having to bring something new into your music so the reviews will be raving."

"Day 0, Sunday. Drove up to danmark, whew. 12hours of germans slowing down whenever a truck, bend or raincloud approaches. Entered danmark, got fingered by the cops, just shortly though as we didn't shower in the morning. Best thing about the drive – speed limit in danmark is now 130 on the motorways! Collected keys to our little home for the next two weeks, we rented a small house on the beach of danmark, about 20mins away from the studio. Turns out it's a 4* holyday home with all possible extras (minus a working internet connection), so we're really stoked and ready to go!" More...

Cataract Introduce New Bassist

Metal Blade Records has issued the following update from CATARACT:

"Allright Cataractians, it's done, we're a five piece again!

As of today Nico Schläpfer from END OF SUFFERING and TIMOR has joined us as our new bass player! We are confident that he will add a lot of new spirit and blood to the band – not just because he's a tiny bit younger than the rest of us, haha!

Of course we want to thank all the guys who also were ready to ruin their lives, we had to pick between four guys and this decision was quite hard to make. We will give you more information about our new member as soon as possible
and we're excited to present him on stage very soon!

Next we'd like to announce our record release and 10th Anniversary show which is scheduled for the 20th of March 2008. It'll take place at Rohstofflager Zürich, we will have a couple of supporting acts and we will take care of a good sound as well. Tickets are available through pitfire.net and directly through us, we'll let you know when.

We've got some other things planned for the release of our fifth full length and we will announce everything in time.

We also have some new merch on the way, we should receive it by the middle of February. We are currently selling out some of our older designs and have lowered the prices, there's just a few (thats one or two) left of those items so check the webstore on our homepage!

We will play an exclusive "show" on the 29th of January appearing at Karaoke From Hell (hosted by Martin Ain from CELTIC FROST) at the Mascotte club in Zürich. It's not really a show since we're only allowed to play one cover song and that's it, but it sure as hell will be a lot of fun! About seven other bands will also appear making complete twats out of themselves to win a trophy!”

Cataract Announces New Guitarist

Here's what the band had to say about their new addition:

"Yes it's true; we are back to a five piece! And we're glad we can stop the guessing and rumoring by officially welcoming Tom Kuzmic whom you might know from death metal monsters Disparaged to the mighty realm of Castle Cataract! We also thank all the people who wanted to ruin their lives by joining us on our trip to hell or volunteered to jump in case we couldn't find someone - you guys fucking rock! We are confident this is the best that could have happened as Tom has more than 100% of what we were looking for! We already started rehearsing with the new line up and things are looking great for the shows we wisely didn't cancel haha! So once again to end all discussion - we will play shows, starting March 31st! We will keep you posted on the progression."

Cataract Part Ways With Guitarist

Swiss metalcore band CATARACT has parted ways with guitarist Simon Fullemann. "We've had several discussions between different members about our future concerning music, shape, form and structure of CATARACT and, of course, the year lying ahead," the group writes in a statement. "And, after a final meeting this Friday, we agreed to disagree — our founding member Simon decided to part ways with CATARACT to pursue his own projects, which you will run across sooner or later.

"We had nine incredible years and all of us will remember the times we had. We are parting in peace as we all agreed that this is the best way for both sides.

"We have decided to take a break until we worked out all the band business and we'll use the time to evaluate Simon's successor. Unfortunately we had to cancel the show in Aarau but we will make up for it as soon as we're a five piece again. All other shows (we will add them soon) are still hot and will happen. Of course, we're looking for a new guitarist now. If you already think you have got 'it,' then contact us at info@cataract.cc." More...

God Forbid Announce Tour and Plans for 2007

God Forbid have announce that they will be doing a short tour with A Life Once Lost at the end of this month. The tour will include a performance at the Saints and Sinners Festival taking place in Asbury Park, NJ. God Forbid guitarist, Doc Coyle, has posted the following update from the road:

“We are very happy to be home from a great European run. Heaven Shall Burn, Maroon, Cataract, Purified in Blood, A Perfect Murder and Narziss were all great people and excellent bands. Some of my personal highlights on the tour were the last show in Essen (the biggest show and the crowd was rowdy as fuck), Denmark (where we were fortunate enough to play with the legendary Entombed) and Austria (where fuckers just lost their minds).”

“There were plans in place for a U.S. headlining tour to close out the year, but it’s been rescheduled for Jan.- Feb. We want to do at least one more U.S. run before we start working on another album. What better way to come back than to play a long set with the biggest, most elaborate show that God Forbid has ever has done! We should have a concrete announcement in the coming weeks. There hasn't been an American tour since June, so we are raring to go. Speaking of shows, in addition to the Saints and Sinners Festival we have two shows with our good friends in A Life Once Lost and Diecast that same weekend. These will probably be our last shows of the year, so be sure to make it out.”

Confirmed dates with A Life Once Lost are as follows:

October 26 - Poughkeepsie, NY @ The Chance
October 27 - Orono, ME @ Ushuaia
October 29 - Asbury Park, NJ @ Convention Hall

Cataract Completes Work On New Album

Cataract have completed recording of their new album and mixing will begin shortly. Here's the update from the band:

"It's done, carved in stone, nailed to the cross and cemented. It's time to say goodbye to Tue and the Antfarm for almost all of us. We're driving straight back to Switzerland Sunday morning, leaving Fedi behind. We finished all overdubs and intros today, Tue will start mixing and Fedi will do the remaining vocal tracks until Thursday and then the big wait will start. Once again we're leaving with an extremely good feeling and we're also very anxious about the final mix of our work. It's been 12 days from the first hit till the last chord so far, and we strongly believe that this will be our best recording! Well we all have to wait now - you people a bit longer though. It'll be worth it.

If you should be driving your car around in Germany and it's somewhere between Flensburg, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Singen - get the fuck out of the way. love cataract"
