Max And Igor Cavelera On Stage Together Again
SOULFLY's official web site was updated with the following message:
"The 10th annual D-Low Memorial show is over and we thank you all for making it a huge success. The show, which was opened by NORTH SIDE KINGS and INCITE, sold out and it was a very historic night for SOULFLY. The band was joined on stage by many friends from their past including Danny Marianinho of NORTH SIDE KINGS (on 'Defeat U'), Richie Cavalera of INCITE (on 'Bleed' and 'Stay Strong'), [former MEGADETH bassist] Dave Ellefson (on 'Prophecy' and 'Defeat U'), and their former longtime drummer Roy Mayorga (on 'No Hope = No Fear') who currently plays with STONE SOUR. But most importantly, Max was reunited onstage for the first time in 10 years with his brother Igor Cavalera. Max and Igor formed SEPULTURA together in the early 1980s, but have not played together since the band split in 1996. Igor joined the band mid-way through the set for a jam on the drums and stayed onstage to play the SEPULTURA classics 'Roots Bloody Roots' and 'Attitude' with the guys!"
SOULFLY bassist Bobby Burns previously told BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "The show was fuckin' insane! Roy Mayorga came out and did 'No Hope = No Fear' with us. Dave Ellefson did 'Prophecy' and 'Defeat U'. And the one and only Igor Cavalera came out and did 'Attitude' and 'Roots' with us!!! It was far beyond badass, trust me... Best D-Low show yet..."
Also, SOULFLY have been confirmed as the direct support for MEGADETH on the upcoming Australian leg of the Gigantour. ARCH ENEMY and CALIBAN will also be playing before SOULFLY, and tickets go on sale on Tuesday (August 22) at 9:00 a.m." The dates for the shows are:
Oct. 21 - Brisbane, Australia - The Riverstage
Oct. 22 - Sydney, Australia - Hordern Pavilion
Oct. 24 - Melbourne, Australia - Festival Hall

Cavalera Excited About Possible Sepultura Reunoin
SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera recently spoke to Holland's Toazted.com about the possibility of a reunion with his former SEPULTURA bandmates at some point in the not-too-distant future. Asked about the rumor that a reunited SEPULTURA was in talks several months ago to play this year's Ozzfest, Max said, "There's been a lot of rumors. SEPULTURA is one of the most rumored things out there. [Laughs] I talked to my brother [ex-SEPULTURA drummer Igor Cavalera] recently. He has a new son named Antonio, which is my middle name. He says he looks a lot like me. I've only seen a picture. I plan to visit him sometime next year. We're in a very good relationship, which is great, after all this bullshit. Ten years… Life is too short to hold [grudges]. So I think in a weird way, God has a way to manage these things and he's putting it all together now. With or without the reunion — I don't really care — it's important that we're brothers… blood, family… it's a great thing. But to tell you the truth, it would be cool to have a reunion. Even my kids wanna see it. My [stepson] Richie is like, 'Oh, my God, I've gotta… I know I saw SEPULTURA, but I was too little, I don't remember.' And SEPULTURA has touched so many people. So it would be really, really cool."
With regards to how a SEPULTURA reunion might affect SOULFLY, Max said, "I think SOULFY [and SEPULTURA] are completely different things. SOULFLY has its own identity and its own vibe. And it will not conflict with SEPULTURA, I don't think — it's two completely different things. And touring with BLACK SABBATH last year — I was really inspired. It was so good to see… Those guys, they hated each other for a long period, and you see that they make up and they go on tour, and they… I don't know. You can really see that Ozzy loves BLACK SABBATH. It's in his blood. He loves [the band]. How can you not? It was inspiring for me. So I think I understand more now why people want to see [a] SEPULTURA [reunion]. It makes more sense now than it did… When we first split up, I was like, 'No, I'm never doing that shit again. Screw this, I hate this shit,' but I think different now. It's working itself [out]. When it happens, it'll happen, and it'll be good."

Headline News
Drummer Igor Cavalera Quits Sepultura
Drummer Igor Cavalera has officially announced his departure from SEPULTURA.
In a statement released on June 12 to the Brazilian media, Igor attributed the split to "artistic incompatibility" with his SEPULTURA bandmates — guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. and vocalist Derrick Green.
"I believe my mission in SEPULTURA has come to an end," Igor said in the statement. "I am very proud of everything we have done, but I feel that the group's current formation no longer lives up to my expectations as a musician and a person. Since my last tour with SEPULTURA, which took place in Europe in December 2004, I have sensed that my ideas were not compatible with those of the rest of the band."
Igor, who hasn't toured with SEPULTURA since 2005, noticed that his personal ambitions were worlds apart from those of the other members of the group and he felt slightly detached from the creative process of SEPULTURA. More...
Max Cavalera Slams "Fake" Sepultura
Ex-SEPULTURA/current SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera has slammed the current touring version of his former band as "fake" and has reiterated his desire to one day take part in a reunion of the group's classic lineup. When asked during a Sirius Satellite Radio interview last month if there have been talks between him and the guys in SEPULTURA about getting back together one day, Max said, "There's been a lot of talk — rumor and stuff. I don't know… What I know is that Igor [Cavalera, Max's brother and current SEPULTURA drummer] is not on tour [with SEPULTURA] right now [Editor's Note: Igor announced earlier in the year that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son], and to me that's not SEPULTURA, man. I don't give a shit — that is not. We made the band, we created the band; it started with me and him. Andreas [Kisser, SEPULTURA guitarist] came way, way later in the picture. Paulo [Xisto Pinto Junior, SEPULTURA bassist], he got in the band 'cause he had a bass — his Dad bought a bass, [but Paulo] couldn't play. And I'm not trying to diss anybody, I'm just saying the facts — that me and Igor invented, created and carried… the Cavalera brothers carried SEPULTURA; we created it. So if it [the reunion] ever happens, it's gonna be [done] the right way for the right reason.
"I kind of compare it to parachuting — I never parachuted before, I wanna parachute one day. It's like the SEPULTURA reunion. It's like parachuting. I'm not doing it tomorrow, but I'd like to do it eventually, sometime. 'Cause I know what it did to people; it changed a lot of people's lives. My kids wanna see it. Richie's [Max's stepson] like, 'I wanna see SEPULTURA.' Zyon and Igor [Max's youngest son] are like, 'I wanna see SEPULTURA with Max — the real SEPULTURA, not the fake SEPULTURA.
"When the time comes and it happens, it will be for the right reason — I believe in all that kind of crazy shit. So it's gonna be done at the right time. I am right now where I am supposed to be, doing what I am supposed to be, and when that happens, it will be the right time."
Watch Nailbomb's "Wasting Away" Music Video Online
A rare NAILBOMB music video for the track "Wasting Away" has been posted online on Roadrunner's site.
NAILBOMB was the short-lived side project of then-SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera and FUDGE TUNNEL's Alex Newport, formed between the recording of SEPULTURA's "Chaos A.D." and "Roots" albums. This video includes extremely rare footage that was nearly burnt in a fire that nearly killed Max Cavalera's family friend.
Max Cavalera's current main band, SOULFLY, are continuing to tour in support of their latest album, "Dark Ages", available now on Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Prophecy" was produced by Max and was mixed by Terry Date, who has previously worked with PANTERA and DEFTONES, among others.

Andreas: "Not The Right Time" For Ruinion w/ Max
Sepultura's Kisser: "It's Not The Right Time" For Reunion With Max Cavalera
Finland's HardcoreSounds recently conducted an interview with SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
HardcoreSounds: [Members of the music] media have been asking the question [if] will SEPULTURA reunite with Max Cavalera for this year's Ozzfest? Is this just a rumor or have you discussed with the idea with Max?
Andreas: "It's a rumor, like many others. Since he left the band we have been hearing different rumors and stuff. It's not gonna happen at all. I mean, we have a new album and we are promoting it. I know Max has [taking in] interviews [that he is open] to [the possibility of a reunion]. But it's not the right time for us. But in the near future it would be great just to play with each other again. Who knows?! Next year or 2008, I don't know. I think it would be cool for us and for people who have expectations. Especially for people who haven't seen SEPULTURA with Max, it would be cool but it really is something we don't think about now. Maybe in the future."
HardcoreSounds: What´s the situation with Igor Cavalera? When will he rejoin the band?
Andreas: "I don't know. It will take some time for him to rebuild his personal life. He just separated from his wife and he has a new wife, a new kid, so his life is a little crazy at the moment. We don't wanna force him into any situations because he needs time to take care of himself. But at the same time we can't stop. We have the album and we have to promote it. We are very lucky to have Roy [Mayorga] with us which is a drummer that knows SEPULTURA really well. He played with Max before and we have known him for many years. So far he has been great!"
HardcoreSounds: What are your future plans after finishing the tour with IN FLAMES? Have you booked any summer festivals?
Andreas: "We are working on it now. We don't have any specific dates yet but the plan is to play some festivals. To see some games in the [soccer] World Cup in Germany. Try to do the same as we did in 1994 when we were touring with PANTERA and we saw some games of the World Cup. Brazilians were winning. That's the plan and hopefully in August/September we will be touring through U.S. And try to play in as many places as we can with this album."

Stone Sour Studio Update, Photos Available
STONE SOUR, the band featuring SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root, are still hard at work on their sophomore album with producer Nick Rasculinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, VELVET REVOLVER). The drum tracks by session drummer Roy Mayorga (ex-SOULFLY, currently a touring member of SEPULTURA) are complete, according to the most recent studio report submitted by guitarist Josh Rand. "Jim and myself just finished up guitar tracks for the song 'Your God' today, so that makes 8 out of 17 rhythm guitar tracks done," Rand said. "[Bassist] Shawn has also started tracking this week and Corey plans on singing tonight."
You can check out photos from the studio at this location.
STONE SOUR drummer Joel Ekman was forced to sit out the recording sessions for the group's new album in order to spend time with his nine-year-old son, who was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma (brain cancer) last fall.
STONE SOUR's new album will follow up the group's 2002 self-titled debut, which went gold and featured the hit single, "Bother".
Max Cavalera On Ozzfest Rumors
In a new interview with www.htnet.hr, Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera was asked about doing this years "Ozzfest" with Sepultura", an excerpt from the interview is as follows:
"I have to ask you about those rumors saying that you might be playing Ozzfest with Sepultura... Is there any truth in that?
Max Cavalera: Yeah, you know, there's a rumor. And... from my part, my attitude is the same ? I'll do it if it's the right way and the right reason.
And what could that reason be?
Max Cavalera: The Fans. They are the only ones who deserve that reunion ? not me, not Sepultura, just them. Because they made Sepultura an icon, a cult band around the world. So I would do it for them, if they want it hard enough, not for the money and not for any other reason."
Ex-Soulfly Drummer To Play On New Stone Sour Album
STONE SOUR, the band featuring SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root, are hard at work on their sophomore album with producer Nick Rasculinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, VELVET REVOLVER). Guitarist Josh Rand has filed the following candid report from inside the studio:
"As we roll into week four of the recording process for the new album, a lot has happened...
"Starting off with a week of pre-production as [our producer] Nick pushed us to the brink and back, we fine-tuned the songs for the record. Now with eighteen tracks slated to be recorded we were ready to begin the drum tracks.
"[However,] two weeks into the recording of the drums Joel [Ekman] would have to leave the project and return home to his family. His nine-year-old son is very sick. He was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma (brain cancer) last fall. With the fate of the record now up in the air a decision had to be made: postpone the record or bring in someone to finish the drum tracks. So with Joel's blessing, Roy Mayorga [ex-SOULFLY, current SEPULTURA touring drummer] will finish the drum tracks as we move forward.
"On behalf of myself and the rest of STONE SOUR our prayers go out to the Ekmans."
STONE SOUR's new album will follow up the group's 2002 self-titled debut, which went gold and featured the hit single, "Bother".
