Axamenta Breaks Up, Forming New Band

Belgian dark metal act Axamenta has issued the following statement about calling it a day:

"This would be a perfect opportunity to attempt an eloquent effort, which could sound something along the lines of: In the bleak wintersun of 2009 the shroud falls over the vague and dark contours of what once was Axamenta

"But as above pompous jabbering usually makes us cringe, let us stick to the cold scientific facts:

"AXAMENTA minus 1 SINGER minus BLACK METAL = NEW BAND + 2 NEW BANDMEMBERS + INTERESTING NEW STYLE + BOOZE + POWERTOOLS

"If BLACK METAL = NO BLING Then AXAMENTA = NEW BAND + BLING => NEW BAND = SOLID GOLDEN RIMS FOR OUR HUMMERZ => AXAMENTA = RIP

"An update with more information about the new band itself, the band name, logo, line-up, teaser and website are due Mid February."

Axamenta Part Ways With Singer

Belgium's AXAMENTA, the former band of current EPICA bassist Yves Huts, has parted ways with longtime singer Peter Meynckens.

Commented Peter in a statement: "After more than nine and a half years, it has come to pass that I say goodbye to AXA. This has been a tough decision but alas it is a decision taken on doctor's orders. My heart is still with the guys and the music but my voice can't take anymore damage than it has taken over the years. It has been a great ride and I wish I could ride the cloud of AXA untill eternity. The gigs that are planned will go on with me as the singer."

AXAMENTA will take part in this weekend's Sandstorm festival, set to take place February 2 at Hal Hippodroom in Kuurne, Belgium. More...

Pain of Salvation Singer To Guest On Axamenta CD

PAIN OF SALVATION singer Daniel Gildenlöw will be featured as a guest vocalist on one track on the upcoming AXAMENTA album, entitled "Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture". "Daniel will do the vocals on one entire song, for which he has written the melody and vocal pattern himself," according to a posting on AXAMENTA's web site.

The former band of current EPICA bassist Yves Huts, AXAMENTA are recording new album at Hansen studio in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen (MERCENARY, RAUNCHY, ABORTED). Mixing and mastering will take place at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden under the supervision of producer Fredrik Nordström, who has previously worked with bands like IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, DIMMU BORGIR, THE HAUNTED and OLD MAN'S CHILD. A September/October release via Holland's Karmageddon Media (formerly Hammerheart Records) is expected.

AXAMENTA began their career by playing doom, fantasy and even death metal, but after a lot of lineup changes, they decided to make a radical shift in their musical style and began experimenting with a more technical and progressive approach. Their love for movie scores also made them replace the keyboards by orchestra samples, which gives them a unique sound in the Belgian metal scene.
