Metal Musicians React To Barack Obama Victory

History was made last night as the United States of America elected their first African-American President, Barack Hussein Obama. Over the past few months, musicians from all spectrums have been voicing their opinion over the historic race for presidency. Many of the same musicians have now voiced their opinion on the victory for the Democrats:

Sacred Reich frontman Phil Rind states: "It's over. The election has been decided. The American people have spoken loud and clear, and Barack Obama will be our next President. Many have waited eight long years for this day. We have suffered through two dissapointing and suspiscious elections. We have watched while Bush has made disasterous decisions, ruined the lives of millions of citizens, put our fighting men and women in harms way over a lie, and tarnished the image of America around the world.

"We have witnessed a historic moment when the spirit of the promise of America has been renewed. That Barack Hussien Obama was elected President of the United States is a testament to what is possible. That we had an opportunity to right our course, and that Americans overwhelmingly voted for change should bolster our hope for the future.

"We do not know what the fututre holds. There is a steep uphill battle to be fought to right the wrongs of our recent Presidential administration. But today we should be proud that a new spirit of hopefullness has replaced the cynicsm of our recent history. We should move forward together and write a new page in the ever changing landscape of Ameirica." More...

SOULFLY's website has posted the following message:

"The day has come for the announcement of the annual D-Low Memorial Show - the Cavalera familiy's yearly Arizona-based festival held in memory of Max's slain stepson, Dana Wells.

"On August 7th, 2008, the 12th Annual D-Low Memorial Festival will be held at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. So far, the bands scheduled to perform include SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SACRED REICH, THROWDOWN, BURY YOUR DEAD and INCITE.

"D-Low will be Soulfly's first performance following the release of their new album Conquer, which will be in stores on July 29th. Every year this celebration of the Soulfly tribe has proven to be the host to some of the most memorable events for Soulfly. Plan your trip now and come to pay respect to the ones who have already passed on, party with the tribe, and be the first to jam out to CONQUER! Ticket information will be coming soon.

See you at D-LOW!"

Sacred Reich Looking For 'Creative' Videos Online

Bassist/vocalist Phil Rind of the reactivated Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH has issued the following update:

"So occasionally I will get on YouTube and cruise around looking for cool videos of bands I like. Then I will search SACRED REICH and see what's on there. There is a cool re-vid for 'The American Way'. There are also some bands doing covers of our songs that I get a kick out of. So I was thinking it would be cool if anyone posts a SACRED REICH-related video on YouTube we will pick one we like and put it on our MySpace page. It can be a re-vid, a cover, whatever as long as it is one of our songs. Be creative! Just post it on YouTube, put it under the heading 'Sacred Reich' and once a month we'll check it out and put our favorite up on our site. I like it!

"I think back to when we started, and had to send copies of our demo on cassette in the mail to anyone who heard of us from their friends or a fanzine. Now you can download songs, videos, whatever you want and it's all available with a few click of a mouse. How fortunate!

"So we will be checking YouTube for cool stuff."

Sacred Reich Pull Out Of D-Low Memorial Show

Reunited Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH have cancelled their appearance at the 11th annual D-Low Memorial concert, set to take place August 31 at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona. "Wiley [Arnett, guitar] wrecked his dirt bike while out riding and broke a few ribs," explained bassist/vocalist Phil Rind. "He's doing well but is unable to perform this weekend.

"We apologize to anyone looking forward to seeing us play, and we are disappointed that we will not be part of the show. We were happy to have the opportunity to pay our musical respects to Dana. Hopefully we can be part of next year's bill and play a full set for Dana."

The D-Low show is held every year in memory of SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera's stepson Dana "D-Low" Wells who was killed in a 1996 car wreck. It is SOULFLY's biggest show of the year and draws fans from all over the United States. In 2004, SOULFLY filmed portions of its "The Song Remains Insane" DVD at the event.

Metal Blade Records released a three-disc deluxe reissue of SACRED REICH's "Ignorance" and "Surf Nicaragua" on June 15 (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and June 18 (rest of Europe). Two CDs are included in the package (both remastered!) as well as a bonus DVD. The package includes liner notes by Rind and Malcom Dome (Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Total Rock Radio) and an extensive booklet with loads of previously unpublished photos.

Sacred Reich Frontman Checks In

SACRED REICH bassist/vocalist Phil Rind has posted this road report from the band's current European reunion mini-tour:

"I am writing on Gump our tour manager's computer and everything is in German and I don't know how to capitalize use punctuation or hit 'enter' so bare with me.

We had a great three days in London - two sightseeing and drinking and a great show at Scala. Thanks to everyone for coming out from Ireland, Poland, Greece, Holland, Italy, France, Scotland, and those who just had to hop the tube. It was a great feeling to be there with all of you and we could feel how special it was to you and we felt the same way. Thank you.

We just spent two beautiful days in Paris seeing all the sights. I love France. All the stuff about the French not liking Americans or being rude is just a lie. Go see Paris. I am sitting in Biebob in Vosselaar, Belgium. They are checking the drums. Tonight will be fun and tomorrow we head to Eindhoven for a family reunion and Saturday is Wacken Open Air, so if you are coming to the shows, we'll see you soon."

So if you are coming to the shows we'll see you soon."
