Steve Vai Etc. 2nd ‘Generation Axe Tour’ Announced

Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society) Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme,) and Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders) team up for a second run of their ‘Generation Axe Tour‘. Bassist Pete Griffin (Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, Dweezil Zappa, etc.), keyboardist Nick Marionovich (Yngwie Malmsteen) and drummer JP Bouvet will join them on the tour as the backing band.

Comments Steve Vai:

“‘The Generation Axe‘ experience goes way beyond simply gathering five guitar greats on one stage to jam. The idea was to create a seamless show with one backing band and 5 completely accomplished and astonishing guitarists that take to the stage in various configurations, performing some of their solo music and merging together as cohesive co-creators of lushly orchestrated guitar extravaganzas. Guitar Jams like this can get really messy when there is no organization and my idea was to create parts for everybody to play in harmony and off each other so it’s not a mess of noise. This worked out remarkably well. There are places where everyone is playing together in wild harmony.”

Below's where that trek will stop: More...

Ozzy Osbourne says he will still continue to play one-off dates in the years to come. Comments Ozzy of that:

He continues:

Ozzy Osbourne To Embark On "Farewell" Tour

Heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne will be headlining festivals across Europe next year in what is, according to the organisers of Graspop Metal Meeting, his "farewell" world tour. Although this is being touted as his final world tour, Osbourne says he may still perform shows "here and there" and it is expected that he will still be releasing another album. An official statement or list of tour dates has yet to be announced by Osbourne's camp, but he has been confirmed to headline the Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Belgium, Denmark's, Copenhell event and both the British and Spanish editions of the Download festival.

Download Festival's promoter, Andy Copping said: "We’re unbelievably excited to have Ozzy as one of the headliners next year. Already hailing from the Midlands, Ozzy Osbourne is no stranger to Download, and after Black Sabbath closed the festival in 2016, how could I not ask The Prince of Darkness to come back all on his own? The Download family are without a shadow of a doubt, in for a treat."

More on this story will be revealed as soon as information becomes available.
