Doro To Release "Triumph And Agony Live" Album

There's something big coming up!

In celebration of 35 years of her classic album "Triumph And Agony" Doro Pesch of Warlock will release "Triumph And Agony Live" in various formats including CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD, Blu-ray and a huge boxset on September 24, 2021

Doro says: "It was always my dream to play the 'Triumph And Agony' album in its entirety live. The first time we did it was at Sweden Rock followed by a big tour in the USA and Spain, and more large festival shows like Graspop and Norway Rock."

Now it's finally done: a great live album/DVD/Blu-ray called "Triumph And Agony Live."

“It's one of my favourite records we've ever done! It includes some of our big classic anthems like ´All We Are´, ´Für Immer´ and ´I Rule The Ruins´ as well as fan favourites like ´Metal Tango´, ´Three Minute Warning´, ´Kiss Of Death´ and ´East Meets West´, not to forget headbanging album opener ´Touch Of Evil´. I'm super excited to let the fans hear and see it!"

Hear Her Roar: Women In Metal

Today marks International Women's Day, in which we remember the contributions of many great women throughout history as well as in the world today. The day was first celebrated by the Socialist Party Of America on February 28th 1909. The tradition of celebrating women on March 8th was first done in the then newly formed Soviet Union, who declared the day a national holiday. It was adopted by other Communist and Socialist countries as a holiday before the United Nations recognised the event in 1975. Today the significance of the day varies, still being a public holiday in some countries, a day of protest in others and officially ignored in a number of other nations. So, what does all this have to do with heavy metal? Marie Curie, Rosa Luxemburg, Angela Davis and Joan Of Arc may not be common names in the metal world, but we have plenty of our own heroines and ladies to rival the lords.

For a long time, the role of women in heavy metal was seen by outsiders as miniscule or worse, nothing more than objects. Perhaps women have more of a role in metal music than previously thought however. Let's take for example what's considered the first heavy metal album, "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath. The cover art depicts a mysterious woman, cloaked in black, stood right in the middle of an illustration of Mapledurham Watermill in Oxfordshire. This is only a tiny example of course, but as heavy metal grew, so did the presence of women. Bands would often sing about women, be it in the context of relationships ("Victim Of Changes" by Judas Priest for example, was comprised of two earlier songs "Whisky Woman" and "Red Light Lady,") sex "Charlotte The Harlot" by Iron Maiden or as inspirations ("Jet City Woman" by Queensryche.) Doro Announces Warlock 30th Anniversary Shows

Released in 1987, "Triumph And Agony" is the fourth studio album from German heavy metal titan Warlock. The record was a mammoth success globally with hit singles and MTV's Headbangers Ball favorites "All We Are" and "Für immer" among other now-pinnacle anthems like "East Meets West," "Metal Tango," "I Rule The Ruins," and "Touch Of Evil."

In honor of its 30th anniversary, this September Warlock vocalist Doro Pesch will for the first time ever perform the album in its entirety on two European festival dates this Summer and a special run of U.S. live performances.

Joined by original "Triumph And Agony" guitarist Tommy Bolan alongside bassist Nick Douglas, drummer Johnny Dee, guitarist Bas Maas and guitarist/keyboardist Luca Princiotta, Pesch will hit Worcester, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

"'Triumph And Agony' was our breakthrough album in America," issues Pesch, "and it's still one of my absolute favorites! I'm so excited to play some of these songs for the first time and I'm so much looking forward to play with Tommy again. I'm sure it's gonna sound great and we'll put on a killer show." More...
