Pteroglyph Uploads New Music Video
Modern metal trio Pteroglyph are streaming new single "Black Death," taken from their upcoming album, Solaire, set for release on 6th November 2020 via Blood Blast. You can check out the music video, which originally premiered on Metal Sucks, below.
Vocalist / guitarist Jimmy MacGregor commented: "This track is a chaotic demonstration of unrelenting guitar fuelled madness. With one foot in thrash and the other deep rooted in modern technical metal, this song was written to give little room for breathing!
"The concept for the song is loosely based on an infection that overtakes humanity. Only the strong survive and the weak can only beg forgiveness.....seems relevant these days!" More...
Pteroglyph Reveals New Album Details
Modern metal trio Pteroglyph have announced the release of sophomore album, "Solaire," set for release on 6th November 2020 via Blood Blast. You can watch the video for the album's title-track below.
Pteroglyph are a modern metal band from Leeds, England, formed in 2012 by lead songwriter and frontman Jimmy MacGregor as a solo project. Now with the line-up completed by guitarist Ansley Prothero (JOR and Bludger) and drummer Bradie Nixon (Mishkin, Bludger, Osiah), Pteroglyph are set to establish themselves as a vital force in the 2020s.
Solaire is the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut "Death of a Prince," which firmly put the band on the metal map. Demand on the live circuit earned them dates with SikTh, Aliases, Evil Scarecrow, Sworn Amongst, Exist Immortal and Beholder, as well as slots at Mammothfest, Wildfire Festival, Bloodstock and UK Tech-Fest.
The majority of recording and production of Solaire was handled by Jimmy MacGregor, with all live drums performed by Bradie Nixon and recorded at Greenmount Studios in Leeds with Lee Smith, who also handled the final mix of the album. The album was mastered by Acle Kahney of TesseracT. More...
Pteroglyph Issues "Red On You" Video Clip
Jimmy MacGregor, under the pseudonym Pteroglyph, issued a video clip for the new song "Red On You." The song is taken from the upcoming new album "Death Of A Prince," which is set for release on June 23rd.
"I used to regularly wake up in a cold sweat from a nightmare where I was constantly being chased by some sort of terrifying sinister force," comments Jimmy. "I put the reasons for the dream down to times of high stress in my life and 'Red On You' is basically a way of addressing this and the need for change. It's the idea that running away from your problems doesn’t make them go away."
The blood soaked video was shot on a shoestring budget by a good friend of Jimmy's, Ben Daure from Grape Productions. "I approached Ben with a more comical idea involving similar gross themes but this was quickly overturned in favour of creating the most graphic and gruesome video we could. We enlisted the help of some close friends who are extremely talented at visual effects and latex prosthetics to make all the gory mess. We recruited more friends to be the main protagonists and even borrowed our guitarists children to star in the video..."
The track listing for the album is:
1. Left Blind
2. Unaccountable
3. Deceit Of Choice
4. Red On You
5. The Wanderer
6. Death Of A Prince (song streaming here)

Jimmy comments on the title track, "This song is about how I feel the positivity and togetherness in society has been lost and how quickly people seem to criticize and dismiss any optimism rather than encourage it. It's based around the saying 'rain on your parade.' Having your good time suppressed or your bonfire being well and truly pissed on by someone determined to bring you down to their level of misery."

Pteroglyph Announces "Death Of A Prince"
“This album is a culmination of everything I have been working on with Pteroglyph over the last few years," states Jimmy MacGregor, the one man behind the UK based project. Recently, he completed work on his latest work, "Death Of A Prince," which is set for release on June 23rd.
Founded in 2012 in Leeds, in the northern English county of Yorkshire Jimmy craved something to channel his musical and artistic works into and so, Pteroglyph (pronounced "terroh gliff") was born. Inspired by his own journey through life and musical greats the likes of Devin Townsend, Sylosis and Gojira one should expect adjectives such as grand, epic, progressive, technical, metal and heavy being used to describe the latest record.
"The themes and ideas behind the songs are drawn from personal life experiences that we all deal with on a regular basis such as love, death, anger and misery. It is an honest statement of my personality and views on the world brought to life through obnoxious screaming and dramatic aural landscapes! This album and Pteroglyph is most certainly a labour of love. Whether it’s the furious rage of one song to some of the more melancholy aspects of the album, it’s an expression of who I am and reflects everything I love about heavy music. Bringing this live to the stage is going to create something very special and extremely punishing that you will not want to miss! I hope everyone can dig all the music as much as I’ve enjoyed it creating it!” More...
