The Doomsday Kingdom Issues Track-By-Track

The Doomsday Kingdom will release mesmerizing debut EP "Never Machine" and invite you to be part of a new doom metal era on November 25th.

Today Candlemass virtuoso and The Doomsday Kingdom mastermind Leif Edling reveals more details about the four new songs. In this second first track-by-track feature, he speaks about "Zodiac City" and "The Whispering" with these comments:

"'Zodiac City' is my interpretation of 'The Zodiac' and what he did in and outside of San Francisco in 1969. I really like this song and alot of people have asked me why it won't be on the album. The simple answer is that I can't have all the EP songs on the album. There is plenty of great stuff on the full length and I can't feature the entire EP there. But it's a cool song, and Niklas does a great job on it. Especially the last chorus sends shivers down the spine!"

"'The Whispering' is a soft ballad, and one of my favourites," he adds. "Wonderful keys by Dr Carl who creates an epic atmosphere on this track. In the future I can definitely see myself re-do the "Whispering" with a full orchestra or do it live in a basement bar somewhere just with an acoustic guitar..."

At Roadburn in April 2017, the band will play a first-ever performance with the recovered Leif Edling live on stage. Don't miss this gloomy happening.

Leif Edling Issues Track-By-Track Commentary

The masters of the catacombs from The Doomsday Kingdom release their mesmerizing new EP "Never Machine" on November 25th, Today Candlemass' virtuoso Leif Edling reveals more details about these four new songs. In this first track-by-track feature, he invites you into the darkest corners of doom metal.

"'Never Machine' is the first track on the EP," Leif explains. "It is also the very first song that I wrote for The Doomsday Kingdom. It starts with a riff à la Black Sabbath and takes off into doomier territories with the haunting chorus and the extra heavy outro! I must also mention Marcus Jidell's blitzering solo. First Lips from Anvil was supposed to come down to the Ghostward studio in Stockholm and do his thing with it, but it should have been too tight for him time-wise because of the Anvil show in Stockholm the same day. So Marcus did it instead and I totally love it!

"'The Sceptre' is the second track on the EP. I've said many things about this song already, so I thought I should mention a couple of things that you don't already know. This is the demo version of it, right?! On the album version, 'The Sceptre' is a bit re-arranged. There's a couple of more harmony guitars added on it as well. We also have some people guesting: In the mid 'classical' solo part, we included a mellotron that is played by one of this country's best mello-players, who's name I will disclose later on... Same thing with the long end solo. One of my all time heroes and musical influences was kind enough to put his guitar and stamp on here to make this song very special! Lovely solo, lovely bloke!" Leif Edling Discusses New Band

Led by Candlemass' Leif Edling, The Doomsday Kingdom's demo EP "Never Machine" will be out on November 25th. However, this is only the beginning of a new reign of doom metal.

"I'm so happy that things are moving in the right direction for The Doomsday Kingdom!", Doomfather Leif comments. "I've been putting my heart and soul into the new EP and album for about two and a half years now. So it's very relieving to finally see an end to all the work. Soon the world will hear the sound of the catacombs coming to life!"

He goes on to say, "I'm currently doing the final touches to the album. It is recorded, mixed and mastered, and has come out absolutely fantastic! Just a few graphic things left with photos, booklet etc. and then it will be ready. I'm very proud of this album! It sounds so good, therefore the visual aspect has to be just as great, when it sees the light of day in March next year! In the meantime, I hope people will enjoy the EP ‘Never Machine’. It's rough, it's raw, it's direct! It gives a hint of what's coming!" More...
