Background
This melodic death metal band, formed by former Carcass’ guitarist, Michael Amott, started out with Johan Liiva on vocals, but then replaced him with Angela Gossow. Though a female replaced him, the band still has the same death metal vocal style. Gossow, who has only been with the band on the past two albums, has been able to create a strong presence in the band.

Please welcome one of the most important and influential bands of the last decade for the first time at Summer Breeze! Hard, harder, Hatebreed!"

Arch Enemy Posts New Studio Report Online
Swedish melodic death metal act Arch Enemy have posted new footage from the studio online. The band recently announced that it is in the process of recording a new full length album. A press release regarding the forthcoming full length can be read at this location. The studio report is available for viewing below:
Arch Enemy Recording New Album
Swedish melodic death metal act Arch Enemy has begun recording a new studio album, which will be the successor to 2007’s "Rise Of The Tyrant." After releasing the "Tyrants Of The Rising Sun – Live In Japan" live DVD/CD (2008) and the re-recordings album, "The Root Of All Evil" (2009), the band will now record it's next studio album.
The yet-to-be-named album will be self-produced by Arch Enemy, and engineered/mixed by Rickard Bengtsson (whom produced 2005's Doomsday Machine). The band has recently entered Sweetspot Studio in the south of Sweden for the album’s recording process, and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, who just finished off tracking his parts, checked in with the following report:
"After an intense but inspiring stay in the studio, I've just completed recording the drum tracks for the upcoming Arch Enemy album! We're working once again with Rickard Bengtsson, who produced ‘Doomsday Machine’, and he quickly dialed in an absolutely pristine drumtone! I've also had the expertise of local drum guru Beppe Wackelin at hand, helping out with tuning and kindly letting me use some of his vintage drums. This time around I've used a Pearl Reference drum kit, while incorporating various snare drums on songs that demanded a slightly different feel.
"We had a very inspiring and creative time writing this album, I think this is definitely evident when listening to the new songs. There's tons of variation in the material, ranging all the way from very melodic to extremely heavy. As you can expect there's no shortage of killer riffs and intricate guitar work, the Amott Bros have come up with some very cool yet demanding ideas! This album has some of the fastest songs I've ever recorded, along with a bunch of heavy pounding mid tempo songs. As always, it's difficult to describe music in words - but rest assured - this album will be one heavy fucker!"

Hammerfall To Headline Summer Breeze
The organizers of the Summer Breeze fest have issued the following announcement about Hammerfall headlining the 2011 edition of the festival:
"Merry Christmas! Now that we're halfway through our Advent Calendar, which has had plenty of killer bands so far, we want to present you the first headliner for Summer Breeze 2011: Hammerfall.
"They are one of the most relevant and successful heavy metal bands of the last 15 years, yet they have never played at Summer Breeze. It's about time to change that! We are extremely happy to present Hammerfall as one of this year's headliners! The undisputed leaders of true metal have loads of metal anthems and catchy melodies under their belt, after they almost single-handedly put traditional power metal back on the map with their glorious 1997 debut 'Glory To The Brave.'
"And what started as a fairytale became a metal dream come true, including high chart entries all over Europe for every one of their seven studio albums. If each of you goes back in time for a minute, you will certainly remember at least one metal party where you were banging your fists singing along to hymns such as 'Steel Meets Steel', 'Hearts on Fire' or 'Heeding The Call'. To put it in their own words: 'Brothers unite! Let's stand up and fight!'" More...

Arch Enemy Issues U.K. Tour Recap
Arch Enemy has checked in with the following recap of the band's recent U.K. shows and update about working on a new album:
"We want to thank everybody who came out to the shows on our recent UK tour, despite the freezing temperatures! You made this tour a fantastic ending to our 2010 touring cycle and we will cherish these memories whilst being locked up in the studio now for a couple of months, creating the new Arch Enemy album...
"It was a real pleasure having Chthonic, Malefice and our Swedish brothers from Grand Magus on this little run! Their ‘Hammer Of The North’ album is one of our favorite 2010 releases and it was a treat hearing them jam whilst we were getting ready to go on stage ourselves. United Kingdom Of Heavy Metal – We salute you! We can’t wait to be back with a new album in 2011!"
Arch Enemy Playing Summer Breeze 2011
The organizers of the Summer Breeze 2011 festival have issued the following statement about confirming Arch Enemy:
"They belong to the most popular and important bands in the entire metal scene, they are regularly found on the covers of European magazines thanks to their attractive blond front woman Angela Gossow, and they release killer album after killer album. We're talking about Arch Enemy! Their last studio album, 'Rise Of The Tyrant', was released over three years ago, but this hasn't diminished the Swedish-German collaboration's popularity in the least. Quite the contrary, as in the meantime the band led by guitar virtuoso Michael Amott have even foud the time and boldness to conquer such exotic places as the Maldives.
"Being able to prevail on stage in a place like that, it will be an easy feat for them to bring Summer Breeze 2011 crumbling down with their textbook melodic death metal. By the way, the band are feverishly working on a new album, which will hopefully have been released by August 2011. More...

Angela Gossow Talks Atheism, Veganism, And More
Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy recently conducted a Romanian interview with Maximum Rock Magazine, in which she discusses issues such as atheism, veganism, and the use of satanic themes in metal music. Excerpts from the interview can be read below.
Maximum Rock: I read your biography and some of your answers to the fans and I can see that you are a really committed and determined person and really involved in political issues, with a strong and right attitude against racism, globalization and stuff like that. How do you think you can raise the awareness regarding these issues among youngsters?
Angela: I think people look for answers, I think that’s what’s great about the young generation, that’s why they’re most likely to make changes and start up little revolutions, you know… Because you’re more rebellious as a teenager, a lot of people get tired when they get older and I think it’s important to stay in the dialog with young kids. I tell as much as I can about me, about what I believe in and a lot of people pick up on that because they look actively for inspiration. Some have questions and I try to answer them and make them realize that we’re living in an age where we all know that our world is dying for one thing and we know that wars are not the answer to any political problem, yet environmental destruction is still ongoing and there’s still a lot of wars raging. It’s absurd. The war in Iraq is not over despite the fact that it’s out of the news. It’s a very confusing time people live in and it’s very frightening as well… It feels a bit like end time, doesn’t it? I don’t really preach about what I do, I only answer questions, like when people ask me why am I a vegan, I explain it to them, or why am I an atheist, I explain it to them. But I’m quite careful with these things because I definitely don’t want to be a preacher, there’s enough preachers out there and a lot end up in politics and religion and I mistrust preachers. I rather practice and set an example. I think it’s important to let people know what I believe in, because I feel responsible for my actions and I also feel responsible for telling young kids the right things.More...
