Vancouver Black Metal Exhibit Announced

Photographer Peter Beste and graphic artist Christophe Szpajdel will be featured in the first installation of Vancouver’s “Black” - The Black Metal Exhibition - being held from June 11th to 19th at the Evergreen Cannabis Society (2868 West 4th Avenue).

"Black" has been conceived by local photographer Kevin Eisenlord, who joined forces with Abelardo Mayoral, concert promoter at The Invisible Orange. to materialize this event. Eisenlord comments:

"I actually came in contact with Christophe through friends in black metal band Idolatry whom I had done pictures for and Peter is an icon in the black metal community in general, so I messaged him as I was really interested in a critic of my photos because he is one the most respected authorities in black metal photography. From there I have developed a friendship with both as I look up to their work and thus the reason for showcasing two of the world's great black metal artists in Vancouver, plus nothing like this has ever been held in the city before."

The exhibition will feature the photography of Peter Beste, a documentary photographer based in Portland, Oregon and well known in the metal community for his photography book “True Norwegian Black Metal.” More...

Idolatry In Vehicle Crash, Cancels Show

Edmonton’s own Idolatry was involved in a car accident on May 28th on Highway 17 East of Wawa, Ontario.

While travelling down a gravel road the band's vehicle veered off the road and into the ditch. Lord Matzigkeitus (vocals) sustained some cracked ribs during the accident, but no other members were severely hurt.

The black metal group has been on tour performing in Canada and was on route to a May 29th show in Brandon, MB, which would have been the last date of the tour and was subsequently cancelled. The band apologizes to fans who were hoping to see the performance.

Idolatry has launched a crowdfunding campaign here to raise money for vehicle repairs and fuel to get back to Edmonton. The band comments:

“Our band Idolatry went out east for our first Canadian tour and right before our last show had a vehicle accident. We are all fine, bruised but fine. Unfortunately, we have to cancel the remainder of the tour and need your help to make it back to Edmonton, Alberta. If you can make a donation we would be incredibly grateful.” More...

Idolatry Announces New Tour Dates

Edmonton's Idolatry seeks to maintain the exclusive nature that traditional European black metal bands apply to their music and performances - the group's first official Edmonton show was May 1st, and it will be a while before another hometown show in order to maintain an esoteric presence.

The rest of Canada isn't so safe however, as the band has booked a seven day tour that extends from Winnipeg to Toronto (dates listed below). Vocalist Lord Matzigkeitus also comments: "Rid yourselves of pitiful covenants with gods. Come to the fury of Idolatry's cross Canada Anti-Baptism Ritual"

The tour is being sponsored by Death To Peace Productions and features various locals including Catharcyst (Quebec), Muff Huffers (Ontario), and Shadow Chief (Quebec).

May 16 - Winnipeg, Manitoba @ The Zoo
May 20 - Toronto, Ontario @ Coalition T.O
May 22 - Montréal, Québec @ Bar Hemisphère Gauche
May 23 - Québec, Québec @ Salle Unisson
May 24 - Saguenay, Québec @ K-Baret
May 27 - Sudbury, Ontario @ Little Montréal
May 29 - Brandon, Manitoba @ North Hill Inn

Idolatry Posts New Music Video

Edmonton, AB black metal outfit Idolatry has a new video clip for "Clefs au Chambre de Tristêsse" available online, which can be seen below courtesy of NoCleanSinging.com.

The video was created by NVS Productions from Nashville, Tennessee (previously produced videos for Wormreich, Hades, and Borgne) and showcases a terrifying nightmare of mirrored figures moving eerily in the darkness. Idolatry comments:

?"'Clefs au Chambre de Tristêsse' began as an unholy pact between Unrest and ourselves. It is a conjuration in french that weaves a tale of someone who has prepared a room to end their life in. Meticulously set up to capture the ultimate failure of hopes, lingerings and plans. A trembling hand holds the key towards the door... Knowing inside is finite.”

The track’s introduction is sung in French while the second portion is a spoken word poem in English constructed by Lörd Matzigkeitus (vocals) called "Once Thought Of Webs." The band decided not to add this song to a future full length or EP, and instead release it as a stand alone.

When asked to comment the band simply stated “We have chosen to release this exclusively on limited run vinyl, hand numbered by the band. There will be no other versions available besides these and this decrepit, cryptic video by NVS Productions. Be haunted and suffer.....” More...
