Child Bite Streams "Video Blood"

In just two weeks, "Negative Noise," the impending new full-length from Detroit act Child Bite, will see official unveiling via Housecore Records. As a precursor to its release, today fifth movement "Video Blood" comes online and can be heard below.

Issues vocalist Shawn Knight of the track: "'Video Blood' is a bit different from the rest of the batch. We wanted to counter the more complicated tunes on Negative Noise by having some simpler ones. Everything from the bass lines to the repetitive lyrics to the overall structure are paired down from what we tend to do.

"Lyrically, it's about violence in entertainment. It's the antithesis of thinking that these types of films and games are bad for kids; my stance in the song is that it's good to be exposed and desensitized to that stuff. It has as much to do with the PMRC/Parental Advisory stickers as it does Columbine as it does that scene in A Clockwork Orange where Malcolm McDowell has his eyes forced open. Obviously, my references are of immediate relevance. All kidding aside, it can be summed up by this line from the song; 'Artificial violence satisfies the dark urges within.'"

You can also see Child Bite live with Voivod and King Parrot on these dates:

Child Bite Streaming "Born A Hog"

Child Bite's "Negative Noise" full-length will see release next month via Housecore Records, and today new track "Born A Hog" is spewed forth.

"'Born A Hog" is about how much it would suck to be born a hog," considers vocalist Shawn Knight. "I eat my fair share of bacon, but I can't help keeping in mind where it comes from. Interesting how we choose certain animals to eat and others to pamper. I've got two pet dogs, but I also eat bacon. Kinda fucked up when you think about it. Thinking too much about anything can ruin the experience, but I believe that the least I can do for that pig is to make myself feel a little guilty while I'm eating him. We were stoked to get a real pig on the track too; you can hear sweet Lucy squealing at the very end of the song."

The perpetually road-bound noise rock misfits will also play shows next month opening for the mighty Voivod alongside labelmates King Parrot with additional onstage debauchery to be announced in the coming weeks.

Child Bite Releasing "Negative Noise"

Detroit's favorite musical misfits Child Bite will unveil brand new full-length, "Negative Noise," this April 1st. Having released three full-lengths, as well as a gaggle of EPs and singles since the group's formation in late 2005, the prolific collective is now well into the second phase of bandhood.

What began as a thoughtful-yet-spazzy art rock band in a Detroit suburb has now fully mutated into an aggressive, dissonant blend of all things punk, hardcore, sludge, surf, prog rock, noise rock and metal; a truly unique voice in a sea of copycats.

"Negative Noise" is forty-seven-minute throbbing ball of energy filled with furious jabs and paranoia-fueled explosions. Produced by Philip H. Anselmo and featuring artwork by vocalist Shawn Knight, "Negative Noise" is a fully-realized vision, inside and out. The album's track listing is as follows:

1. Death Before Dementia
2. Paralytic Phantasm
3. Euphoria Saturation Point
4. Born A Hog
5. Video Blood
6. Apex Of Anxiety
7. Vermin Mentality
8. Beyond The Dirt
9. The Great Ego Flood
10. Into The Disease
11. Feed Me Septic Dreams
12. Heretic Generation More...

Berserker III Band Lineup Announced

This March, the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan will play host to the annual Berserker Music Fest.

Now in its third year, the event - a truly DIY affair founded and organized by Child Bite frontman Shawn Knight and wife Veronica - Berskerer III boasts its most devouring lineups to date with the all-ages three-night/three-stage gala.

Appearances will be made by internationally touring acts like Voivod, Ghoul, Conan, Macabre, Cannabis Corpse and Black Tusk as well as a spattering of new and established Michigan-based artists like Acid Witch, Child Bite, Perversion and Shit Life.

Comments Knight, "It's a fucking blast putting this thing together. Veronica and I pick all of the bands and organize the entire weekend. I handle all of the art and a lot of the promotion side too. It's a metric shit ton of work and it's really stressful, but in the end it's all worth it. We're basically just making something that we wish was already had; a bit of the ol' 'if you build it, they will come.' I spent a lot of time at various metal fests last year, either playing them with Child Bite or simply attending them. It's great to see what works, what doesn't, and just in general let it affect how we plan our next event. This is our biggest lineup yet, and our biggest venue, so I can't wait to see how it all turns out!"

Sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon, VGKids, ESP Printing, UHF Records, CJAM 99.1 FM and Woodward Avenue Brewers, Berserker III will take place on March 3rd, 4th, and 5th with a special FREE PreSerker kickoff party slated to take place at Small's (Hamtramck) on Wednesday, March 2nd featuring eight bands on two stages. Child Bite Announces New Tour Dates

After a short holiday slumber, Detroit's favorite road hounds from Child Bite will take to the streets again for another round of onstage pandemonium.

The live chaos will commence February 11th in Saginaw, Michigan and trample through eleven cities, with the trek coming to a close on February 21st again in the band's home state in Grand Rapids. Child Bite will be joined by Against The Grain for the first three dates before uniting with Poison Idea for the remaining dates.

Comments frontman Shawn Knight: "Us Child Bite assholes have been chomping at the bit to hit the road again. Feels weird to sit still for more than a week or so. We are tickled pink to finally be doing a few out of state shows with our Detroit bros Against The Grain! Both of our bands have been hitting it hard for a while now; I'm glad we can combine forces. We met Poison Idea when we both played Berserker Fest last year, so when they asked us to do some East Coast and Canadian dates with them we responded with a resounding, 'duh!.' These are our first shows of the New Year and we are ready to blast off with a big kaboom!" More...

Housecore Horror Film Festival 2015 Day One

Philip H. Anselmo brought his third installment of his Housecore Horror Film Festival to San Antonio this year. Many hearts were heavy as this was the first festival that founder Corey Mitchell didn’t have his thumb under. Mitchell died at the end of last year’s festival.

The first two years were held at Emo’s and Midway Field house in Austin. This time the Aztec Theater and Korova hosted the metallic mayhem. Less than a block down the street the film festival occupied the 7th floor of the Holiday Inn San Antonio River Walk. The Korova is a few blocks further. All venues took place in San Antonio’s historic river walk district. When not accosting their ear drums with brutal metal, fans, especially those from out of state, took a stroll down the River Walk. Joel Grind from Toxic Holocaust was one of those fans in attendance. More...

Child Bite Checks In From The Road

Detroit's Child Bite is currently monopolizing stages across the U.S. supporting KEN mode. The latest trek follows the band's North American expedition supporting Superjoint and King Parrot on the It Takes Guts Summer takeover as well as a short followup run opening for Down. Comments Child Bite vocalist Shawn Knight from the van of inequity:

"I type these words while bouncing inside our rattling cargo van going 80 mph, listening to fucking U2, heading east out of Colorado toward Kansas City. We are about a week and a half into our month-long trek with Canadian power trio KEN mode. They are surprisingly sweet boys and haven't beaten any of us up yet. What a disappointment.

"Tour highlights so far include visiting the lighthouse from the Temple Of The Dog 'Hunger Strike' music video in Seattle as well as staying up til 5:30 am playing blackjack at the Hooters casino in Las Vegas. With a track record of zany antics like that, who knows what kind of terrible memories we will rack up over the next couple weeks? Child Bite thrives on shame."

Remaining tour dates are as follows:

9/25/2015 Mohawk - Austin, TX
9/26/2015 Sons Of Herman Hall - Dallas, TX
9/27/2015 Siberia - New Orleans, LA

King Diamond Added to Housecore Horror Film Fest

This November, Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore Horror Fest will celebrate its third year of audio and visual bedlam. Set to commence in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater (201 E Commerce St.) on November 13th -15th, 2015, the horror-themed film and metal gala promises to be louder, gorier and more bludgeoning than ever before boasting two film-screening rooms, multiple vendors, special artist signings throughout the weekend and what's morphing into one of the most debilitating lineups of the year!

Already stacked with a crushing bill that includes Agoraphobic Nosebleed performing their second show ever, Corrosion Of Conformity featuring Pepper Keenan, Claudio Simonetti's Goblin doing a live score of George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, Superjoint, Eyehategod, Nails, Crowbar, Dropdead, Autopsy, Poison Idea, and so many others, the gatekeepers of Housecore Horror Fest today welcome the additions of thrash metal icons, Exodus, veteran death metal legion, Incantation, apocalyptic hardcore punk unit, Gasmiasma, atmospheric drone doom duo, Muscle And Marrow and theatrical heavy metal legend King Diamond whose performance will feature 1987 quintessential second full-length, Abigail, in its harrowing entirety! As an added bonus, Gwar's fabled Sleazy P. Martini will also be attending the annual gathering as a special guest!

And the awesome won't stop there. The fest has expanded the range of its grotesqueries, with a second stage located just steps away from the Aztec Theater. The Korova, at 107 E. Martin St. in San Antonio, will play host to even MORE bands throughout the weekend. Stay tuned for additional band announcements for The Korova in the coming weeks.

Comments Anselmo: "I am beyond excited to announce that the mighty King Diamond will be attacking the house on Friday the 13th at the Housecore Horror Festival. All hail the King."

Adds Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor, who's shaping this year's HHF lineup alongside Anselmo: "It's been a lot of fun piecing together this lineup with Philip. It's gonna be a wild one, so get your tickets while you still can!" More...

Child Bite Has A "Mongoloid Obsession"

Child Bite, which will tour with Superjoint in July, just released a new video for "Mongoloid Obsession." The tune comes by way of the band's pillaging "Strange Waste" EP, released last year via Housecore Records.

Written and directed by the band during recent studio sessions at the famed Nodferatu's Lair and self-described as a "lo-if slab of Ed Wood-meets-John Waters bafoonery," the clip features a cameo appearance by Philip H. Anselmo and finds Child Bite at the band's most bizarre. More...

Superjoint Announces "It Takes Guts" Summer Tour

American metal icons Superjoint (formerly Superjoint Ritual) will embark on the band's first tour in over a decade.

Presented by frontman Philip H. Anselmo's own Housecore Records, The "It Takes Guts" summer takeover will commence on July 10th in Oklahoma City and ravage its way through thirteen U.S. cities with additional dates to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Child Bite Checks In With Studio Report

Detroit's punk metal/noise rock misfits from Child Bite recently took a brief pause from their U.S. live takeover to record a forthcoming new full-length at Philip H. Anselmo's famed Nodferatu's Lair.

Reports vocalist Shawn Knight from the Lair: "We've been having a blast in the studio with Philip Anselmo! Historically, Child Bite has tracked full-length LPs in two to four days, so it has been both strange and relieving to spend two full weeks at Nodferatu's Lair.

"The thirteen songs we tracked sound incredible, ten of which will make up the album while the other three will be released independently. In our spare time, we also shot a music video for 'Mongoloid Obsession' off of the 'Strange Waste' EP. Written and directed by the band, it's a lo-if slab of Ed Wood-meets-John Waters bafoonery. Look for that sucker any day now!"

The band's forthcoming long player will be unleashed via Anselmo's Housecore Records later this year. You can also see the band live on these dates: More...

Child Bite Working On New Album

The Detroit-based misfits from Child Bite have been holed up in their den of iniquity penning new tunes for an as-yet-untitled new full-length, to be recorded by Philip H. Anselmo at his famed Nodferatu's Lair.

The record serves as the follow-up to last year's "Strange Waste" EP, released via Housecore Records. The band comments:

"Us 'bite boys have been holed up all winter, writing tons of stuff for the next record. We've been talking to Phil about recording with him for quite a while; we really just did Strange Waste last year as a way to keep busy while waiting for his busy schedule to clear up. We write in waves, with most songs requiring either four or five distinct passes before they are complete. Most of the songs are entering the third and fourth passes, with lyrics just getting started on. We sent Phil a bunch of really rough demos last week to share our progress and his response was; 'insanely great ideas!' Juice levels are reaching new heights in the CB camp."

In related CHILD BITE intel, the band will appear on an upcoming, limited edition Celtic Frost tribute record. Set for release via Corpse Flower Records this Spring as a supplement to the "Morbid Tales! An Illustrated Tribute To Celtic Frost" comic, Child Bite opens the collection with a rendition of "The Usurper" featuring Anselmo on lead vocals.

"If you saw us at our release show or on tour last Fall," the band notes, "you may have heard us play it with [vocalist] Shawn [Knight] doing his best Anselmo-meets-Tom G impression." The comp will also include Acid Witch, Municipal Waste, members of Neurosis and Repulsion and more. More...

Child Bite Streaming Full EP

On the eve of its official unveiling via Housecore Records, today Revolver Magazine heaves forth Child Bite's "Strange Waste" EP in its mutinous entirety. Give it a listen below.

The latest collection of audio pandemonium from Detroit's punk/metal miscreants was self-produced at Russian Recording in Indianapolis, Indiana, and boasts a wholly bastardized hybrid of the Melvins, Dead Kennedys, Big Black, and System Of A Down.

Expands vocalist Shawn Knight of the EP overall, "We've always worked a bit backwards, usually booking the studio time prior to writing any of the music for any given record. It lights a fire under our collective ass, which helps with creativity. We work well with restrictions or parameters.

"This time we took it a step further and chose the release format [double 45 rpm vinyl] prior to writing. That's why all of the songs on Strange Waste are so short... we wanted each of the four sides to be under five minutes long. We treated this EP like an album; ten songs stripped down to the bare essentials." More...

Child Bite Molests The Arts

With the imminent release of the "Strange Waste" EP now less than two weeks away, today Invisible Oranges hurls forth the tumultuous sounds of "Molestation Of The Arts" from Detroit punk/metal marauders, Child Bite. Check out the track below.

Captured at Russian Recording in Indianapolis, Indiana and produced by Child Bite, "Strange Waste" fuses all walks of extreme from metal, noise, and hardcore without falling squarely into any of one those genres.

Elaborates Child Bite vocalist Shawn Knight of the new track: "I am an artist and a designer. I often have internal debates about where the line is between the two; what is pure art, the difference between art and design, and is it ok for the two to blend. Sometimes it's clear, sometimes not so much.

"This song is a very cynical critique on the art director/ad agency side of things, coming from an artist's point of view. One way of looking at advertising is that it's pure manipulation; a commercial's job is to sell you a product or service; to make you want it more than the other options available. One tactic agencies use is hijacking whatever the latest trends are to seem hip... This way whatever they are selling comes off as 'cool.' Cool sells. That's what this tune is about; major corporations attempting to appear trendy in order to trick people out of their money." More...
