Since The Flood Calls It Quits

New England hardcore/metal band Since The Flood has broken up. Formed in 2002, the group has released albums with Ironclad Recordings and Metal Blade Records. Drummer Luke Buckbee has issued the following statement:

"It's been a long and hard 6.5 years. Would I ever give one second of it up? Not for the world. As of Thursday September 11th 2008, Since the Flood is done. I'm sure this is a huge surprise to many people, but it was a decision that needed to be made.

"No matter what anyone thought of us, we were a blue collar band. We never had the hype that many more recent bands enjoy. We toured our asses off, partied all over the world, and wrote music that we loved to play. Since the Flood never made any money and never turned into a true business. Looking back, I think that this was a blessing in disguise, because we can all walk away and feel in no way cheated. We all had some amazing experiences and all came home broke as shit.

"Why the break-up? Gas prices? Member issues? Yup. But those aren't the main reasons. It's just time to move on. For Chuck, Kevin, and Rob that time came sooner than later, but for Dave, Nate, Ricky, Dan and I, the time is now. There's no anger or bitterness it's just time to start a new chapter in our lives and careers. More...

The Acacia Strain Readies Tour, New Album

Massachusetts four-piece, The Acacia Strain, is set to embark on a month-long headlining tour this summer. The SUN YOUR BUNZ tour, which kicks off in Buffalo on May 30th, will run through the end of June, leveling 26 cities along the way. Adding to the onslaught are fellow Massachusetts hardcore veterans, Since the Flood, and Nuclear Blast’s, All Shall Perish, who will be along for the duration of the tour. The Warriors (Victory Records) and Eternal Lord (Ferret Music) round out the lineup as they perform on select dates. SUN YOUR BUNZ will finish up on June 29th in Holyoke, MA, just minutes outside The Acacia Strain’s hometown of Springfield, where the band will have their set filmed for an upcoming DVD. The band will then bring the brutality overseas for a European tour with Annotations of an Autopsy and Knights of the Abyss.

"This is the best time of year to tour,” says The Acacia Strain vocalist, Vincent Bennett. “I couldn't ask for a better group of dudes to spend my time on the road with. Excited to see old friends and meet new ones. It is going to be a killer June. Come on out and SUN YOUR BUNZ!"

The Acacia Strain is also gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album, "Continent," which is due out on August 19th on Prosthetic Records. The band had the opportunity to work with acclaimed producer, Zeuss,(Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, God Forbid) on the release.

"We don't remember when writing a record felt this good,” explains the band’s guitarist, DL. “Continent has something to it that we never really tried before; some uncharted territory, but at the same time still left us room to do what we love doing best. There's a little something for everyone on this one...even that guy."

"This fucking tour is going to crush! We love the ACACIA STRAIN’s music and the great dudes in the band. THE WARRIORS are added to half the tour as well, so its not only gonna be a mosh nightmare but an awesome time with old friends. We are also going to debut around three new songs so we cant wait! SINCE THE FLOOD has always been awesome hardcore and now with Nate Johnson singing for them they are going to be insane. Through The Eyes Of The Dead frontman, Nate Johnson (Premonitions of War), has apparently left the band and joined Massachusetts hardcore/metal outfit Since The Flood. Johnson, who only joined TTEOTD in March, is the third member to leave the group in recent months. Johnson will reportedly perform his first show with Since The Flood on Sunday, January 27th at the Waterfront Tavern in Holyoke, MA.

As previously reported, drummer Josh Kulick quit the band earlier this month and guitarist Chris Anderson quit the band back in October of 2007.

Among the group's admirers are Howard Jones from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, who asked to manage the band soon after their inception, and Trevor Phipps from UNEARTH, who released their debut album, "Valor & Vengence", on Ironclad Recordings in 2003.

Necro Leaves Sounds Of The Underground Tour

Self proclaimed "death rap" artist Necro has issued the follwing statement from his official Myspace:

"I decided to leave the tour collectively with my manager and booking agent (both tour organizers) because we felt the tour’s demographic was not receiving hip hop well. I was facing hostile, disrespectful crowds and was returning the same energy back ten-fold by being more aggressive than them.

It was making a lot of people in the tour crew nervous and there was concern someone might get hurt (NOT ME). It was also being suggested that maybe I tone down my live show and not antagonize the already antagonistic crowd. I couldn’t roll with that as it’s not my style. I was holding back enough as it is but there is a line. All the bands on the tour loved us and everyone behind the scenes knew we displayed major heart and never once got phased by the hostility. We finished every show with middle fingers up and a big "Fuck You" to the crowd.

I will make one thing clear for the haters: we NEVER got booed OFF the stage. Not once. Yes a ton of emo kids booed us at every show, but we had a twenty-five minute set every night and we stayed on stage for every minute of it, and we represented. Every show had at least 100 to 200 Necro fans in the pit tearing it up, and our meet and greets were incredible!

It’s just a shame these little kids are so close-minded. The majority of the hate was coming from mop top emo sixteen-year olds who have no clue who the originators of metal are, and didn’t respect my rest in peace chant to metal legends (Dime, Cliff, Chuck, Piggy, SOB).

As far as the tour organizers and I are concerned, you are my people so it’s all love and I’m thankful for the opportunity to prove I can murder it in the worst of situations. This actually did a lot for me and is just one move in many my team will make to blow Necro up"

Since The Flood Singer Departs

Since The Flood vocalist Chuck Bouley has amicably left the group. According to the band, "Chuck has decided that the touring life is not for him. We love him and wish him the best, and STF will never be quite the same without him."

The Massachusetts hardcore band now seeks a replacement, stating:

"We're not quite ready to hang it up, as we have a great label, booking agent, and some serious tours scheduled. With that all said, you all know what we sound like and anyone who has seen us live knows that we demand an energetic pressence on stage. If you feel like you can fill Chuck's massive shoes, we'd like to hear from you. Here's the deal; we'll be home June 3rd and or 4th to hold auditions in Western MA. If you want to try out, you'll have to make your way there on your own or come up with some way to try out another way. You'll have to prepare two songs, "Valor and Vengeance," and "Gone Tomorrow" and have them down perfectly. You know what Chuck sounds like. Don't bother if you sound like Lord Worm. We leave for tour no later than the 7th of June and will be back no sooner than July 17th. Things are still up in the air and the tour will more than likely get extended as far as August. You have to be available for this time period plus almost endless touring in the future. We're all easy going and hardworking. We expect the same from you. We'll make exceptions to any of these rules if you're the right guy for the job. Just email us."

This record is dedicated to those who truly embrace this culture and realize that these are more than words on a page."
