Knifeworld Releasing New Album
London-based psychedelic octet Knifeworld is extremely pleased to announce third studio album "Bottled Out Of Eden" is due for release via InsideOut Music on April 22nd, 2016.
The follow-up to 2014's "The Unravelling," new album "Bottled Out Of Eden" is a subtler but more immediate record than any other Knifeworld release. At times beautiful and uplifting & at others melancholic, haunting and otherworldly, the album remains surprisingly accessible. Frontman Kavus Torabi had this to say:
"After 'The Unravelling,' which took over a year to complete, we deliberately wanted to change the variables. To alter the approach in order to make something different. I love The Unravelling but it was a very difficult record to make. Rather than spending so long in the studio, constructing, arranging, recording, re-recording and adding layers of additional instruments and noises, this time round we wanted something rawer, more live sounding."
Torabi continues: "Once we had the title, 'Bottled Out Of Eden', the songs came very quickly. For me, the title has three possible interpretations and all the songs fall under at least one of them. I always like to have a definite theme, it allows you to map out the territory making it far easier to identify which songs that will or won't fit with the overarching idea giving the record a far greater cohesion. This week marks the North American release of Knifeworld's new album "The Unravelling," and to celebrate, the band is launching the new track "Send Him Seaworthy." Check it out below. The band had this to say about the release:
"The wrong planets aligned, eight collective chakras began spinning in reverse and He Who Walks Backwards stumbled forward again. Our second album, The Unravelling, has birthed itself and that which was left has become right. Too right. We will be performing selections from both this album and older troubles in the U.K. this September. We hope you might join us. Somehow." More...
Knifeworld Streaming "Destroy The World We Love"
Knifeworld will be releasing second full-length album "The Unravelling" on the 21st of July, 2014 in Europe and July 22nd in the U.S.
The eight-piece band led by Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Gong) is extremely excited about the follow-up to 2009's "Buried Alone: Tales of Crushing Defeat" and today reveals a brand new track titled "Destroy The World We Love." Check it out below, thanks to The Quietus.
Kavus had this to say about the song: "Destroy The World We Love is one of those rare songs that seemed to take on a trajectory all of its own and sort of wrote itself. Initially I wanted to do a Glam stomp, something that had a kind of T. Rex and Roxy Music vibe, so we dressed it up in stack-heels and satin, sprinkled glitter all over its beautiful face and hung up a mirror ball, but as we were tying a feather boa around its neck, it started to grow wings, hooves and a tail and bolted off. It was as much all we could do to saddle up and follow in its wake.
"We had no idea where it was going, no one could, nonetheless it charged on through towns painted in strange vibrating colours where no man dare speak their name and where all the birds fly upside down. When it finally got to wherever the hell it ended up we took off our goggles, looked back and realised we'd inadvertently spawned a sort of psychedelic Bohemian Rhapsody. That'll be the single then, we thought."
The full album's track listing is as follows:
1. I Can Teach You How To Lose A Fight
2. The Orphanage
3. Send Him Seaworthy
4. Don't Land On Me
5. The Skulls We Buried Have Regrown Their Eyes
6. Destroy The World We Love
7. This Empty Room Once Was Alive
8. I'm Hiding Behind My Eyes More...
Knifeworld Announces New Album Release
Knifeworld is very pleased to announce the release of second full-length album "The Unravelling" on the 21st of July in Europe and July 22nd in the U.S. This will be the band's first for new label-home InsideOutMusic. The eight-piece band led by Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Gong) comments:
"In the summer of 2008, around the time I was mixing what would become Knifeworld's debut album, Buried Alone: Tales Of Crushing Defeat, my dear friend, musical genius, and leader of Cardiacs, Tim Smith collapsed, a few hours after attending a My Bloody Valentine gig, with what appears to have been both a stroke and a heart attack in the early hours of the morning having phoned me to tell me he was coming over to stay.
"Cardiacs had, for the previous five years, been my life or at least a very big part of it. Tim, however, had been my best friend for the previous fifteen or so.
"Since his collapse Tim has required 24 hour care and is still unable to go home. This event and those that followed inspired what would become The Unravelling, the all too real epiphany that at a certain point life becomes a process of continual loss.
"In the years following this awful episode, hopelessly grim, sad and heartbreaking events seemed to unfold all around me. Friends were diagnosed with incurable diseases, sectioned and imprisoned. Or worse. My once happy, enlightened, beautiful circle of radical, free-thinking freaks seemed to be collapsing and falling apart. I didn't think the joy or craziness would come to an end. My previous experience of tragedy and bad luck seemed marginal in the light of what seemed to be occurring. Yet, somehow, in spite of it all everyone just gets through it. The alternative is unthinkable.
"I'd never channelled 'real stuff' so overtly into my music before. Although previously most of my lyrics had been autobiographical, I had always put in enough obfuscation and ambiguity to render them a little more abstract. I suppose I took a dim view of being so blatant, it felt a bit like crying in public. More...
Knifeworld Inks Deal With InsideOutMusic
InsideOutMusic is very pleased to announce the signing of Knifeworld for the release of forthcoming new album "The Unravelling" later this summer.
The eight-piece band led by Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Gong) has been working on the follow-up to 2009's "Buried Alone: Tales of Crushing Defeat."
The band had this to say about the signing: "Knifeworld are very happy to be signing to InsideOut. Our forthcoming album, The Unravelling, is so close to completion we are terrified to mention it. Nonetheless it will be the first Knifeworld album to feature the full psychedelic majesty of our eight piece line-up.
"It must go off like an atom bomb in your broken hearts. An atom bomb that will make a mockery of all you hold dear. An atom bomb of love. InsideOut hold the trigger and we've dared them to press it. Press it real good now."
Label-head Thomas Waber added: "It's great to welcome Knifeworld to the InsideOutMusic family, and there is no doubt that 'The Unravelling' will prove to be something very special indeed." More...
