Bat Releases "Revenge Of The Wolf" Music Video
This past Friday, Richmond, Virginia metal-punk trio Bat welcomed the release of their second full-length album "Under The Crooked Claw" via Nuclear Blast Records. The brainchild of Municipal Waste guitarists Ryan Waste & Nick Poulos, Bat ascended from the underground a decade ago on a dark, leather-winged trajectory. The band delivers their own blood-spattered horror leaning heavily on the dirtier side of speed metal.
To celebrate the release, Bat offers fans the single, "Revenge Of The Wolf." The band once again returned to horror director Norman Cabrera to create the perfect visuals. The video included cinematography completed by Rob Lucas, editing handled by Mike Mendez, and Maya Kay was responsible for the production.
Ryan Waste states: "The wait is finally over as our creation takes flight, sinking its claws into the airwaves. It was a true test of our will, caging this beast for what felt like an eternity. I’d especially like to thank my bandmates, Nick and Chris for their hard work and patience through the entire process. We wrote these songs during grim times and their ferocity is certainly emulated by that. Unleashing these tales of terror gives me a sense of fulfillment that is completely unmatched."
Chris Marshall states: "I still bear the scars from The Claw."
Nick Poulos comments: "From note to note, speed on speed, to say I’m proud of Under The Crooked Claw is an absolute understatement. We poured our hearts, minds, and souls into this record and I’m so proud of what we accomplished. My favorite BAT offering to date!" More...

Bat Reveals New Album Details
Richmond, Virginia metal-punk trio Bat has been delivering their own blood-spattered horror since ascending from the underground a decade ago on a dark, leather-winged trajectory. The brainchild of Municipal Waste guitarists Ryan Waste & Nick Poulos, Bat leans heavily on the dirtier side of speed metal. On May 17th, the band welcomes the release of their second full-length album "Under The Crooked Claw" via Nuclear Blast Records.
Jam-packed with tight, concise songs loaded with punchy choruses and lightning-laced leads, each of the 13 tracks offers a new horror short story mixing the perfect blend of heavy metal, punk, and rock ‘n’ roll or as Waste coins it "primitive heavy speed."
The band offers the first single entitled, "Rite For Exorcism" along with a video clip directed by Norman Cabrera, produced by Maya Kay, and cinematography by Rob Lucas at Wolfpack Studios. You can check it out below.
Bat's Ryan Waste states: "This record came together during dark times and its aggression is surely a reflection of that. Nick, Chris, and I hammered out song after song in a grimy, mold-ridden warehouse, turning our anger at the state of the world into what became 'Under the Crooked Claw'. To set the tone for the album, I called upon legendary Italian horror maestro Fabio Frizzi to compose an intro, just before Bat’s raw force assaults your ears. While simultaneously working on a heavy metal horror script with Norman Cabrera, I shared some of the new BAT songs with him. With our shared taste in film and vision, we devised two video concepts for the upcoming record based on my lyrics. The first offering is our twist on a tale of an exorcism gone awry, that Norman completely nailed to the cross." More...
Bat Signs With Nuclear Blast Records
Richmond, Virginia metal-punk trio Bat has been delivering their own blood-spattered horror since ascending from the underground a decade ago on a dark, leather-winged trajectory. Today the band forged a new partnership and home at Nuclear Blast Records
Bat's Ryan Waste states, "After working the last 14 years with Nuclear Blast we’ve become family at this point. There was no question in my mind to bring Bat under their wing when the time was right. We’re thrilled to join forces and plan to push it even harder with the support of the label. You can expect more touring worldwide, along with new music and visuals as early as this March. Until then, stay heavy and beware of the Bat!"
Nuclear Blast American Label Manager & A&R Tommy Jones comments: "Heavy Metal and horror have been synonymous in our counter-culture since well before Alice Cooper sang about the 'Man Behind the Mask' and Dokken stated they 'Don’t wanna dream no more…' Through decades of this marriage, and with the influence of a snaggletoothed warpig, Bat was spawned. We have such a great relationship with Municipal Waste it made sense to check out Ryan and Nick’s other ripper of a band, Bat. I am excited to open the window at NB and let the Bat fly in! Beware the Bat y'all!"

Bat Releases First Music Video
Speed metal cult Bat has premiered a new video online for the thematically appropriate "Beware of the Bat," which can be seen below. Originally appearing on the "Wings of Chains" album released through Hells Headbangers, "Beware of the Bat" is the group's very first video - and is an authentically creepy slice of classic horror.
Says vocalist/bassist Ryan Waste, "We’ve always been fans of classic horror films, so this is Bat's first stab at making a creature feature of our own. It wouldn’t be possible without the talented Margaret Rolicki, who fabricated the Bat costume and brought our moniker to life.
"She did an incredible job and continues to thrive in the Richmond art community, working with GWAR amongst her other artistic endeavors. We called upon another fellow Richmondite who lives and bleeds horror, our one-man army Mr. Jim Stramel, to film this on the fly. All we had to mention was 'monster in abandoned graveyard' and he was in. More...

Bat Unveils New Album
Hells Headbangers has set June 10th as the international release date for Bat's debut album, "Wings of Chains." This American speed metal cult has built up a considerable reputation the last couple years on the back of the "Primitive Age" demo and subsequent "Cruel Discipline" single as well as tireless treks across the United States.
Says bassist / vocalist Ryan Waste, "We are louder and prouder than ever with the completion of 'Wings of Chains,' our debut full-length. It's been a long time coming, so we decided to put every song we've written to date in a heavier package as one recording. I just finished solely tracking all the vocals for the album in my house, which was quite a milestone for me. Nick and Felix crushed it as usual, and it's safe to say these songs showcase BAT in our true live-sounding element." More...
Bat Finishes Work On New Album
Today the filth-bangin' heavy metal squadron Bat announce the completion of a debut album for Hells Headbangers, titled "Wings of Chains," which is slated for release during the first quarter of 2016.

I just finished solely tracking all the vocals for the album in my house, which was quite a milestone for me. Nick and Felix crushed it as usual, and it’s safe to say these songs showcase Bat in our true live-sounding element. To commemorate the wrap up of the album, we’re unleashing the cover artwork today, illustrated by our German brother Chris from Infected Arts.”
Ryan Waste continues: "Before we mix and master the record, we’re heading out west to play some live gigs around the Frost and Fire Festival in Ventura, California. Bat Announces "Batbreaker" Tour With Chainbreaker
Bat, the supergroup featuring Municipal Waste guitarist Ryan Waste on bass/vocals, former DRI drummer Felix Griffin and Volture guitarist Nick Poulos, announced a summer run of live dates with Toronto's Chainbreaker (on select dates) dubbed "Batbreaker." The tour is set to commence on August 22nd in Brooklyn, New York and cover ten cities with the final in its home base of Richmond, Virginia on September 5th. Bat's debut EP "Primitive Age" is available as a "name your price" download via Bandcamp at this location.
Ryan Waste commented: "After an insane response from our first gigs with Satan and the Tankcrimes Brainsqueeze Fest, we have been itching to hit the road for real. All it took was an invite to the Canadian cult festival, Wings Of Metal in Montreal, to get BAT back in flight. Since we were heading up to the Great White North we decided to bring along our brothers in nastiness, Chainbreaker. Our styles of primitive speed metal go hand-in-hand and we're all old friends so it will surely be a blast. These will also be the first shows for BAT in almost all of the cities from New York to Chicago so they must not be missed."
Chainbreaker's Al Positions added: "Greasy sewer sucking street metallers, Chainbreaker, are set to lose the confines of our homeland like a bad bowel accident and leak down all over the United States on a tour with our lewd comrades in perversion, BAT. We promise to disgust and stimulate all who are willing to bend over and get plowed by our smelly, slippery, sexual sound. Defiant of the trends, iconoclast to your weak moral code, Chainbreaker stands on guard to offend all norms and unsuspecting strays while fulfilling the true underground's every lethal desire."
