Housecore Horror Film Festival 2015 Day Three
Day Three of Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Festival in San Antonio, Texas started like day two at the Holiday Inn where the film portion of the festival took place. Just like the last two years, I made sure to watch at least one film. It’s difficult to take in a film as there are so many great bands to catch, but having to be over at the hotel for interviews, I figured get there early and catch a film, so I checked the schedule and saw that a showing of Gwar’s home video “Skulhedface” was playing. Don Drakulich, aka Sleazy P. Martini, provided commentary.
Short (the heals he wears as Sleazy really boast his height, not to mention his ten-pound hair piece) and wearing glasses and short brown hair, Drakulich started the film off with a slide show presentation where he talked about how he created many of Gwar’s costumes with the help of other members. In fact, most of the celebrities were his creations. He detailed how most of the characters/props were made with silicon. He also told how the story of how Sleazy P. Martini, Gwar’s “fucking manager,” came to life. There were two Sleazys before him known as Sluggo P. Martini that didn’t work out. Tony Clifton and Jersey cops with disco hair were the inspiration for this character. He lent commentary on “Skulhedface,” a hilarious film based on the music of “This Toilet Earth,” that also starred Jello Biafra and Sabastian Bach. Drakulich left after the presentation and returned in full costume for fans to get autographs and pictures. More...

Easily its most maniacal bill yet, this year's music lineup includes King Diamond performing 1987 quintessential second full-length, "Abigail," in its harrowing entirety, Claudio Simonetti's Goblin doing a live score of George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, every member of Down playing in their own separate bands (Superjoint, Eyehategod, Corrosion Of Conformity, Honky and Gasmiasma) and so many more. King Diamond Added to Housecore Horror Film Fest
This November, Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore Horror Fest will celebrate its third year of audio and visual bedlam. Set to commence in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater (201 E Commerce St.) on November 13th -15th, 2015, the horror-themed film and metal gala promises to be louder, gorier and more bludgeoning than ever before boasting two film-screening rooms, multiple vendors, special artist signings throughout the weekend and what's morphing into one of the most debilitating lineups of the year!
Already stacked with a crushing bill that includes Agoraphobic Nosebleed performing their second show ever, Corrosion Of Conformity featuring Pepper Keenan, Claudio Simonetti's Goblin doing a live score of George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, Superjoint, Eyehategod, Nails, Crowbar, Dropdead, Autopsy, Poison Idea, and so many others, the gatekeepers of Housecore Horror Fest today welcome the additions of thrash metal icons, Exodus, veteran death metal legion, Incantation, apocalyptic hardcore punk unit, Gasmiasma, atmospheric drone doom duo, Muscle And Marrow and theatrical heavy metal legend King Diamond whose performance will feature 1987 quintessential second full-length, Abigail, in its harrowing entirety! As an added bonus, Gwar's fabled Sleazy P. Martini will also be attending the annual gathering as a special guest!
And the awesome won't stop there. The fest has expanded the range of its grotesqueries, with a second stage located just steps away from the Aztec Theater. The Korova, at 107 E. Martin St. in San Antonio, will play host to even MORE bands throughout the weekend. Stay tuned for additional band announcements for The Korova in the coming weeks.
Comments Anselmo: "I am beyond excited to announce that the mighty King Diamond will be attacking the house on Friday the 13th at the Housecore Horror Festival. All hail the King."
Adds Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor, who's shaping this year's HHF lineup alongside Anselmo: "It's been a lot of fun piecing together this lineup with Philip. It's gonna be a wild one, so get your tickets while you still can!" More...

Goblin Rebirth Signs With Relapse
Relapse Records is extremely proud to announce the signing of Italian progressive instrumentalists Goblin Rebirth.
A new incarnation inspired by the legendary Goblin (the 1970's horror-synth / film score icons responsible for such soundtracks as Suspiria, Zombi and Tenebre) Goblin Rebirth came together after a short-lived reformation of the original group in 2009.
The new group contains the rhythm section of the original Goblin (drummer Agostino Marangolo and bassist Fabio Pignatelli, who both played on the classic soundtracks to Zombi/Dawn of the Dead, Suspria, Profondo Rosso/Deep Red and more), with the addition of Aidan Zammit and Danilo Cherni on keyboards and Giacomo Anselmi on guitar.
The band formed in 2010 and started with a live repertoire of Goblin hits and some unusual songs from more obscure Goblin soundtracks. The band members soon began creating new material and decided to look to the future, creating songs that grew out of an organic process, through a combination of individual compositions and jam sessions.
Now the first new recordings from Goblin Rebirth will see the light of day via Relapse in the Spring of 2015. The group's debut album was mixed and produced by Fabio Pignatelli, and recorded in Rome at Greta’s Sound, Zamusic Studios and Cherni Studio. The drums were recorded in Trani by Ciccio "Frums" Dettole at Scuola Sul Mare. The album was mastered by Bob Fix at BobFixMastering.
The group commented on the new material: "It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to do an album that in some way evolved from the original Goblin sound but also took a new direction reflecting the personalities of all the band members. The pieces all fell together to make up a story that loosely describes the destruction and rebirth of a strange creature. This is itself a loose metaphor referring to the band history." More...

Housecore Sucessfully Blends Horror and Metal
Housecore Horror Film and Heavy metal festival masterminds, Corey Mitchell and Philip H. Anselmo brought Austin, Texas a rare entertainment opportunity, packaged in human flesh, marred by celluloid cigarette burns--a four-day, multi-stage, multi-tent, multi-everything horror-movie festival. Industry people arrived from all around the world to help support this lofty endeavor.
The gorier the better as many of the major stars of the film portion of the festival had participated in legendary blood spillers such as the "Nekromantik" film series (Director Jörg Buttgereit ), "Coffin Joe" (Director José Mojica Marins ) and "Friday the 13th." Ari Lehman made film history when Jason Voorhees finally sprung to life after the murder of his mother. Lehman attended the festival not only as a film celebrity, but as a musician. Nefarious of Macabre joined Lehman on stage in his First Jason band to perform campy horror metal songs about that guy in the hockey mask. More...
