Black Star Riders Posts Album Trailer

A few weeks ago, Black Star Riders announced third studio album, "Heavy Fire," is set for release via Nuclear Blast Entertainment on February 3rd, 2017.

The band has now revealed the first video trailer in which frontman Ricky Warwick explains the writing process behind this forthcoming album and looks forward to the band's March 2017 UK tour. When discussing the writing of "Heavy Fire," Warwick comments:

"Myself and Damon Johnson work really well together. We went to our manager's house in Southern California - he was away for a week so Damon flew in from Nashville and I drove down from my place in LA and we hung out there for a week. I brought in a bunch of ideas and lyrics and Damon brought in some stuff too. By the end of the four or five days we had ten or twelve solid songs together, which was great. We work very quickly together because we're always very well prepared and we're always writing individually." More...

Black Star Riders Unveils "Heavy Fire"

Nuclear Blast is pleased to announce the release of Black Star Riders third studio album, “Heavy Fire," on January 27th. The band will support the album with a full UK and Eire tour in March 2017. The band also issued a lyric video for the new song "When the Night Comes In," which can be viewed in the player below. Pre-orders can be made at this location.

The band previous album, "The Killer Instinct," was released in 2015 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to score multiple radio playlists. A solid year of worldwide touring culminated in December 2015 in an UK arena tour alongside Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

2016 saw the band return to the studio with “The Killer Instinct’s” producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, The Foo Fighters, Mastodon), at his studio just outside Nashville. The resultant album is Black Star Riders most accomplished work to date. From the immediate riffs of album opener “Heavy Fire” to the instant hooks of first single “When The Night Comes In," from the dirty bass groove of "Thinking About You Could Get Me Killed" to the familiar and trademark dual guitars of Gorham and Johnson on "Testify Or Say Goodbye," this is an album that will further cement BSR’s reputation as one of the world premiere rock acts.

"Angst, passion, power, glory, love, truth, lies, loyalty, questions that begged to be answered. There's a guitar army coming…and it's bringing the 'Heavy Fire'" – Ricky Warwick (vocals), Black Star Riders.

"Not many new bands get to record three albums these days. Without doubt this is BSR'S best album so far. We had a great time recording it and can't wait to play the new songs live on tour in March." – Scott Gorham (guitars), Black Star Riders More...

Black Star Riders Announces New Album

"The Killer Instinct" will be the name of the second studio album by hard rock super group Black Star Riders, due out in North America in early 2015 on Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

“Life's not fair, never has been, never will,” states Black Star Riders vocalist & songwriter Ricky Warwick. “Sometimes you have to live with a killer instinct just to survive in the ongoing pursuit of happiness… because nobody can do for you what you should be doing for yourself.”

After touring the globe in support of the 2013 debut album "All Hell Breaks Loose," the band entered the studio in Nashville, Tennessee this past October with heralded producer Nick Raskulinecz to record this sophomore release.

“Nick Raskulinecz came riding out of the sunset like a Viking warrior, with his record collection and arsenal of killer guitars and amplifiers and proved to be the world class producer we had heard so much about. Indeed, the rumors are all true,” shares Black Star Riders guitarist & songwriter Damon Johnson. “There's no doubt that Ricky [Warwick] and I had written a sizable number of songs, but Nick patiently walked through the full song list with the entire band and made sure we focused on the material to best represent Black Star Riders in 2015.” More...

Black Star Riders Parting Ways With Bassist

Black Star Riders today announces the departure of bass player Marco Mendoza after the band’s current U.S. tour, ending June 22nd.

Marco, a founding member of Black Star Riders, has decided to pursue other projects after potential conflicts in schedules. His replacement will be Robbie Crane (formerly of RATT and Lynch Mob).

Guitarist Scott Gorham comments: “I am very sad to see Marco go. We have been together in a band now for almost 20 years and Marco is my brother and we wish him well for the future. It’s an amicable parting of ways and we all respect that Marco wants to do other projects outside of Black Star Riders and there just isn’t time to do both.”

Vocalist Ricky Warwick adds: “Marco will always be part of the BSR family and a true friend of ours. We are very happy to introduce Robbie Crane to everyone as the new BSR bass player. The guy killed the audition and we can’t wait to get on stage with him on our Euro run starting mid July and then of course in the studio in the autumn for the recording of the second Black Star Riders record.”

Marco Mendoza issued this statement: “I loved my time in Black Star Riders and want to thank all the fans for making the last year on road so successful. I am sorry to be leaving the band but I feel it’s time for me to pursue other avenues, some of which I have already been working with, all of which I am very excited about. I wish the guys all success in the future and I am very happy that my friend Robbie Crane will continue to blaze with BSR.”

But exciting things are ahead with the addition of veteran bassist Robbie Crane, who states: “I am very excited to be a part of the Black Star Riders family. As a long time fan of their music, I am thrilled to be a part of the band.” More...

Black Star Riders To Record New Album

2013 saw the release of the Black Star Riders debut album, "All Hell Breaks Loose," and the band also toured throughout Europe and Scandinavia supporting the release.

Now it is time for the guys to continue with this momentum and create a follow-up album. Scott Gorham sums it up: "The fan response has been better then we could have hoped. I haven’t had this much fun in years!"

When it comes to the team behind the soundboard, Black Star Riders decided to change things up this time around. Taking over the production reins will be Def Leppard front man Joe Elliott. Adding to the dream team will be long time Leppard sound guru Ronan McHugh.

Ricky Warwick chimes in on the reason Joe was tapped for this album: “Joe Elliott's passion, enthusiasm for music, as a fan, artist and friend is unquestionable and Ronan McHugh is a phenomenal engineer. Personally having worked with these guys before, it was a no brainer when they said they would like to produce the new BSR album. We are confident that this will be a huge leap forward in the evolution of BSR.” More...
