Chicago melodic death metallers, Starkill have posted a new music video for "Sword, Spear, Blood, Fire," taken from last year's debut album, "Fires of Life" (see review here). The video was directed by Alan Collins of Elegy Films and can be viewed below.
Singer/Guitarist Parker Jameson commented on the video: "Check our new video for Sword, Spear, Blood, Fire. We thought it'd be cool to release this video now, in April of 2014, to commemorate the one year anniversary of Fires of Life being released."
Jameson went on to update on the band's plans for a follow up album: "Additionally, we are excited to announce that we will be entering Electrowerks Studio with producer, Chuck Macak (Oceano, letlive) this May to begin recording the next Starkill album. With most of the pre-production already done, we can say that this new material is our darkest and strongest to date. We've really found and nailed our signature style on this album. We can't wait to share it with the world. In the meantime, enjoy the new video, and keep an eye out for new updates!"

Having just received a “Best Album” award by Metal Hammer, Amorphis can mark the year as a true success and is now gearing up to return to the road this fall in support of new album "Circle" (reviewed here).
On Monday, August 26th, Carvin's Hollywood store will host its first-ever guitar exposition from 5-6PM.
Presented by Century Media Records, Dunlop Manufacturing, and Cleartone Strings, "Shreds of Insanity" will feature performances by four young guitar virtuosos on the rise in metal with special guest Francesco Artusato of All Shall Perish.
Participants will include Rick Di Marco of Death Division, Dave Silver of Savage Messiah, Parker Jameson of Starkill, and Jake Dreyer of White Wizzard.
As the name suggests, these shredders will demonstrate skills in various forms, including head-to-head solo duels. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions and win prizes such as a pair of tickets to see Wintersun, Arsis, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Starkill that night at House of Blues Sunset Strip, a free subscription to Decibel Magazine, and more goodies from Century Media, Nuclear Blast, and Earache Records.

The last place I ever thought I would see a show was in the middle of the campus of the “elite of society” – Harvard University. Though not confirmed, I had heard that this particular show was the first metal event at the newly opened Sinclair club, which was directly in the heart of the college. I had made the 114 mile trek to the area countless times, however, I don’t recall the traffic being this annoying. When I went to see Wintersun and Eluveitie at Royale in downtown Boston, the trip was nuisance free. But, it was Friday night, and stupidity on the road was nothing new. The area was wrought with college kids, yuppie preps and artsy types, so it was a pleasure to walk around in my Sodom – “Epitome of Torture” shirt, its double meaning was painfully clear. The venue proved to be a rather loose, without any pushy asshole bouncers and the club itself had decent sound. If you have been to the upstairs part of The Palladium in Worcester, imagine it double the size with a much better stage (raised to where you can see), much better lighting and double the upstairs space where you can view the band from just above the floor crowd from all sides/angles. Chicago based Starkill (formerly Massakren) will be hitting the road next month in support of new album "Fires of Life," released earlier this year on Century Media Records (check out our review here).
Founding member Parker Jameson had this to say about the upcoming tour: "We're incredibly honored and excited to be touring North America with Wintersun, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Arsis. As fans of--and having been inspired by--all of these bands, we're glad to be part of the lineup and can't wait to share the stage with these guys."

Goremasters Aborted have cancelled their North American tour plans. In regards to this cancellation, front-man Sven de Caluwé comments:
"Unfortunately rumors are true. We were forced to pull out of our North American tour with Hypocrisy, Krisiun, and Arsis. Due to reasons beyond control, Hypocrisy was not able to receive US visas in time and had to pull out.
"We only found out 3 days ago and were sharing transport with Hypocrisy. Being this close to the start of tour, finding an affordable method of transportation and a driver was a near impossible task, making it impossible for us to still make it. We are extremely disappointed as we were very excited to make it back out to the US for our fans and share the stage on this great line-up.
"We had flights booked, visas processed, and everything was good to go, so when the news hit, it came as a shock. This cost us several thousands of dollars out of our own pockets and continuing would cost us even more money, which we simply don't have. We apologize to the fans and are already looking for a replacement tour in the near future.
"Krisiun and Arsis are still doing the tour, and we urge you all to still go and support them. All the bands here are victims in this of bureaucratic procedures, so no need to point fingers. We are all as broken by this as anyone else."
Brazil's Krisiun will now headline this North American trek with Arsis as direct support (Autumns End and Starkill will also play select shows). The newly revamped itinerary can be found here.
It was recently announced that Hypocrisy would have to miss the band's upcoming North American tour due to visa problems, but that Arsis, Krisiun, Autumns End, and Starkill would be continuing with the trek. Arsis has now checked in with the following update about the tour schedule:
"IMPORTANT: Updated tour schedule below. We need all the support we can get on this one, PLEASE check the list below for your city and come out to support Arsis and Krisiun and keep the metal touring circuit alive! We really appreciate it and can't wait to unleash the heaviest set we've ever played on you all!
"Promoters in Oakland, CA and Stafford, CT have cancelled. Trenton, NJ has been added. Some other shows have changed venues." More...
