Starkill Signs To Prosthetic Records

Chicago melodic death metal act Starkill has signed onto Prosthetic Records. The new album will be entitled "Shadow Sleep" and will be available on November 4th. The album will be issued right at the start of the upcoming North American tour with Dark Tranquility, Swallow the Sun and Enforcer (check out all the dates and information over here).

"This album was the culmination of many tours, new experiences and knowledge, and in our opinion, marks the starting point of where the true Starkill sound begins" exclaims vocalist and lead guitarist Parker Jameson. "We've finally found ourselves, our musical style and finally have access to all the musical tools we've ever wanted: two screamers, two male singers, and newly featured on this record, the addition of a female vocalist. This album marks a critical turning point for Starkill, and we are excited to be with Prosthetic Records for this new chapter."

Recorded and mixed at Electrowerks Recording with Chuck Macak (Fall of Troy, Oceano Letlive) while being sent for mastering by Troy Glessner (August Burns Red, Devin Townsend, Death Cab for Cutie), "Shadow Sleep" presents 13 tracks of melodic, majestic death metal reinforced by Jameson's over-the-top shredding paired with one of the tightest rhythm sections in the scene.

The album track list is as follows

1. Walk Through Fire
2. Burn Your World
3. Through The Darkness
4. Shadow Sleep
5. Cloudless
6. Piece of Paradise

Starkill Releases New Music Video

Chicago melodic death metal troupe Starkill has unleashed a brand new music video for the single "Breaking The Madness" taken from latest album, "Virus Of The Mind."

In addition to the new video and in continued pursuit of metal world domination, Starkill has also announced a headlining tour in China taking off November 1, 2015 in Shenyang. Vocalist / guitarist Parker Jameson had the following to say on the new video and recent tour announcement:

"Breaking the Madness is a video we entirely put together ourselves, doing a self-shot performance video filled with various shots of fan footage and lots of behind the scenes and backstage footage of us living our pre-show or homeless-Walmart-parking-lot-post-show lives. I kept the lyrics a little bit open-ended for individual interpretation, but the inspiration for me was about the not-so-glorious life of being a touring musician. It's hectic and unstable for sure, but as you can see in the video, Starkill is a family, and despite the unpredictability of the modern music world, we do enjoy every minute of it.

"We're also extremely excited to announce that this November, we will be embarking on our first tour of China, which is coincidentally also our first headlining tour. This was an opportunity we couldn't miss, and we are glad to be able to play for many new faces, as well as fans who probably thought it'd be much longer before they'd get to see us live.

"Unfortunately, due to previously locked in work commitments, Shaun won't be making the run, but will be resuming duties on bass with us after November. To fill his spot for the tour, we're glad to welcome our friend and longtime dedicated supporter of the Chicago and Illinois metal scene, Lisa Jablonski. We'll be bringing a really powerful set and are looking forward to shredding China apart." More...

Sepultura Plays 30-Year Anniversary Show in Austin

Just a few weeks ago I watched Cavalera Conspiracy perform Sepultura songs at the Texas Independence Festival on the very same stage at Empire Control Room & Garage. At that show I heard the former voice (Max) and beat maker (Igor) of Sepultura. With the band bearing the namesake Sepultura, I witnessed original bassist Paulo Jr. and longtime guitarist Andreas Kisser. Most of all I would be comparing vocalists. I saw Max Cavalera front the band during their vaunted “Chaos A.D.” album twenty-one years ago, so I was curious to hear Derrick Green’s fill in this position. More...
