Brutal Truth Announces European Tour Dates

Reunited seminal grindcore/extreme metal outfit BRUTAL TRUTH have announced a string of European dates this summer. Guitarist Danny Lilker commented, "Brutal Truth is totally psyched to play for the grindfreaks in Eastern Europe! We'll be hitting Serbia (at Castlefest) and Slovakia for the very first time so we'll be sure to fire up and give these people the most intense show of their lives! We also can't wait to play the With Full Force Festival over in Germany, where we'll be going onstage extremely late, so don't drink too fast, stay awake for the nocturnal grind attack!"

Drummer Rich Hoak adds, "we'll be including many new songs in the set for our shows this summer. The new songs will freak people out: louder, faster,
heavier and mosh pit tested!" More...

"This Comp Kills Fascists" Album Planned

In the tradition of the legendary "Cry Now, Cry Later" compilations of the 90's, PIG DESTROYER / AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED's Scott Hull has brought together some of the very best of today's underground grindcore, hardcore, and power violence bands for volume one of "This Comp Kills Fascists."

"This Comp Kills Fascists" features new and exclusive material from such bands as recently disbanded INSECT WARFARE, MAGRUDERGRIND, KILL THE CLIENT, WEEKEND NACHOS, A.S.R.A, and more. "This Comp Kills Fascists" also includes the first new material in almost ten years from legendary grinders BRUTAL TRUTH and AGENTS OF SATAN.

Hull says of the compilation: "There are a lot of killer young bands out there with the same kind of vibe that was around back when Chris Dodge was doing Slap-a-Ham and Fiesta Grande was the all-important mecca to which every underground hardcore listener would make a pilgrimage every year. It was a lot different back then. There was no MySpace. No Ebay. You actually had tapes and 7-inches that you found out about in photo copied fanzines. You had to hunt this shit down. It was about discovery. You'd seek out some obscure split or tape, and when you got them, a million small flyers for other releases fell out of the package. If you were a band, you didn't have photoshop. Kinko's was vital to your band's existence and you learned how to tear out logos, steal artwork, cut, paste, cut, paste..." "I don't pretend to be any kind of grand poobah for power violence, but it absolutely had its own sound, attitude, values...it was it's own scene. And it seems there are both a lot of bands from the day that are coming back (Despise You, Apartment 213, Crom), that never left (Lack of Interest, Hellnation), and a LOT of younger bands that are re-invigorating that scene altogether. This comp is generally about a theme, but somewhat spread across PV, grind, and other hardcore elements. It's supposed to be a tribute to the way the underground hardcore scene should always be. Fast, loose, ferociously independent, unpretentious, and fun."

"This Comp Kills Fascists" will see its North American release on July 8th, July 14th internationally.

Brutal Truth Announce European Shows

Reunited seminal grindcore/extreme metal outfit BRUTAL TRUTH will embark on a two-week European tour in February 2008. The trek will kick off on February 6 in Belgium before making stops in the UK, Netherlands, France, Spain and more.

BRUTAL TRUTH has finished writing about 10 new songs for its new album, which the band hopes to record later in the year. The group's bassist Danny Lilker previously described the new material as "some of the most intense shit we've ever written. After eight years it feels damn good to write some really psychotic grind, and we've jumped right into the deep end of the pool. Stylistically it seems to pick up where 'Sounds of the Animal Kingdom' left off with the main difference being we're also incorporating some of the old-school type riffing from 'Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses' but at a much faster tempo."

BRUTAL TRUTH last year reissued its heralded 1997 masterpiece "Sounds of the Animal Kingdom". The remastered and repackaged version comes complete with the preceding "Kill Trend Suicide" mini-CD (1996), bonus video footage in the form of the band's "Dead Smart" video, extensive and exhaustive liner notes from the band, and a foreword from "Choosing Death" author Albert Mudrian.

BRUTAL TRUTH tour dates:

Feb. 06 - Hasselt, Belgium - Muziek-o-drom
Feb. 07 - London, United Kingdom - Underworld
Feb. 08 - Sheffield, United Kingdom - Corporation
Feb. 09 - Glasgow, Scotland - Barfly
Feb. 10 - Rotterdam, Netherlands - De Baroeg
Feb. 11 - Strasbourg, France - Molodoi
Feb. 12 - Paris, France - La Locomotive
Feb. 13 - Durango, Spain - Plateruena
Feb. 14 - Corroios, Portugal - Cine Teatro de Corroios

Brutal Truth Begin Work On New Material

Reunited seminal grindcore / extreme metal outfit BRUTAL TRUTH have begun writing for a new full-length album. The troupe has crafted six brand new songs so far, each one faster and more brutal than the one before it.

BRUTAL TRUTH’s Danny Lilker elaborates: “We have 6 new songs in varying stages of evolution that are shaping up to be some of the most intense shit we’ve ever written. After 8 years it feels damn good to write some really psychotic grind, and we’ve jumped right into the deep end of the pool. Stylistically it seems to pick up where Sounds of the Animal Kingdom left off with the main difference being we’re also incorporating some of the old school type riffing from Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses but at a much faster tempo. We’ll keep you posted as things develop!”

BRUTAL TRUTH drummer Rich Hoak adds: “Help, I just can’t stop playing faster and faster and faster and faster!!! My arms are gonna fall off of my body!! Totally psyched for total fucking grind!!!”

BRUTAL TRUTH recently wrapped up a Summer European headlining tour that included a number of festival appearances (Hellfest, Graspop, Trashfest, Obscene Extreme, and more). The band says of the shows: “We’d like to thank every last freak that came out to see us at the European shows we did in June and July, it was an awesome tour thanks to you. Special thanks would go to Curby and crew from the Obscene Extreme Festival for welcoming us with grinding enthusiasm! Lookout for more BRUTAL TRUTH live shows to be announced soon!!”

Earache Artists Featured In Spanish Exhibition

A group of young Spanish artists is featuring music from Earache's extreme back catalog in an award-winning exhibition on show at the La Casa Encendida art gallery in Madrid, Spain. The exhibition, entitled "Ruidos, Silencios y la Trasgresion Mordaz. De Fluxus al Techno-Noise" ("Noises, Silences and the Biting Transgression. From Fluxus to Techno-Noise"), portrays a creative link between artists belonging to the Fluxus group and their fascination with out-there music. The music featuring in this exhibition includes soundbites from NAPALM DEATH's "Scum", A.C.'s "Everyone Should Be Killed", BRUTAL TRUTH's "Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses", SORE THROAT's "Disgrace to the Corpse of Sid" and O.L.D.'s "Old Lady Drivers".

The exhibition is beind held at the La Casa Encendia Arts Centre until September 9. More information is available at http://www.lacasaencendida.com/LCE/lceCruce/0,0,73537_0_73537_7466%24P1%3D16,00.html (note the article is in Spanish).

The artists involved claim to express rejection of traditional values and pursue an interest in noise within their work, particularly forming a connection between noise and transgression. With this in mind, soundbites from some of Earache's most grinding releases prove fitting to express the artists' ideas and visions.

Relapse Records To Re-Release Smaller Bands Debuts

On October 17th, Relapse Records will reissue BRUTAL TRUTH's Sounds of the Animal Kingdom and Kill Trend Suicide as a single release.

Metal tomes the world over heralded NYC's purveyors of organized chaos BRUTAL TRUTH the ultimate grindcore kings of the 90's. With the release of their post-Earache material Sounds of the Animal Kingdom and the preceding Kill Trend Suicide mini-CD, their time of complete global appreciation arrived. These four musical misanthropological javamen created recordings which left no jaw unfloored. Sounds... painted frightening, Pollock-esque lyrical images of human deevolution and technological dehumanization while twenty twisting tunes embodied the definitive musical expression of survival of the fittest! Kill Trend Suicide negated the entrenched musical trends of the day while confronting the downward spiral of our decaying society and the emotional suffocation of city life. Both recordings combined the most muscular attributes of grindcore, death metal, hardcore punk and rock. Here they are combined in one larger-than-life and specially priced package; remastered, repackaged, and replete with bonus video footage, extensive, exhaustive liner notes from each member of the band, and a forward from Choosing Death author Albert Mudrian.

On October 31st, Relapse Records will reissue INCANTATION's Onward to Golgotha.

Long heralded as one of the heaviest, sickest, and most uncompromising death metal bands in the world, New Jersey's INCANTATION has forged a legacy of brutality unmatched by any other American group. In 1992, the bands most celebrated lineup entered a then unknown Trax East Studios with a then unproven engineer Steve Evetts and emerged with Onward to Golgotha, the most dark and blasphemous death metal record to date. The combination of the inhuman growl of vocalist Craig Pillard, the ruthlessly savage aural malevolence, and pitiless anti-Christian attack was the ultimate musical sacrilege. Onward... redefined the bounds of brutality and blasphemy for the entire genre of death metal. This is absolute brutality!!! Includes a free DVD with three full live sets from the Onward...

After three infamously influential albums on Amphetamine Reptile Records and numerous tours with HELMET, NEUROSIS, and more, TODAY IS THE DAY moved to the grounds of the Relapse compound and unleashed it's most definitive album to date: the legendary Temple of the Morning Star. Reverend Steve Austin had overcome extreme band and personal turmoil, and his maniacally negative personal frustration shaped the 18 track service wholly deserving worship, contemplation, and reverence. Temple of the Morning Star indoctrinated tens of thousands of new members, strengthened the faith of the previously converted and was lavished with critical acclaim from the likes of Guitar, Thrasher, AP, Kerrang, Metal Hammer, Terrorizer and dozens more. Temple... was the most widely circulated TITD album, and over the span of a year it allowed the band to grow from an infamous fringe group to the wildly influential band of today. Temple of the Morning Star is an undisputed classic.
