Latest Godhunter News
Below is our complete Godhunter news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Godhunter has completed a new EP titled "Codex Narco," featuring a cast of fellow musicians hailing from the likes of Chrch, Demon Lung, Mountaineer, Thorne, Methra, and others. The EP will see release in May, with the proceeds from each format going to several important charities.
In September of 2015, after finishing a successful U.S. tour with Destroyer Of Light, several members of Godhunter amicably split with the band, simply moving on with more family commitments and unable to commit to regular touring.
Within weeks of the lineup shift, the rest of the band began writing new material together through internet conversations and individual recording sessions, as remaining guitarist/vocalist David Rodgers, drummer Andy Kratzenberg, and keyboardist Matthew Davis, currently reside on opposite ends of the country, spread across Washington, Arizona, and Georgia.
Shortly into the creation process, it was realized that the band was deviating from the usual lyrical content on our deteriorating world and current events, and for the first time was instead focusing towards inner darkness. Everyone in the band has experienced some dramatic personal trauma in recent years, a factor which is intensely reflected in the writing of "Codex Narco," where dependency, depression, and loss are the driving factors, resulting in the most personal and deeply introspective material the band has ever made.
After fleshing out the main skeleton of the new material, the remaining members of Godhunter secured additional elements from several of the band's closer personal and musical friends. Several of the contributors recorded a large amount of "Codex Narco" at Homewrecker Studios in Tucson, with the additional material recorded by each musician at their hometown studio of choice. With the impending release of Godhunter Vs. Destroyer Of Light: "Endsville" closing in, new tracks hailing from both sides of the split are now online.
One of the most psychedelic bottom-dredgers of Godhunter's platter from "Endsville," the track "Dull Knives, Weak Handshakes" is a fuzz-laden, tectonic crusher which sees the band's more stoner/doom metal influences taking over.
While Destroyer Of Light bears more of the same stoner/doom influences in the group's overall body of work, the LP-closing "Valley Of The Dead" surges with a morose and eventually scathing vibe than much of the rest of the release.
Combined, the two tracks offer vast insight into what the mighty "Endsville" release encapsulates. Listen in below. More...
As the massive split double-12" album "Endsville" from Godhunter and Destroyer of Light grows closer to release at the end of July, Godhunter just issued an official video for one of the split tracks.
Godhunter brings the "Cassandra Complex" psalm to life through a new video below, with an opening cameo from everybody's favorite fundie Pat Robertson. The grim but groove-laden doom metal thunder is delivered through an incredibly brutal barrage of footage capturing our violent society in action.
Created by Frank Huang (Metal Injection's Pit Full Of Shit), the completely NSFW new video is available below and is pretty much guaranteed to make you feel worse about the world you live in.

Godhunter and Amigo The Devil present "The Outer Dark," the first recorded collaboration between the downtrodden sludge/metal perpetrators and banjo-strumming murderfolk soloist, which will see release on Valentine's Day.
The morose two-song 7" bears a heart-wrenching original track named "Weeping Willow" leading things off on the A-side, and a stark rendition of Nirvana's "Something In The Way" on the B-side, and the whole thing showcasing both acts in an entirely new way.
Now just a week from its morose public destination, The Obelisk has exclusively premiered a new video for the A-side ballad, which can be seen below. The video was created by Frank Huang, diehard videographer for Metal Injection's Pit Full Of Shit live video column and more. More...
The Compound and Battleground Records are preparing for the early 2015 release of "The Outer Dark," a collaborative 7" from Tucson's Godhunter and Miami's Amigo The Devil.
Today Noisey.Vice.com has premiered the collective's homage to Nirvana with the B-side cover of "Something In The Way." Give it a listen below.
With an ominous, acoustic, folk/Western musical theme far removed from Godhunter's abrasive hardcore/crust-influenced sludge tones, here the quintet is joined by one Danny Kiranos, a.k.a. Amigo The Devil, who supplies soaring vocals and ethereal theremin contributions to the two-song 7".
Delivered at 45RPM on quality black wax for maximum clarity, the A-side's "Weeping Willow" is a fully original, ill-omened ballad from the collective, while the B-side is a bleak rendition of Nirvana's "Something In The Way."
The record was recorded in multiple sessions during the Summer of 2014 at Arcane Digital Studios in Chandler, Arizona, and was produced, mixed and mastered by Ryan Butler. "The Outer Dark" will see release on Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2015. More...

A collaboratively-released effort between Godhunter's own Battleground Records and Earsplit PR's label, The Compound, "GH/0ST:S" bears nearly thirty-five minutes of brand new material, each leading off with a mammoth original track and followed by a more serene and experimental track bearing the "ghosts" theme.

"City Of Dust," the debut full-length release from Arizona's anarcho-sludge faction Godhunter, is now less than two weeks from deliverance.
The fifty-minute politically-antagonizing concept album unleashing the band's most musically diverse and lyrically thought-provoking anthems yet. Today you can hear the new track "Snake Oil Dealer" below, courtesy of Noisey.Vice.com. The following press release was also issued about the stream:
"Killer reactions to 'City Of Dust' are showing up from around the globe, Godhunter's gritty but moody blend of harsh crust/punk persuasion to their craft a welcome change of pace from some of the more practiced contemporary deliveries of sludge metal. Among the stoned-out dirges on the ever-morphing tectonic surge of City Of Dust, one of the instant stand-out tracks is the fourth of the album's eight; the venomous 'Snake Oil Dealer.'
"Uncoiling over nearly seven and-a-half slow-burning minutes, the agony of the band's tonal crush is soaked with some of the most ethereal Moog-driven atmospherics of the album, in addition bearing some of the members' brutally-honest, confrontational views on their home state's governmental downfalls.
"The band released a statement on the lyrical basis of the song, aimed at some of the specific politicians, bills and propaganda they feel are deliberately to blame in recent years, some of which has been posted alongside an exclusive listen to the track via Vice Magazine's music channel, Noisey."
