Civil War Uploads "Oblivion" Lyric Video

Before dropping their fourth album, Swedish power metal outfit Civil War – featuring former members of Sabaton – invite listeners to join them on the battlefield with "Oblivion." The track features far Eastern sounds of another world, combined with strong vocals and guitar riffs. Swedish power metal veterans Civil War – featuring former members of Sabaton – drop another martial power-anthem with their newest single "Battle Of Life," beginning with synthesizer elements that lead into the band’s epic power metal trademark with a catchy chorus. The lyrics deal with inner conflicts and war – focusing on changing one’s perspective, conquering fears and calling on one’s inner strength. Civil War Reveals New Album Details

Swedish historical power metal force Civil War – founded by former members of Sabaton – returns with 10 new wartime anthems on their new album, "Invaders," out via Napalm Records on June 17, 2022. Detailing harrowing stories of sorrow and tales of turbulent triumph from around the globe, as well as human nature itself, the album marks the band’s first with masterful frontman Kelly Sundown Carpenter and formidable shredder Thobbe Englund (ex-Sabaton).

"Invaders" grips with riveting accounts, ranging from Viking invasions and the greed of powerful nations to legendary Native American battles and magical Arthurian fantasy – all amid a profusion of enthrallingly dynamic vocals, epic soundscapes and impressive, technical instrumentals.

In celebration of this announcement, Civil War has delivered the first single and title track off of Invaders. The song "Invaders" is a powerful anthem with intense riffs and an epic chorus, telling of the legendary Native American victory at the Battle of the Wabash. After unexpectedly parting ways with vocalist Patrik Johansson in December, Civil War just issued this announcement about bringing on a new singer:

Civil War Posts Year End Message

After splitting with vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson earlier this week, Civil War has now posted this year-end message online:

"2016 has been a year of changes to say the least. A lot of people that have influenced us in many ways has left this world, and it's very possible that people that will influence us in the future have been born.

"Also for us there have been changes, but now we're facing new year. A year with new challenges. When we wake up tomorrow we'll start our mission on finding a new singer for real by starting with sending out audition songs.

Civil War Splits With Vocalist

After just announcing an upcoming tour with Nightmare, vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson has unexpectedly parted ways with Civil War. The band comments:

"Good evening to you all! As some of you probably already noticed our vocalist Patrik suddenly left the band without any further notice. It came as a really big surprise to us all.

"We just had a meeting and we came to the conclusion that Civil War will go on! We'll take the holidays now to let all this sink in and then we'll start the hunt for a new singer after that.

Civil War Posts "Tombstone" Video

Following "The Killer Angels" from 2013 (reviewed here) and subsequent sophomore offering "Gods And Generals" last year, Swedish group Civil War is now about to unleash "The Last Full Measure."

While this third full-length isn't set to drop for a for more days, due out Friday, November 4th through Napalm Records, today a new music video from the album has come online.

Swedish metal generals Civil War will issue the third full length album "The Last Full Measure" on November 4th, 2016 via Napalm Records. Pre-order your copy now at this location.

In keeping with the Michael Shaara/Jeffrey Shaara inspired Civil War Trilogy novel series, the album's title is the culmination of "The Killer Angels" and "Gods & Generals."

The third studio album by the Swedish metal generals from Civil War will be titled "The Last Full Measure" and drops November 4th, 2016 via Napalm Records.

The heavy metal generals from Civil War just finished the production of a yet-untitled upcoming album, which was mixed and mastered by the mighty Jonas Kjellgren.

Sabaton Announces "Sabaton Open Air"

Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton just announced a new and very special kind of festival: the Sabaton Open Air / Rockstad:Falun festival in the band's hometown Falun, the Sabaton Cruise on the Baltic Sea, and now there is also Sabaton Open Air / Noch ein Bier Fest in Germany.

For a long time Sabaton has had the plans for doing a special and totally unique event in Germany and that will become reality now. In July the group will organize the new Sabaton Open Air - a headline concert where people will surely get a unique show.

For this concert Sabaton has chosen the stunning Amphitheatre in Gelsenkirchen (famous from Rock Hard Festival) and as support on this show will be Powerwolf and Korpiklaani as well as former band mates in Civil War.

Bassist Pär Sundström comments: “In 2008 we organized ‘One more beer party’ in Essen in Germany as a release party for ‘Art of War.’ Since then the idea has existed of doing something similar. Now, seven years later, all pieces have fallen into position and we are ready. There will be a lot of ‘Noch ein Bier’ that night!” More...

Graspop Metal Meeting Live Stream Available

As was the case in 2013, the 2014 installment of the Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium will have a live feed over this weekend (June 27th-June 29th). The feed can be accessed over at this location.

Not all bands are participating in the live feed, and the feed is subject to change at any time, with full live shows and partial live feeds throughout. Bands that will not be broadcast are: Ghost, Annihilator, Limp Bizkit and Black Sabbath. Make sure you check the schedule regularly at the bottom of the feed page for the status of the live stream (green check is full live stream, question mark is "unknown," green/red circle with slash is partial streaming and the red "x" is no stream).

Civil War Recruits New Guitarist

Swedish metal band Civil War hereby announces that guitarist Petrus Granar will be added as a full member to the line-up. The band comments:

"He as of today officially joined the band with a 'wet' ceremony baptizing him in Champagne, what else…

"Petrus have been a friend and working closely with the band since 'The Killer Angels' with demos, arrangements etc. He is a very talented guitarist and good with arrangements. Petrus also worked as a backline tech for the band since last November. It feels just natural to offer him a place with the band as he’s been our '7th member' all along.

"We look forward to have him in our band of brothers and he will add another dimension to our live sound and push the boundaries for what we can do with pretty much everything both on album and what we can make out of it as a live band."
