Latest Earshot News
Below is our complete Earshot news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Hermano has scheduled its sole US show for Saturday, March 29 at A1A in Lexington, Kentuckey.
With its members scattered across the country, one-off shows are virtually impossible for Hermano, and the band tours infrequently, making this show a truly special opportunity for fans to experience Hermano live.
Also appearing will be The Oxford Farm Report, Fabric, and Earle Grey featuring Steve Earle. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance through ticketfusion.com and $10 at the door.
Hermano’s "...Into the Exam Room," the third release from American heavy blues rockers Hermano, was released January 22 in North America via Regain Records. The group, which features musical heavyweights John Garcia (Kyuss/Unida), David Angstrom (Black Cat Bone/Supafuzz), Steve "Dandy" Brown (Dock Ellis/Orquesta del Desierto), Chris Leathers (Supafuzz), and Mike Callahan (Disengage/Earshot), went for a classic old-school escape-ism approach with "…Into the Exam Room." No messages, no hidden meanings – just pure heavy rock lined with beautiful harmonies and Garcia’s distinct yowl.
Formed in 1998 as a side project, Hermano has flourished for nearly a decade. The group’s writing sessions happen in its members’ respective cities, with ideas tossed into the song library by every member until the quintet sifts through and chooses the best.
Megadeth's tour manager has posted the following message on the band's official website:
To All Droogies everywhere, I was there, and I was involved in the decision making process with Nick and Dave of replacing Megadeth's drummer.
Nick knew that there was not a lot of time to get prepared for the tour, but he still tried to pull it off. Sadly, he was not prepared for the physical demands of a Megadeth show, and as all Droogies know, Megadeth is not some wimpy top 40 band that walks on a stage and gives a half-assed show.
This is why Nick knew Megadeth had to make this decision. Nick was actually involved in the discussion of bringing Shawn Drover into the camp.
Dave worked very hard with Nick to make this all happen, but it just was not coming together and time was running out to get this tour off the ground, so the change was made for the band and for you the fans. Dave did the right thing.
So to all Droogies throughout the world, MEGADETH IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!
In other news, Earshot has decided to drop off the Megadeth tour.

Megadeth's video for their new single, "Die Dead Enough", will debut on MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball" Saturday night (Sept. 11).
"Die Dead Enough" comes off Megadeth's highly anticipated new album, "The System Has Failed", due on September 14 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Phase Four studios in Tempe, Arizona and features mainman Dave Mustaine alongside drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Jimmy Sloas. Additional lead guitar tracks were laid down by former Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland.
In other news, Megadeth's North American headlining tour in support of "The System Has Failed" is scheduled to kick off October 26 in San Diego, CA. A New York City date is tentatively penciled in for November 10. Support on the tour is expected to come from Los Angeles-based quintet Earshot. Other cities that will be covered during the first leg of the tour are San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tucson, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Milwaukee and St. Louis.
Although there has been no official confirmation on the matter, Megadeth are hoping to play several European festivals next summer with Iron Maiden, Mustaine revealed during an appearance on the "Friday Night Rocks" show on New York's Q104.3 FM Friday night (Sept. 10). "[Iron Maiden singer] Bruce [Dickinson] and I are friends and we talked about it and he said that he wanted me to get on it, so I'm looking forward to the possibility of that happening," Dave said. "I've toured with Maiden a bunch of times, and I think it would be good for both bands."
"The System Has Failed" is Megadeth's first album since the announcement that Mustaine was disbanding the group following a serious accident in early 2002. At the time, it was unknown if severe nerve damage in his left arm would leave him able to perform again.
