San Francisco heavy metal cultists Castle will release the "Under Siege" album on May 20th via Prosthetic Records in North America.
"Under Siege" was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California earlier this year with producer/mixer Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Eyehategod) — who also produced the band's 2012 Juno-nominated release "Blacklands."
Vocalist/bass guitarist Liz Blackwell gave this insight on the new material: “We wrote this album in Los Angeles, San Francisco and in the mountains of Northern California. It’s a California record. We drew from the heavy sounds of those places to write electric witch hymns of death and doom.” More...
Castle has issued the following announcement about releasing a new limited edition 7" via Van Records:
"We're happy to release a Castle 7" featuring a cover of Alice Cooper's 'Second Coming' b/w our own 'Labyrinth of Death' - a demo version of a song from the forthcoming album.
"Van Records is releasing a strictly limited to 500 on black virgin wax with printed inner sleeve and download card.
Female-fronted doom rockers Castle will soon return to the studio to record a new album, with producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis) again overseeing the sessions. The band commented:
"The next Castle record will be a culmination of the last two years of our life -- a year and a half on the road in support of 'Blacklands' and the last six months holed up writing. The demos are done, the studio is booked and we were lucky enough to get Billy Anderson back to produce. The new record picks up where we left off with 'Blacklands' and before that 'In Witch Order.' There's a lot to sink your teeth into on the new record -- killer riffs, big vocals -- and if anything, it's about trying to harness the power that comes from playing night after night. It's going to sound huge and we can't wait to get it out."
The as-yet-untitled release is expected to be released in the late spring; stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. Castle has also announced a Western European tour with U.K. doom group Conan throughout April, along with select support from The Gravitators. Dates as follows: More...

Castle has been out on tour with The Atlas Moth and Intronaut, and the band has now checked in with the following statement about being denied entry to Croatia:
"It was to our great regret that we were denied entry yesterday into Croatia at the Hungarian/Croatian border. Castle, along with the Atlas Moth and Intronaut tried for several hours and two different border crossings to gain entry to play the show but were denied finally.
"Even if we were to pay our way into the country in lieu of the paperwork needed they could not guarantee our equipment would have safe passage out of the country. We had been looking forward to this show more than any other on our European tour and are greatly pissed that we could not play for the metal maniacs from Zagreb and beyond. We hope to make it back next time.
"After spending the entire night driving around Croatia we've arrived in Italy for the show tonight at Taun in Fidenza, then on to Milan tomorrow..." More...
