Dimesland Announces CD Release
Crucial Blast has confirmed the upcoming November 11, 2015 CD release of "Psychogenic Atrophy," the debut full-length from Oakland's avant-garde thrash assassins, Dimesland.
Appearing at the end of 2014 as a digital-only, self-released title, "Psychogenic Atrophy" was met with little fanfare, yet made an immediate and powerful impression upon those who heard it. An in-house favorite release of 2014, Crucial Blast was so blown away by this album that the label wanted to make it available as a physical release, reissuing "Psychogenic Atrophy" on CD in digipack packaging that features subtly unnerving cover art from Swiss photographer and performance artist Chantal Michel.
Unfortunately, shortly after the initial digital release of "Psychogenic Atrophy" in November, as Dimesland was preparing to tour heavily on the new album, guitarist Drew Cook tragically passed away.
While this leaves the future of the band uncertain for the time being, the remaining members -- Drew's brother, guitarist Nolan Cook, drummer Harland Burkhart, and bassist/vocalist Greg Brace -- continue to honor their fallen comrade's memory, and this new physical version of "Psychogenic Atrophy" is meant to do exactly that. Dimesland Guitarist Passes Away
Drew Cook, the guitarist for Oakland-based Dimesland and Wild Hunt, has tragically passed away in recent days.
Drew is remembered by the Bay Area music scene and thrill-seeking metal explorers worldwide for his unstoppably tight, technical, unique guitar skills, and is cherished by his friends and family as a greatly loving person.
Nolan Cook, the other half of the dual-guitar tandem of Dimseland, has issued the following on the loss of his brother, bandmate and best friend:
"We are saddened to announce the untimely passing of Oakland musician extraordinaire, Drew Cook, of the bands Dimesland and Wild Hunt. Drew was a special guitarist and a wonderful individual who will be deeply missed by the Bay Area music scene and by the many who were fortunate enough to have collaborated with or otherwise known him. We have lost an incredibly kind, funny, and talented human being."
The passing of Drew has placed all of his current acts on hiatus until further notice. The most recent of Cook's guitar wizardry can be heard on Dimesland's scorching debut album, "Psychogenic Atrophy," independently released by the band last year. More...

Dimesland Records New Album
Oakland, California-based Dimesland recently completed construction on a first full-length and will sear the name "Psychogenic Atrophy" into the consciousness of thrill-seeking music fans abroad. The following press release was issued about the band:
"With members' musical past and contemporary placement in a divergent array of bands including The Residents, Wild Hunt and more, abstract metal quartet, Dimesland produces a sound that is the result of a blend of controlled chaos and musical mutation, heavy tension and dark psychedelia.
"As Dimesland guitarists Nolan Cook and Drew Cook, drummer/vocalist Harland Burkhart and bassist/vocalist Greg Brace create a place where aggression and imagination merge harmonically, rhythmically and lyrically to explore the terrain of psychological havoc and mental fracture. The recorded by Justin Weis at Trakworx in South San Francisco (Ludicra, Cormorant, Slough Feg). Staggered through a multifaceted media bombardment over the coming months, the band will independently release their latest work in several formats, beginning with digital delivery in late Autumn, a CD version to follow thereafter, and ultimately a deluxe vinyl release by mid-2015.
"Forward thinking explorers of the more daring, progressing end of extreme metal citing the likes of Voivod, Gorguts, Loincloth, Deathspell Omega and Portal should keep Dimseland on the center of their radar as the band deploys further information and audio from Psychogenic Atrophy in the coming weeks. Tour actions regionally and abroad are also imminent.
"Dimesland's debut recordings came to light as an EP entitled Creepmoon, released on Vendlus Records in 2012, the unique brutality of the songs drawing critical praise immediately."
Stay tuned for further details on the upcoming full-length album.
