More Bands Confirmed For Sonisphere U.K.

The organizers of the British leg of the Sonisphere festival have confirmed a number of new additions to the event. New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends Diamond Head have been confirmed for the Friday date, which will also feature the "Big Four" of thrash metal. In addition to this, Weezer, Architects and Aussie rockers, Airbourne have also been confirmed. Speaking on the confirmation, Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler stated:

"Diamond Head have been given the fantastic opportunity of opening for the BIG 4 at this years Sonisphere festival, Knebworth Friday 8th July. This will be Diamond Head’s biggest ever show and myself and the other band members are very excited and looking forward to what will be an historic event. Knebworth is one of those venues you only dream of playing. I saw Led Zeppelin there in 1979 and never imagined that one day I would be on that stage, it proves the saying ‘anything is possible’! It also means I get to see my friends in Metallica and Megadeth once again which is always fun; I owe both Lars Ulrich and Dave Mustaine a beer."

The event will take place from July 8th - 10th at Knebworth and features the following confirmed bands:

Metallica
Megadeth
Slayer
Anthrax
Diamond Head
Motorhead
Slipknot
Weezer
Biffy Clyro
Mastodon
In Flames
Airbourne

Mastodon To Release "Jonah Hex" EP

Following the June 18th opening of the film "Jonah Hex," Reprise Records will release a 6 track EP from Mastodon from the film’s original motion picture score on June 29th, 2010.

"Jonah Hex" features an original score by Reprise recording artists Mastodon and Oscar-nominated composer Mario Beltrami (The Hurt Locker, 3:10 to Yuma). Mastodon were asked to create the score personally by the film’s director, Jimmy Hayward who was inspired by repeated listenings of Mastodon’s 2006 album "Blood Mountain." "Jimmy called us out of the blue as a fan,” bassist Troy Sanders told Paste magazine in an interview. "It was the most beautiful, authentic way to collaborate."

Fans will get a chance to hear these new tracks:

Death March (film version)
Clayton Boys (film version)
Indian Theme (film version)
Train Assault (film version)
Death March (alternate version)
Clayton Boys (alternate version)

Mastodon Comments On "Jonah Hex" Score

Mastodon has issued the following statement about creating the musical score for the upcoming movie "Jonah Hex:"

"The new movie Jonah Hex starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, and Megan Fox features a thunderous score composed by Mastodon and Oscar nominated Marco Beltrami (The Hurt Locker, 3:10 to Yuma). Mastodon were personally asked by the film’s director, Jimmy Hayward to sore the film.

"For their first venture into the realm of film, Mastodon would record the tracks spontaneously while viewing the movie footage, proving to be a daring and daunting way of creating music together over a short period of time. The resulting sessions yielded incredibly exciting results produced in a completely different way than they normally would approach writing and recording for a Mastodon album. The 6-track EP from the original motion picture score for Jonah Hex will be released on June 29th, featuring four new tracks: 'Death March,' 'Clayton Boys,' 'Indian Theme,' and 'Train Assault' with two bonus versions available through iTunes and all other digital outlets."
