Gwar And Korpiklaani Confirmed For Bloodstock
Bloodstock Open Air has confirmed a further two acts for next years festival. After being forced to pull out in 2009, the organizers have confirmed Gwar will be making an appearance. The Grammy-nominated Scumdogs Of The Universe will be flying in from Antarctica to unleash hell on all in attendance. Frontmonster Oderus Urungus warns us of the impending orgy of bodily fluids, nuclear waste and all manner of murder and vulgarity:
"Greetings people of Earth, it is I, ODERUS URUNGUS, lead singer of the Bloodiest band in metal history, the mighty GWAR! And it is with a sense of toe-curling delight and impending DOOM that I announce the addition of the GWAR to the mammoth BLOODSTOCK Open Air Metal Festival to be held this summer in England. Thats right, from the frozen depths of Antarctica, GWAR brings what BLOODSTOCK needs...BLOOD! Prepare yourself for the most colossal, disgusting, and completely politically incorrect show in metal history! We'll bring the swords, you bring the bodies, and together we shall turn the slam-pit into a seething mass of DEATH not seen in Europe since the fall of Berlin! GWAR is playing BLOODSTOCK...and may the Pope choke on it!"
Finnish folk metallers Korpiklaani will also be bringing their band of merry metal to Derby this summer for their only UK appearance of 2010. The band commented: More...

Dream Evil Launches DVD Trailer, New Song Online
Swedish melodic metal band DREAM EVIL released "Gold Medal In Metal (Alive & Archive)," their first live-release as DVD and CD earlier this year. The set includes a comprehensive bonus-CD compilation of more than an hour of quality rare and unreleased studio tracks. The band has now released a brand-new trailer for this release, which can be viewed below (after the jump).
Furthermore, the title track of this release, "Gold Medal In Metal," which is one of the many previously unreleased studio tracks included on the "Bronze Medal" disc has been launched on the band's MySpace page. "Gold Medal In Metal" was originally written and recorded as part of the sessions for the classic album "The Book Of Heavy Metal."
The double-CD, with a laying time of over 2 hours, and the special DVD version (playing time of the DVD is over 100 minutes and both audio CD's are included in this package as well) are a complete guide into the vaults of DREAM EVIL
Currently, DREAM EVIL is working on material for a new studio album and guitarist / producer Fredrik Nordström checks in with a short status report and end-of-the-year message:
"We are right now writing songs for the next album with the working title "In The Night". I believe that the release date will be before Summer of next year. As usual will we prepare approximately 30 songs and take the 15 best for recording. We will enter the studio on December 8th to start recording 4-5 songs and then continue in. Other than that, I can tell you that the DREAM EVIL camp now has 11 kids in total (MINI EVIL will start touring 2020, haha) and 2 of them are not even one year old, so we will have to wait some more before we can do longer tours again, but those who are waiting for some good stuff shall not remain waiting for too long. Consequently we are working on some shorter tours and festival appearances around the planet. So have a heavy metal fistmas and a sloppy new year!!!"
Expect more updates and activity by DREAM EVIL soon in 2009, as also the following live shows have already been confirmed: More...

Century Media Celebrates 20th Anniversary
2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!
The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.
To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.
Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Dream Evil Announce New Guitarist
DREAM EVIL has issued the following update:
"Hello Evil followers!
Finally we’ve got a new webmaster and our new site is up and running. It’s been totally quiet in the news section for a while, we’re sorry about that! We are not dead, only lazy old farts.
So what happened in the Dream Evil camp the last six months?
For family reasons our lead guitarist Mark Black unfortunately left the band and we now have a new (hairy & scary) axe swinger called Dannee Demon (aka Daniel Varghamne).
Dream Evil will release a CD with some new songs and some old songs (which earlier only have been released as bonus tracks in Japan) combined with a live DVD recorded November 25th 2006 in Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg. The preliminary release date is now set to March – April 2008
... The album will be called Gold Medal In Metal.
We are all working in our metal factories on making new splendid unbloody serious farmer metal anthems that hopefully will show up on our next studio album.
We also hope that the upcoming live shows section will be filled with gigs in the near future near You.
Hope to see you from the stage!
- Dream Evil"
